When is Black Friday 2024?

The date of Black Friday changes every year. This year, that date falls on 29 November.

Although this date changes year on year, it always falls on the last Friday in November — directly after Thanksgiving in the US.

Black Friday originated across the pond in the US but is now widely recognised globally, with many brands and retailers offering promotions and sitewide deals for the occasion.

Read up on the sale’s history in our Black Friday explainer.

Is Elemis taking part in Black Friday this year?

Yes, although it hasn’t yet revealed any offers for November, Elemis has officially set up a Black Friday 2024 page, where you can sign up for exclusive sale access.

Known for its high-performance products like the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Cleansing Balm, Elemis typically provides significant discounts during Black Friday.

Shoppers can look forward to big savings on the brand’s best-selling skincare, making it the perfect time to stock up or try something new.

Bookmark this page as we’ll be updating the deals as they launch.

What to expect from Elemis’ Black Friday sale 2024

Last year, customers were treated to up to 50% off some of the brand’s bestselling products.

We expect more great offers this year, with substantial discounts during the long Black Friday weekend, hopefully including holiday gift sets and product bundles also.

We also may well see price cuts on stocking fillers, Advent calendars and gifting.

Whether you’re a beauty fan or you’re buying for a loved one, there’s something for everyone at Elemis – the low prices making their luxury skincare all the more tempting.

What was in Elemis’ sale last year?

elemis pro-collagen marine cream spf 30 and elemis superfood facial oil
Last year we saw deals on Elemis’ flagship products, including the Marine Cream, Superfood Facial Oil and Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

In 2023, the sale was a good place to look for a variety of skincare essentials.

Most products had 30% off, with additional offers on selected lines for Black Friday.

There were holiday offers to save money on beauty staples and bundles in the lead-up to the gifting season, as well as the opportunity to save on added costs like delivery.

Shoppers had the chance to grab fan favourites such as the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, which was reduced from £48 to £33.60.

Other highlights included the Superfood Facial Oil, which dropped from £50 to £35 in the sale.

Because other retailers like Lookfantastic and Boots stock Elemis products, there’s a chance you could save even more thanks to price-matching and competition.

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is Elemis taking part?

Cyber Monday always falls on the Monday directly after Black Friday — this year it falls on December 2.

Cyber Monday has traditionally been seen as the end of Black Friday deals, but in recent years it’s seen many brands and retailers reduce their prices even more.

We’ve also seen brands and retailers extend their offers well past the expected finish date and into December.

How much does Elemis shipping cost?

Delivery costs on Elemis products can vary depending on where you buy the products from.

If you’re ordering directly from Elemis, standard delivery is free and you’ll be set to receive your order within 2-4 working days (Monday-Saturday) across the UK mainland.

If you need your items sooner, next-day delivery is available for £5.95 (Monday-Saturday) if placed by 5pm. This option is available for UK mainland only.

International shipping costs £9.95 and takes around 10 working days.

Does Elemis offer any other discounts?

Yes, it does, but it doesn’t happen all the time.

The brand regularly features offers on its website, which sometimes comprises bundle offers so you can save money versus buying everything individually.

Beauty retailers such as Boots and Sephora will often release deals with purchases of specific Elemis products, sending freebies if customers pass a certain spending threshold.

Additionally, you can find Elemis products on sale at partner retailers, which might have their own promotions and discount codes to help you save a little extra on your purchase.

Be sure to sign up for the brand’s newsletter for early sale access information and 15% off your first order, as well as offers and promotional discounts direct to your inbox.

Amy Dowden reveals big challenge she faces as Strictly dancer as she discusses early menopause after backstage collapse

AMY Dowden has spoken out about experiencing early menopause as a result of her cancer treatment, and the difficulties it causes on Strictly as a result.

The 34-year-old Welsh dancer, who completed breast cancer treatment earlier this year, left fans scared for her wellbeing after collapsing backstage on Strictly last week

In a new video, Amy was seen lounging on her sofa in a cuddly jumper with a cup of tea as she opened up on her menopausal symptoms.

Explaining that her type of cancer was hormone fed, Amy admitted having to go into a medically-induced menopause was “one of the biggest shocks” of her treatment.

Since then she has experienced a list of symptoms including hot flushes, struggling to sleep, and low energy – which is particularly troublesome when working on a show like Strictly.

