Popeyes fans are in for a treat as the popular chicken shop confirmed it will be giving away 10,000 free Chicken Sandwiches.

To be eligible for a free sandwich, customers need to download Popeyes’ new mobile app, available on iOS and Android.

After downloading the app, fans of the fast-food chain must register to be automatically entered into the prize draw.

The lucky winners will be notified on November 4 and will have two weeks to collect their free Chicken Sandwich along with a complimentary Coca-Cola.

For those chicken fans who miss out on the free sandwich, the fast-food chain is giving them another opportunity to win a free item.

Popeyes’ new app will feature a “Spinnin & Winnin” game, in which users spin a wheel for a chance to win one of ten prizes, including a free regular Chicken Sandwich, a free Breakfast Muffin, or a free Signature Louisiana Biscuit.

However, customers must spend over £3 to be eligible for a chance to win.

David Carey, CTO of Popeyes UK, said: “Our Chicken Sandwich is our most famous item across our menus, loved by fried chicken fans worldwide and selling one in the UK every 3 seconds.

“With so much love for our internet-breaking sandwich, there is no better way to celebrate the launch of our new app than allowing our customers to get a taste of it, and a Coca-Cola, on us.

“It’s the fastest way to get your hands on a Chicken Sandwich, so don’t miss out on the taste everyone’s raving about.”

The food item was famously dubbed “the sandwich that broke the internet” because of the huge demand from fans.

The Chicken Sandwich features fresh Shatter Crunchin’ chicken breast that has been marinated for 12 hours in a blend of Louisiana herbs and spices.

The popular sandwich is priced at £8.75, but fans can enjoy exclusive discounts through the Popeyes app.

It follows the chicken shop’s major menu change with new meals added – and they have turned a popular dip into an official flavour.

‘HOT HONEY’

Popeyes announced the release of its brand-new “Hot Honey” range – including the Hot Honey Sandwich, Hot Honey Saucin’ Wings, Hot Honey Box Meal and Biscuit and Hot Honey.

The popular chain said the launch is a response to fan demand, as the sweet and spicy flavour grows in popularity – with Popeyes UK selling more than 80,000 Hot Honey dips last month alone.

The hashtag #HotHoney also reached 887 million views on TikTok, the brand said.

Fans can tuck into the Hot Honey Box Meal, with the option to bundle their favourite Hot Honey menu items together, including fries and a drink, for just £10.99

The limited-edition Hot Honey Sandwich, Sauncin’ Wings and Box Meal was made available at all Popeyes restaurants, drive-thrus and via delivery nationwide on September 17.

The New Orleans-born fried chicken brand said they were “spicing up” the menu with the launch of the brand-new Hot Honey range.

This includes the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, Hot Honey Saucin’ Wings and Hot Honey Box Meal.

The chain said in a statement: “Sticky, sweet, and with a fiery kick of heat, the Hot Honey range has finally been launched after Popeyes’ followers on social media called for its best-selling Hot Honey dip to be turned into one of its iconic chicken sandwich flavours.

“Now the fans have asked, Popeyes has listened and turned up the temperature with the launch of three mouth-watering limited-edition new menu items.

“Landing in time for the start of Autumn, fried chicken lovers can keep the summer heat poppin’ with the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich.”

It comes after McDonald’s revealed it was adding a new burger to its menu next week.

And Harverster has launched its biggest plate for food yet – a gut-busting mountain of meat for £50.

Rachel Reeves will spend billions at tomorrow’s Budget freeing up two million extra NHS appointments

RACHEL Reeves will spend billions at tomorrow’s Budget freeing up two million extra NHS appointments.

In an effort to revive the ailing health service, the Chancellor will pump £1.5billion into new surgical hubs and scanners and spend a further £70million on radiotherapy machines.

The planned hubs will clear a path for thousands of additional procedures and millions of diagnostic tests across the country.

Fresh funding will boost the number of elective appointments by 40,000 a week.

It comes on top of an additional £1.8billion investment into elective activity announced in July.

At a hospital visit with Ms Reeves in South London yesterday, Wes Streeting heaped praise on the funding announcement.

However, the Health Secretary warned that “it will take time to turn the situation around”.

Asked if the Budget would fix the NHS, the Chancellor said: “I don’t think in one Budget you can undo 14 years of damage.

