The 4 best supplements for penis health – to help reduce risk of sex-destroying condition

IT CAN feel like there’s a lot riding on being able get an erection, so having trouble performing can leave men feeling pretty deflated.

Erectile dysfunction – when you have difficulty getting or staying hard – is more common than you think.

Taking four key supplements may lower your risk of erectile dysfunction, a GP says[/caption] a poster showing the common causes of ed

Most men over the age of 40 will have difficulty maintaining an erection at some point or other.

In many cases, lack of sleep, stress or a few too many drinks might be the cause – but frequent bedroom woes might have their roots in common conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure.

If you’re suffering from ED, the NHS first advises you make a few lifestyle changes that could help.

Being overweight can up your risk of the condition so it’s worth trying to lose a few pounds if you’re having issues in the bedroom, as well as trying to exercise daily and switching to a healthier diet.

As stress and anxiety are also common culprits for ED, looking into ways to reduce them may have an effect too.

It’s also advised you quit smoking and limit your drinking.

You should see a GP or go to a sexual health clinic if you keep getting problems with your erection.

But if you want to go the extra mile to lower your risk ED, you can look down the supplement route.

Dr Donald Grant, a GP and senior clinical advisor at The Independent Pharmacy, said some supplements could help men improve their wellbeing and reduce the risk of this common condition.

“Overall, there’s a vast variety of supplements offering differing benefits for men – including lowering their risk of erectile dysfunction.

“However, when taking supplements, of any kind, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly and reduce alcohol or smoking – as these two activities can increase the risk of ED,” he noted.

“For further, more tailored advice on the most suitable supplements on an individual basis, people may find visiting their GP useful.

“This can provide clarity of any potential health risks and ensure individuals receive the most suitable supplements or additional treatments.”

Dr Grant said various supplements may help lower men’s risk of experiencing ED in the first place.

“These supplements have been proven to boost blood flow and genital function, helping men achieve and maintain an erection for longer periods,” the GP claimed.

“Let’s take a look at these key supplements and how they may help reduce men’s ED risk.”

He suggested four key supplements men could use.

1. L-arginine

First on Dr Grant’s list of supplements men could try to lower the risk of ED was L-arginine.

The GP said : “L-arginine is an amino acid found in various foods – including red meat, fish and dairy – but it can also be taken separately, as a supplement, to boost intake.

“It’s effective at managing men’s risk of ED as it relaxes blood vessels, dilating them and making it easier for blood to reach the penis.

“This can enhance men’s ability to achieve and maintain an erection, helping protect against the condition.”

You can nab a bottle of L-arginine capsules for £3.60 at Holland and Barrett.

2. Ginseng

Another blood flow-boosting supplement in Ginseng, according to Dr Grant.

“Ginseng, extracted from the Panax plant, is another great supplement, helping lower men’s risk of ED,” he said.

“The supplement has many benefits, including improving focus and boosting the immune system – however, it can also improve blood flow and reduce stress, two key factors for negating the risk of ED,” Dr Grant claimed.

“By increasing blood flow to the penis, men can enjoy sexual encounters without interference.

“Ginseng is a herbal supplement that can provide much-needed relief from ED while helping those without the condition avoid it.”

A pack of 60 ginseng tablets will cost you £7 at Boots.

3. Zinc

Zinc was Dr Grant’s third suggestion.

“The importance of zinc for male sexual function cannot be undermined,” he said.

“The mineral is required for maintaining healthy testosterone levels and a lack of zinc can lead to problems with libido and general sexual function.”

What is erectile dysfunction?

ERECTILE dysfunction - also known as impotence - is very common, especially in men over 40.

Erectile dysfunction is when you are either:

  • Unable to get an erection
  • Unable to keep an erection for long enough to have sex

Depending on the cause, you may still be able to get an erection at other times, such as when you wake up.

Sometimes you might also have low sex drive.

It’s not usually the sign of something serious but you should speak to a GP about it, especially if it’s causing you distress.

Possible causes include stress, tiredness, having too much booze, as well as some medicines.

But if your ED is persistent, it might be caused by:

  • High blood pressure or high cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Hormone problems

According to the GP, loading up on zinc may also help improve blood flow, which is tantamount to healthy erections.