“This was a huge shock. I was in a bit of denial, and I had no idea about the menopause,” she told the camera.

“It’s something I wasn’t worried about, I hadn’t even thought about, and I thought I had years ahead of me before I went into menopause.

“It’s been tough, and the signs and symptoms haven’t been easy.”

When talking about the hardest symptoms to deal with, she said: “For me, the lack of sleep, because of the hot flushes and night sweats and difficulty getting to sleep, especially when, you know, I’ve got a very active job, very physical job, and then you really need to sleep and your body to be able to recover.

“And yeah, menopause doesn’t help at all with this.”

The star said she found solace in speaking to others going through the same thing, and told viewers: “My advice would be to persevere. Obviously, you kind of don’t have any choice, but at the same time, your body does adjust, or even not only that, you adjust.

“I think you start to get used to it and not to be scared, to talk to others, not to feel alone. I think that really helps to speak to others and to get advice on what works for them and to obviously always seek medical advice.”

Amy’s new video came in collaboration with Boots and Macmillan Cancer as part of menopause awareness month.

She wrote in the caption she “hoped to show that you’re not alone and reflecting on my own experience” and added: “If you, or anyone you know, is needing support go to Boots’ Online Health Hub or in store and speak to their Information Pharmacists who can offer free help and advice.”

Amy has previously spoken about her medically-induced menopause, revealing on her BBC documentary, Strictly Amy: Cancer And Me, that she had frozen her eggs in the hope that she and husband, dancer Ben Jones, could have children in the future.

She told cameras:”Your eggs, your ovaries, everything can be damaged and not necessarily reboot again.

Our research found eight in ten who take HRT said it helped improve their lives — and without any side-effects

“Since we got married, the question we’re asked the most is, ‘When are you going to have kids?’ and my body can’t go through that right now.”

“You produce so many hormones when you’re pregnant, I’d be at such a high risk of my cancer returning,” she explained.

“Of course we want children, but we still don’t know. There are so many options, which we’re grateful for.”

When Amy collapsed backstage last week, Lauren Oakley was drafted in to perform with JB Gill to give her time to recover.

JB and Lauren performed a medley to Bruno Mars during Icons Week, and were sent through to next week.

Amy was standing proud alongside her fellow professional dancers, and appeared emotional on screen as her co-stars rallied around her.

What causes condensation on windows and how do I prevent it?

CONDENSATION is a common problem for many home owners during the colder months.

Not only do foggy windows make it difficult to see outside, the dampness could cause mould, which is very damaging to you and your families’ health.

Allowing condensation to linger in your house could be bad for your health
Allowing condensation to linger too long in your house could be bad for your health
Getty Images

So what causes condensation and how do you overcome the pesky problem of condensation and mould this festive season?

What causes condensation?

Condensation happens when warm air catches on to a cold surface.

You may see your breath when you breathe out outdoors, especially when it’s cold, and things like cooking, washing, or having a shower can also cause the fog to form.

A common example at home is when steam rises from a hot bath, it can hit your cold bathroom mirror, causing condensation.

The moist water vapour in the air then turns into water droplets which you can see on the mirror.

But as we turn our radiators back on for the winter, the warm air can cause condensation to form on your windows too.

How to banish the fog from your home

Condensation on Window
Keeping the temperature in your home steady can prevent condensation completely

You can stop condensation at home by keeping your house well ventilated, so simply having a daily routine of opening windows, doors and letting air in can really help.

Opening your windows may not be as tempting in winter as we naturally want to keep the cold out, but doing this for short periods of time each day will allow the warm moisture to escape so it’s important to do.

Not ventilating your house will trap the moist air and will fog up your windows.

Keep your home at  a comfortable temperature because one constant temperature reduces the chances of condensation.

Putting on the extractor fan while you cook can also halt any dinner-time fog from forming.

If condensation is already an issue inside your house, there are some simple ways to get rid of it.

Use a sponge or a squeegee to wipe down places that have the unwanted water droplets, then dry it off with a clean towel.

Cheap condensation hacks

1. Use Salt or Cat Litter

   – Place bowls of salt or silica-based cat litter in areas prone to dampness. These materials are excellent at absorbing moisture from the air.

2. DIY Dehumidifier

   – Create a simple dehumidifier using a plastic container with a lid. Punch holes in the lid, fill the container with silica gel or activated charcoal, and place it in humid areas.