“But in this Budget we’re going to provide the resources necessary to deliver on our manifesto commitment to reduce the huge backlog.”

She added: “We will be known as the Government that took the NHS from its worst crisis in its history, got it back on its feet again and made it fit for the bright future ahead of it.”

LABOUR’S SO CRUEL

By Craig MaCKinlay

IT is little surprise a wet-behind-the-ears Chancellor, looking into a fiscal black hole of her own making, should have considered reaching for the fuel duty lever to squeeze more cash from hard-pressed taxpayers.

I write now as somebody with new incapacities following quadruple amputations of my hands and feet after sepsis.

Those with severe disabilities are incapable of increasing their income.

A fuel duty hike would do untold damage.

F-35 deal’s ‘vital to UK’

LABOUR has been urged to stick to Britain’s F-35 fighter jet programme or inflict a blow to the economy and thousands of skilled jobs.

Industry giant Lockheed Martin cautioned against the Ministry of Defence slashing its order for 138-aircraft in its major defence review.

It insisted the deal was worth £45.2billion to Britain and supported more than 20,000 jobs.

So far, only 48 F-35s have been ordered, of which 34 have been delivered.

The MoD said: “We plan to have at least 74 F-35 fighter jets protecting our skies and helping boost UK jobs.

“Decisions on more purchases will be made in the middle of this decade.”

Miss England backs Prince William’s quest to make CPR training law & part of school curriculum

THE current Miss England is behind a Prince William-backed quest to change the law to make CPR training part of the school curriculum.

Milla Magee, 24, opened up for the first time about her two grandfathers, who each died after suffering fatal heart attacks, meaning that – heartbreakingly – she never got to meet them.

Her paternal grandfather Nile Magee, who ran a windows business, had a cardiac arrest aged 53 at home in 1988.

He died during an hour-long wait for an ambulance to reach his home in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, while a relative – who was not trained in first aid – watched in horror, with no idea how to help him.

And Milla’s maternal grandfather, former RAF Flight Lieutenant John Saltmarsh, 62, a father-of-two, had a fatal heart attack while making a cup of tea at home in Windsor in 1998.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, she said: “It’s a tragedy to think that my paternal grandfather in particular could have been saved if the family member had been equipped with the life-saving knowledge of CPR.

“It’s hard – I definitely missed growing up without the presence of grandparents.

“Not having them around means I have always been someone who wanted to listen avidly to stories about them.

“That tragic story that I grew up with inspired me to learn first aid skills so in that – if I was faced with a similar situation – I would know how to save life.

“That’s why I am so passionate about keeping them alive and turning a tragic story into an inspiring one, to encourage younger generations.”

Her mum Katrina Russell, 56, told how John’s sudden death when she was 29 – was “awful” especially as her mum Shirley then “died of a broken heart” a year later aged just 62.

Katrina said: “I feel so bad for Milla because they were wonderful people that she sadly never met.”

Determined to honour her late grandparents after their untimely deaths, Milla, a keen surfer and trained lifeguard, went on a first aid course aged 16 – and has put her skills into practice on a few occasions.

And since winning the title of Miss England in May she has used her platform to call for other children to learn CPR at school and urge them to take up first aid courses.

Her Go Far With CPR initiative – which sees her speak in schools and communities about the importance of first aid – has also won praise from Prince William this summer.

He visited a beach in her hometown of Newquay, Cornwall, and told her: “We are all rooting for you.”

Now – after launching her petition to make training mandatory in schools via Change.Org this month – Milla hopes to meet with lawmakers to “turn awareness into action.”

Milla – who will compete in Miss World in February – added: “Anyone who’s been through or lost someone to a cardiac arrest knows they can be here one minute and gone the next – just like my grandfathers.

“And CPR is a lifelong skill that defies age and language – it could save someone.

“Even though they’re not here, my grandparents are with me in my heart and I hope they’d be proud of me with what I’m trying to do.

“It might sound weird but I talk to them often – I tell them ‘whatever Im doing is for you.’”

Drinks giant makes last-ditch plea for Rachel Reeves to slash alcohol tax in Budget — or risk 9,000 pubs closing

DRINKS giant Diageo has made a last-ditch plea for Rachel Reeves to slash alcohol tax in tomorrow’s Budget — or risk 9,000 pubs closing.