“The vital mineral can be found in foods such as beef, cooked lobster and pumpkin seeds, but supplements are a great way of attaining zinc too,” Dr Grant went on.

“Vitamins such as Zarbee’s Immune Support (120ml) include several key nutrients, including zinc.”

Zarbee’s Adult Immune Support will cost you £4.74 at Boots.

4. Dehydroepiandrosterone

Dr Grant’s final supplement recommendation was was dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA).

This is a natural chemical compound produced in the body’s adrenal glands, the GP said.

“It’s a key source of testosterone and required to maintain sexual function, so supplementing when testosterone levels are depleted is an effective way of reducing men’s ED risk.”

He cited an American study from 2018, which found that low levels of DHEA were associated with a higher risk of the condition.

What are the physical causes of erectile dysfunction?

There are four main types of physical condition that can cause impotence in men:

  • Vasculogenic disorders such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes affect the flow of blood to your penis and cause erectile dysfunction.
  • Neurogenic conditions, which affect the nerves and include disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, are also responsible.
  • A hormonal disorder, affecting your hormones, is another example of a physical problem that can lead to impotence.
  • An anatomical condition is something that affects the tissue or structure of the penis and is the fourth physical cause. Old age is also commonly associated with impotence.

I’m a Dragon Age fan and The Veilguard has its moments, but is let down by inconsistent quality

DRAGON Age: The Veilguard nails it when it comes to the diversity of its characters and the options it gives you to roleplay, allowing you to build your own hero as whoever you feel like.

From the character creator to the dialogue options you get, to some well-written moments with your companions, it truly lets you be yourself in a high-fantasy world that accepts you for who you are.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard brings a diverse cast of likeable characters but fails to deliver their stories with consistent quality[/caption]
a video game with a character named valotar
BioWare
Combat mixes real-time attacks with an ability wheel that pauses the game that feels good for the most part[/caption]

That said, most of your dialogue choices and decisions don’t have an actual impact on the story but are rather there to add flavour and make your hero feel unique.

Other characters will remember what you have said and done to them, but apart from a few really major decisions you have to make, the story just runs its course.

Even some of the big choices feel inconsequential compared to most of developer BioWare’s previous titles.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers an intriguing story that gets better as it goes on, but you’ll likely notice a lot of inconsistency in the writing, especially when it comes to your companions’ subplots and other side content.

Some of the companion stories, such as that of the Veil Jumper mage Bellara, were polished both in terms of script and voice acting.

Conversely, others, like that of Shadow Dragon spy Neve, felt rather uninspired, both in how they were written and delivered in the game.

At times, the writing style is too modern and casual, and the occasional quips feel like something a superhero from the Marvel movies would say.

It certainly is a choice that many players will like, but some might see it as unfitting for the game’s high-fantasy setting, especially when the tone changes too abruptly during more serious moments.

The game’s mission structure also feels disjointed at times, and many of these inconsistencies could be blamed on the game’s long and troubled development.

Combat is rather easy to grasp, with melee and ranged basic attacks, dodges and parries and an ability wheel that pauses the game to let you execute your special moves and order your two companions to do so.

You have your skill tree with specialisations that unlock powerful ultimate abilities, and there are upgrades to your companions’ skills, too.

Yet, combat sections can feel a bit overwhelming at times as there’s too much happening all at once, to the point it becomes hard to aim your abilities at the enemy you want.

At more intense moments during combat, it can also become hard to read what attacks your enemies are trying to telegraph, complicating your choice between dodging and parrying.

Bosses also feel too samey and anticlimactic, reduced to a much bigger health bar that’s not difficult to deplete, but drags on for too long.

Combat sequences are complemented by environmental puzzles, but these never really evolve throughout the game, and quickly start feeling repetitive and a chore to solve.

Apart from these annoyances and uneven execution in story and gameplay, the game is very polished, and I didn’t encounter any major bugs or performance issues during my playthrough.

The game is also a joy to look at, and you’ll be spending a lot of time in its Photo Mode, capturing its gorgeous and varied locations.

It’s a letdown that the game could have used its fantastic biomes to serve a more coherent overall experience.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard definitely has its moments, but these are marred by inconsistencies, and limited player choice compared to previous games in the series.