3. Ventilate When Cooking and Showering

   – Open windows or use extractor fans when cooking or showering to let moisture escape. Even a small gap can make a significant difference.

4. Wipe Down Windows

   – Regularly wipe down windows and other cold surfaces with a dry cloth to remove condensation. This prevents moisture from accumulating and causing mould.

5. Use Houseplants

   – Certain houseplants, like peace lilies and spider plants, can help absorb moisture from the air. They also improve indoor air quality.

6. Keep Lids on Pots

   – When cooking, keep lids on pots and pans to reduce the amount of steam released into the air.

7. Dry Clothes Outside

   – Whenever possible, dry clothes outside or in a well-ventilated area instead of using indoor drying racks.

8. Open Curtains and Blinds

   – During the day, open curtains and blinds to allow sunlight to warm up windows and reduce condensation. Sunlight also helps to reduce mould growth.

9. Use Towels Wisely

   – Keep towels and other fabrics away from walls and windows to prevent them from absorbing moisture and becoming damp.

10. Seal Cracks and Gaps

    – Use inexpensive weatherstripping or caulk to seal any cracks or gaps around windows and doors. This helps to keep cold air out and warm air in, reducing condensation.

Thousands of households to get £250 cost of living payment this winter – are you one of them?

THOUSANDS of families struggling with financial hardships can now claim cost of living payments worth up to £250.

Cash-strapped households can get access to the money through the government’s Household Support Fund (HSF) this winter.

The pot of cash is handed out by local councils and it varies from area to area.

The aid was set up in 2021, however, it has been extended by the UK government a number of times.

How much you are eligible for is usually based on what benefits you already receive and your financial circumstances.

Rotherham Council is now offering struggling families £250 grants to fight the cost of living.

It said the aim is to provide crisis support to financially vulnerable households most in need – and will come out of a £1million pot provided by the government.

The fund will also be available to support those who are struggling to afford household basics including food, energy, wider essentials, and exceptional costs.

Rotherham Council says to qualify for the grant, residents must have no more than £150 remaining each month after covering essential expenses like food, rent or mortgage and utility bills, the BBC reports.

A spokesperson from the council confirmed applicants did not need to be on benefits to apply for this fund.

To apply, residents will have to submit their bank statements and provide more information about their basic finances, including bills, earnings, and expenditures.

Chris Read, Rotherham Council leader, said: “We don’t want anyone to be worrying about turning off the heating this winter because they can’t afford their bill.

“Whatever your age, if you just aren’t able to keep up with your gas or electricity bills this winter, please do get in touch and see if our crisis scheme can help you.”

What if I don’t live in Rotherham?

It is not only households in Rotherham which get access to the Household Support Fund (HSF).

The government has released £421 million which will be distributed between councils and then dished out to vulnerable residents over the colder season.

The pot of cash will be available from October this year until March next year.

This comes as the current scheme closes today, September 30, after the latest round of £421 million was used to help struggling households across the country.

The portion of funding each council gets is based on the size of the population, catchment area, and need.

This time Birmingham will receive the greatest share for instance, worth £12.8million.

Receiving the second largest share will be Kent, with £11million, and Lancashire will get £9.7million.

Not every council will receive as much funding as this.

The Isle of Scilly will receive the least amount of cash, worth £11,130.

The City of London will also be allocated £63,080, and Rutland £157,371.

Councils which have higher numbers of vulnerable households will get more cash based on demand.

Tower Hamlets, for example, is the most deprived area in London and will get £3million.

How the cash gets distributed will be decided by each council, so what you can get will vary depending on where you live.

Around £79million is estimated to be provided to the devolved governments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for them to decide how best to support their citizens.

Household Support Fund explained

Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what you need to know about the Household Support Fund.

If you’re battling to afford energy and water bills, food or other essential items and services, the Household Support Fund can act as a vital lifeline.

The financial support is a little-known way for struggling families to get extra help with the cost of living.

Every council in England has been given a share of £421million cash by the government to distribute to local low-income households.

Each local authority chooses how to pass on the support. Some offer vouchers whereas others give direct cash payments.

In many instances, the value of support is worth hundreds of pounds to individual families.

Just as the support varies between councils, so does the criteria for qualifying.

Many councils offer help to households on selected benefits or they may base help on the level of household income.