It has joined other industry leaders in urging the Chancellor to reverse the 10.1 per cent hike added to spirits by the last Government.

One in five publicans and bar owners — about 9,000 pubs — are unsure whether they will be open in a year’s time

Nuno Teles, managing director of Diageo GB, even called on her to follow Tom Cruise’s lead.

He said: “The Chancellor may feel that she has been handed Mission Impossible — ignite economic growth while managing a so-called budget black hole.

“It’s certainly a challenge, but the spirits industry offers a solution. Working with us will support business growth and increase Treasury revenue.

“We call on the Chancellor to reverse the economic damage caused by the duty increase last August.”

The Johnnie Walker whisky maker has joined the Scotch Whisky Association and the English Whisky Guild in writing a letter to Ms Reeves.

They say the Tories’ hike has LOST the Treasury almost £300million in tax over the last 12 months because 61 per cent of people who like to eat and drink out have cut back.

Now one in five publicans and bar owners — about 9,000 pubs — are unsure whether they will be open in a year’s time.

Referring to Labour’s vow to back economic growth, Mr Teles said: “We urge the Treasury to put these words into action.”

Trainline on track

BOOKING firm Trainline has ramped up annual sales forecasts for the second time in weeks after strong demand.

The group now expects total sales growth to be between 12 and 14 per cent — up from previous guidance of between 8 and 12 per cent in September.

It also increased its revenue growth forecasts to between 11 and 13 per cent, up from 7 to 11 per cent estimated earlier.

Trainline said in the first half of the year that ticket sales accelerated 14 per cent year on year to £3billion, with revenues up 17 per cent to £229million.

Earnings soared 44 per cent to £82million.

The company has previously flagged an increase in the number of people switching to digital tickets and fewer rail strikes this year for boosting results.

A little choc of horrors

a pile of candy bars including toffee crisp and snickers
Shoppers bought less this month, even as price increases slowed for popular foods like chocolate

SHOPPERS have bought less this month despite price rises continuing to slow across food favourites such as chocolate.

Retailers reported “disappointing” seasonal sales, with volumes down on the same period last year.

However, online sales did jump, the Confederation of British Industry survey found.

Firms expect overall sales to remain broadly flat next month but believe online demand will grow in the run-up to Black Friday and Christmas.

The CBI’s Martin Sartorius said: “This weakness in activity was reflected across the broader sector, with wholesale and motor trade firms reporting declining sales.”

It comes despite figures from the British Retail Consortium-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index showing that food inflation slowed to 1.9 per cent this month, down from 2.3 per cent in September.

Halloween promos on sweets and other spooky treats have helped.

The heat is on WFH

FEWER people are expected to work remotely this winter because they want to cut down on their energy bills.

Two-thirds of staff said free heating encourages them into the office in the winter months, the latest Virgin Media O2 Business Movers Index shows.

It also found Monday and Friday work commutes have seen 7 per cent and 5 per cent year-on-year increases respectively as the remote working boom begins to fade — boosting retail sales.

Lidl shop spree

AMBITIOUS budget chain Lidl will open 10 new stores in time for Christmas.

Locations include Bovey Tracey in Devon, Berwick Green in Bristol, Stirchley in Birmingham and London, creating 400 new jobs.

It will also reopen three existing outlets that have either been relocated or refurbished and extended, including Chessington and Dagenham Heathway in the capital and Connah’s Quay in North Wales.

Lidl now has more than 960 shops in Britain and plans to open hundreds more.

THE Financial Conduct Authority has handed Kristo Kaarmann, boss of money transfer firm WISE, a £350,000 fine after he failed to notify it about problems with his personal tax affairs.

But Kaarmann is still fit to continue in his role.

Auto deal fear

SHARES in Lloyds Banking Group dropped 2.67 per cent yesterday as it was “assessing the potential impact” of a court ruling on motor finance commission payments.

The Court of Appeal ruled last week that car dealers could not get commissions from lenders such as Lloyds’ Black Horse brand without first getting a green light from customers.

Close Brothers, another affected firm, also saw shares sink by 7.88 per cent as motor finance lenders could face a £4billion compensation bill.