The key is to get in touch with your local authority to see exactly what support is on offer.

And don’t delay, the scheme has been extended until April 2025 but your council may dish out their share of the Household Support Fund before this date.

Once the cash is gone, you may find they cannot provide any extra help so it’s crucial you apply as soon as possible.

How do I apply?

To be eligible for help, you usually have to be in receipt of a council tax reduction or show proof of being in financial difficulty.

Each council has a different application process – so you’ll have to ask your local authority or find out via your council’s website.

Not all councils have decided how they will distribute the cash yet, so you may have to wait to get all the information.

To find out how to contact your local authority, use the gov.uk authority tool checker.

In the last round of funding, some residents received their share automatically, while others had to apply.

For example, Haringey London Council is issuing automatic payments to eligible residents, as well as a support fund which can be applied to.

It is also issuing payments to schools, which means they can distribute free school vouchers.

In previous years, other authorities have offered cost of living vouchers – such as Coventry City Council.

This has included a Community Supermarket scheme, where all Coventry residents could pay £5 weekly and receive a basket of food worth up to £25.

Residents of Effingham, near Guildford, have been able to claim up to £300 free cash to help with the cost of living crisis.

Surrey council previously poured £300,000 into food banks, where photo ID and proof of address is required, but no referral needed.

While some schemes, such as the Surrey Crisis Fund, which can offer up to £100 to those immediately in need, are reserved for those who also rely on other means-tested benefits.

What else can we expect from the new government?

The Household Support Fund was introduced by the Conservative government in 2021.

This year, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Liz Kendall MP, said:

“We have invested an extra half a billion pounds in the Household Support Fund to give struggling families and the poorest pensioners the help they need this winter.

“As local authorities across England deliver this lifeline support to help households with the costs of feeding children and heating homes, we are continuing our work to fix the foundations of our country, grow the economy and deliver opportunities for people to get work and get on in work, so everyone feels better off.”

The Labour government is set to announce a new scheme which they have named The Child Poverty Taskforce.

The information for this will not be published until Spring 2025, however the government have promised to regularly engage with people, communities, and organisations to help shape the strategy.

MAFS stars secretly end bitter feud after not speaking for NINE months following explosive TV row

TWO Married At First Sight stars have finally ended their bitter feud after secretly not speaking for NINE MONTHS after the TV show.

The explosive E4 marriage experiment saw couples falling out aplenty but two co-stars who were never romantically involved saw themselves locked in a heated feud after filming the show.

However, they have now put their issues to bed after a chance encounter[/caption]

Sacha Jones and Alex Henry came to blows during their time on the programme, which seemingly derailed their friendship for good.

The blonde beauty was left horrified at some of Alex’s comments and lashed out at him for being disrespectful towards women on the show.

Now, The Sun can exclusively reveal that the almighty on-screen fall-out led the pair to not speak for a total of nine months.

They cut all ties with one another until finally ending the bitter row following a chance encounter at a Manchester hotspot over the weekend.

A source exclusively told The Sun: “Sacha and Alex haven’t spoken since he left the filming of MAFS in February.

“The pair haven’t seen each other and on Friday they were both invited to BLVD in Manchester.

“Sacha found out just before she got there that he would be there and was really nervous about seeing him due to everything that went down during filming.

“They got on really well before the argument on the show. They had a good chat on Friday and sorted everything out.

“It feels a relief for the both of them and it all feels like water under the bridge now.

“They both apologised for their behaviour and agreed to put their differences aside and move on.”

Their rows on the programme were the centre of attention during one explosive commitment ceremony.

The feud even spilled out into Sacha’s marriage to Ross as he furiously hit out at Alex too in a bid to protect his wife.

As Sacha confided in her husband about their feud, Ross lashed out at him during the commitment ceremony telling Paul C. Brunson: “He can f*** off, he took it too far.”

In the episode, Alex proceeded to apologise but a frustrated Sacha said she could not accept it.

Sacha said: “I’m not going to tolerate what I’ve witnessed towards the women, towards me that day, and let him come off as the good guy.”

LadBaby breaks silence on groping accusations and reveals he called in anti-terror police after charity backlash

LADBABY has broken his silence on his historic groping accusations, also revealing he was forced to call in anti-terror police after charity backlash.

Back in 2022, the influencer was accused of wrapping his arms around an unknown woman and rubbing up against her in a Nottingham club in the 18-second video shared online.

He also revealed he called in anti-terror police after charity backlash[/caption]

LadBaby, 37, real name Mark Hoyle, and his wife Roxanne claim they were sent the video before it was circulated on social media, with the pair blackmailed for £10,000 to prevent it being released.

While they ignored the message, hoping the hoaxer wouldn’t keep their word, the couple were left devastated when it was published months later.

In the video, the woman danced between the man’s legs as he sat on a stool and stroked her thighs before she walked away.

There was no suggestion the touching is non-consensual.

The woman in the short clip, which was later deleted from TikTok for ‘violating its content terms’, did not appear to be Roxanne.

Speaking to The Guardian in a new interview, they both agreed that they hadn’t coped well with the fallout.

Mark said: “We were lucky we had each other – that’s what we’ve always said about LadBaby, the good and the bad.”

Roxanne added: “We’ve been accused of things before, and we’re just like, we’ll get through this one. That’s how we are now – we’re quite resilient people.”

They, indeed, found themselves at the receiving end of further allegations over the profits on their Christmas No1s.

The YouTubers have claimed the top spot on the UK Singles Chart each year from 2018 to 2022 with their novelty songs, We Built This City, I Love Sausage Rolls, Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, Sausage Rolls for Everyone and Food Aid.

Part of their success is down to profits going to the food bank charity, The Trussell Trust.

So, when unfounded claims about the destination of raised funds emerged, Mark was forced to call in the cops.

Roxanne said: “I don’t think people realise the impact of that level of trolling, where the police came to support us through that time.”

While they received threats, with trolls claiming to know where they lived, things came to a head when Mark was confronted in a pub and had to be escorted to safety by bouncers.

He reflected: “We didn’t know how to [handle] it. And quite often, you don’t want to make the situation worse, and so you don’t do anything.”

Mark began to suffer from panic attacks and, eventually, the police took the threats seriously.

And, at one point, anti-terror officers were assigned to advise the Hoyles at their home.

The mum-of-two is set to release an autobiography alongside Mark that lays bare the “obstacles they’ve overcome” to become two of the most prominent personalities on social media.

Titled, Our LadBaby Journey: Success, Sacrifice and Sausage Rolls, it will be available for all to read on November 7.

Roxanne and Mark have pulled back the curtain on how they came from nothing to achieve success against all odds.

The couple shot to fame thanks to their parenting hacks and prank videos shared on social media

However, it hasn’t all been glamour and laughter – in fact, the couple were once living on £20 a week.

And Roxanne told Fabulous last year that she’s had to put food back on the supermarket shelves to afford nappies.

Now, she has over 1.3 million followers on Instagram and has made a living out of being silly online with Mark and their sons – Phoenix, eight, and Kobe, six.

Taking to the app last month, Roxanne broke down in tears ahead of the big book launch.

“To be totally honest, I still can’t believe in two weeks time a story about our life will be out there for people to read,” she penned.

“We are a positive family and our story is about never giving up, but we’ve had obstacles we’ve had to overcome that we never thought would come from living our lives online.

“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster where we’ve laughed and cried.

“But as we get closer to everyone reading it, I realise how bloody proud I am of all we have accomplished and the mark we’ve left on the world.”

Alongside five Christmas number ones about sausage rolls, partnerships with the likes of Jet2 and Smyths Toys, and a collection of children’s books, the LadBaby brand has done a lot.

Their tell-all autobiography is their most vulnerable project to date.

According to Mark, he and Roxanne were “so nervous” about announcing their new book, which they’ve wanted to write “for a really long time”.

The tome will cover the pair’s rise to fame, the start of their parenting journey, their epic Christmas single successes and how they became Guinness World Record breakers.

It will also discuss Roxanne’s decision to walk away from a six-figure deal with In The Style, after releasing numerous hit ranges with the clothing brand.

Who is Ladbaby Mum and what is she famous for?

Roxanne Hoyle is wife to Mark Hoyle, aka LadBaby.

Together they are the online family entertainment personalities and comedy duo behind LadBaby and LadBabyMum.

LadBaby took the music industry by storm in 2018 with their debut song ‘We Built This City on Sausage Rolls’.

The couple followed this up with four more charity chart topping singles to make chart history by being the only acts in UK music history to have scored FIVE consecutive Christmas number one singles in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. 100% of all proceeds from the tracks going directly to supporting UK food bank charity, The Trussell Trust.

In 2021, LadBaby branched out into the world of children’s picture books with their debut title: Greg the Sausage Roll – Santa’s Little Helper.

In 2023, the couple started a podcast, Live, Laugh, Love.

In 2024 Mark & Rox released an autobiography, and now they have just released their very own family board game, titled ‘Sausage Roll’.

The couple have had partnerships with the likes of Jet2 and Smyths Toys, and Rox has even had her own clothing edit with In The Style and Asda.

‘Arsenal should 100 per cent gamble on signing Paul Pogba, he will give everything on the pitch’

ARSENAL have been urged to take a sensational gamble on Paul Pogba.

That is the recommendation of Invincibles star Emmanuel Petit, who reckons the former Manchester United midfielder would be the perfect addition to Mikel Arteta‘s squad.

Pogba saw a doping ban reduced from four years to 18 months[/caption]

Pogba, 31, has abandoned the idea of retirement after seeing a drug ban sentence reduced from four years to 18 months.

The Juventus star tested positive for the banned substance DHEA, which naturally boosts testosterone production, before the suspension was reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Having not played since September 2023, this ruling will allow him to return to competitive action next year, being allowed to train from January before playing in a match in March.

However, he is understood to be in negotiations to leave the Turin outfit.

That has opened the door for speculation on where he could end up playing his football.

And fellow France World Cup winner Petit has recommended his former club take a punt on Pogba.

He told Jeffbet: “Honestly, Arsenal should 100 per cent gamble on signing Paul Pogba. He will give everything on the pitch.

“It will take him a few weeks to get fully fit, but he will be so eager to wash his name. There is a motivation that is priceless to a manager like Mikel Arteta.”

BEST FREE BET SIGN UP OFFERS FOR UK BOOKMAKERS

Petit is not the only Arsenal hero to back the club gambling on signing him.

He actually echoed the opinion of French defender Bacary Sagna, who said last month: “The Premier League suits Paul Pogba – I would love to see him joining Arsenal.

“It would be great – he has experience; he loves to play with young players around him – that is when he is most efficient.

“At the 2018 World Cup, that was when he was most efficient – he had friends around him.

“Arsenal have a young, fresh team, and I see him performing in an Arsenal shirt. He will get love from their fans.

“Now, he can start from scratch again – he’s had time away from football, and he’ll be back with a desire to get back into a good space and play football again.”

However, Petit did admit to doubts over the prospect of Pogba playing top-level football again, despite clearly being talented enough for it.

He added to Mail Sport: “I’m very happy for him, very happy for him. But he’s right now, 31 or 32, something like that, the last time he played a proper game was a year ago, in September.

Arsenal player ratings vs Newcastle

ARSENAL fell to defeat to Newcastle in a fresh blow to their title ambitions.

The Magpies won 1-0 thanks to a fine header from Alexander Isak.

Here, SunSport’s Jordan Davies rates the players…

DAVID RAYA – 6/10
Great early distribution to go long over the Newcastle press but nothing he could do with Isak’s pin-point header.

Was barely troubled in the second half but was forced to watch a lacklustre Arsenal dawdle to another defeat.

THOMAS PARTEY – 7
Looks really comfortable in that role, even if it is only temporary, but obviously lacks an attacking threat of a full-back which hindered Saka slightly.

Moved back into midfield on the hour mark with Arsenal chasing the game.

WILLIAM SALIBA – 7
A welcome presence back in the defensive line following suspension. Covered his defensive partner well and kept his cool amid Arsenal’s frustration.

GABRIEL – 5
Lost Isak in the box for Newcastle’s opener and nearly handed the hosts another chance with a sloppy pass out.

Normally a rock, this was one of those rare jittery displays we thought were a thing of the past.

JURRIEN TIMBER – 6
Looked good in attack but arguably should have closed down Gordon’s cross before the hosts took the lead and struggled to contain the England winger in the first half.

MIKEL MERINO – 5
Unfortunate not to get on the score sheet against his former club from close range after a scramble from a corner.

But as a whole, he currently looks lost in his position, unsure of when to go and when to sit deep, meaning Newcastle were able to prize Arsenal’s midfield open.

Feels like we are not seeing the best of him just yet.

DECLAN RICE – 6
On set-piece duty, his delivery was unusually poor, failing to beat the first man on numerous occasions and struggled to impose himself in open play too, even if he came close with a deflected effort in the second half before fluffing a great headed chance in injury time.

If he is going to be the anchor of this team and dictate play, he has got to be a lot better.

LEANDRO TROSSARD – 5
Pretty anonymous other than a few surging runs. Another player that looks lost in a floating No.10 role behind the main striker.

The Belgian is at his best cutting in and using his blistering pace. He can do neither through the middle against a compact opposition set-up.

BUKAYO SAKA – 6
Looked to be getting the better of Toon right-back Hall early on but his game faded after that, along with his team’s.

GABRIEL MARTINELLI – 7
Showed glimpses of being back to his buzzing best, taking on defenders and stretching the game for Arsenal, but only lasted an hour before being taken off.

KAI HAVERTZ – 6
Never got a sniff, but got to put that down to a complete lack of service from Arsenal’s wide players. He was desperate to attack a decent cross that never really came.

SUBS:
ETHAN NWANERI (MERINO, 61) – 6

Given a nice welcome to Tyneside with a crunching tackle from Willock seconds after coming on.

Found some nice pockets of space and look sharp as he blazed one over from range, but was always a big ask for him to be Arsenal’s saviour.

OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO (MARTINELLI, 61) – 5
Thrown on to bring tempo and control. Brought neither from an inverted left-back position.

BEN WHITE (TIMBER, 71) – 6
Had only completed half a session to prepare for this one having picked up a knock against Liverpool last weekend, so was a surprise to even see him at all.

GABRIEL JESUS (TROSSARD) – 5
Tasked with creating something special from out wide, but there is a reason the Brazilian is only a bit-part player nowadays.

JORGINHO (PARTEY, 86) – N/A

“For me, it will be a miracle if he can come back at the highest level. He’s got the quality as a footballer. Can he get the energy as a human being to fill the expectation? I’m not really convinced about that.”

Discussing his doping ban last month, Pogba told Sky Sports: “I am not a cheater.”

“I accept responsibility of taking the supplement but I didn’t triple-check it – even if it came from a professional.

“If I have to be punished, then I’m fine with it. But it should never have been four years. I will accept 12 months. When you see me, you know me. People know me.

“So even when everything happened people said: ‘We know Paul, he would never take that. If he did, he wouldn’t have known and it won’t have been on purpose’.

“And this it totally the truth. I’m an honest person, I would say it.”

Arsenal were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle on Saturday, losing ground in the title race and dropping to fifth place, seven points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The North Londoner’s view on a deal may have changed after bombshell news that sporting director Edu would be leaving to take up a triple-your-money position at Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ footballing empire.

How Edu made Arsenal great again

By Jack Rosser

EDU GASPAR has been on a mission to ‘Make Arsenal Great Again’ ever since returning to the club he played for 2019.

After a few wobbles early on – signing Nicolas Pepe will never reflect well – the Brazilian has, alongside Mikel Arteta, been crucial in the club’s transformation.

Arteta was brought in as the new manager within months of Edu’s return to North London and the former midfielder stuck by the boss when the pressure was on two years into the job.

Instead of making the knee-jerk decision to change manager again, the former Brazil international, joined forces with Arteta to institute a huge change of culture at The Emirates.

Overpaid toxic influences such as Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were purged from the dressing room and Arsenal set about adding strong characters.

Edu finally got the club competing in the transfer market again, with Martin Odegaard an outstanding capture for the club. In landing Declan Rice ahead of Manchester City last year Arsenal showed they couple compete for and sign some of Europe’s biggest talents once more.

Arsenal have become one of the most attractive clubs in the Premier League and one of the most efficient in the market.

While there have been big deals for the likes of Rice and Calafiori, there have been smart ones too – picking out value where others have lost hope.

Kai Havertz appeared as a surprising signing after a dreadful season at Chelsea. But after Edu gave the German space and support to rebuild his confidence he has developed into a fine asset for Arteta.

Edu does not only have a tight relationship with Arteta – who many fans will be glad signed a new deal before the sporting director’s departure – but the players too, always ready and waiting to check in, keep them going.

London Colney and The Emirates will feel a very different place for all of them without Edu.