Its side content fails to match the quality of its main story, and quickly becomes repetitive, and feels like a distraction that ruins the pacing of the game.

Who is Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s wife Leontien Slaats?

LEONTIEN Slaats is the wife of former Man United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Here’s what we know about Leontien and her relationship with Ruud, who has stepped into the Red Devils’ hot-seat following the sacking of former manager Erik ten Hag.

Leontien Slaats was born in the Netherlands, though her date of birth is not publicly known.

Meeting Ruud van Nistelrooy

She and Ruud van Nistelrooy reportedly got together in 2002.

Very little information is available about their early relationship.

They dated for two years before getting married.

Wedding

Ruud and Leontien tied the knot on July 10, 2004.

At the time, van Nistelrooy was at the height of his career, playing for Manchester United in the Premier League.

Ruud married Leontien in a private service near his hometown of Oss, North Brabant.

The couple were pronounced man and wife at around noon at the Heesch town hall.

A small group of friends and family then attended the ceremony in a Catholic church.

Crowds of fans cheered as the couple arrived at the Maria Magdalena Church in the village of Geffen, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) southeast of Amsterdam.

Leontien wore a white dress, while Ruud, who had turned 28 earlier the same week, wore a beige suit.

The couple refused to allow a webcam or any media in the church during the ceremony.

The same year the Dutchman finished among the top three scorers at Euro 2004 in Portugal, with four goals for the Netherlands.

Kids

The couple has two children together.

Their daughter Moa Annette was born in September 2006.

They also have a son named Liam, who was born in March 2008.

Despite the footballer’s fame, Ruud and Leontien have maintained a relatively private family life, and shielded their children from excessive public attention

Charity work

One area where Leontien has made a public impact is through her charitable work.

Together with her husband, she has been involved with SOS Children’s Villages, an international organisation dedicated to protecting the rights of children.

Ruud was officially appointed as a FIFA for SOS Children’s Villages Ambassador in the Netherlands on September 1, 2001.

Gary Lineker suggests ‘brilliant’ left-field coach Man Utd ‘probably won’t think about’ to replace Erik ten Hag

GARY LINEKER has thrown an unexpected name into the hat to replace Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman was sacked as Manchester United manager on Monday following weeks of speculation.

Match of the Day host Lineker joined Micah Richards and Alan Shearer to discuss United’s next steps on their podcast The Rest Is Football.

The panel speculated on who would come in to take over from Ten Hag long term.

And Lineker put forward Lee Carsley, England’s current interim coach, as a surprise candidate.

Lineker said: “I’m going to throw in a name here. I think it would be very interesting, he’s certainly a brilliant coach.

“A certain Lee Carsley – who they probably won’t think about.

“He’s a really imaginative coach, he plays attacking football.

“From what I heard from England players, they thought he was really good. Really interesting and thoughtful on the game.”

Lineker admitted Carsley had “struggled” with the media attention during his brief time as England boss.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

He added: “I think that’s quite easy to learn quickly.”

Carsley is currently in charge of the Three Lions following the departure of Gareth Southgate in the summer.

It’s not gone well during his time as interim manager with England losing at home to Greece earlier this month.

During his brief stint in charge he’s also guided England to wins home and away over Finland and a victory over Republic of Ireland.

He is still scheduled to take charge of the now crucial games away at Greece and home to Ireland as the Three Lions try to achieve promotion from their Nations League group.

Newly appointed boss Thomas Tuchel – who ironically was spoken to by Manchester United in the summer – will take over from the former Everton midfielder full-time in January.

Carsley will return to his previous role with England under-21s, after leading the Young Lions to Euro glory last year.

Ten Hag leaves Man Utd languishing in 14th place in the Premier League following his axe on Monday.

Why NOBODY is the right man to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd

SunSport’s DAVE KIDD says Erik ten Hag’s time at Man Utd is up… and explains what’s wrong with all the potential candidates to replace him.

THIS is a mid-table squad at an underachieving club, with a lot of unwanted players on big money.

And Ratcliffe is an instinctive cost-cutter who may not pay top dollar to the next manager.

If this club wasn’t called ‘Manchester United’, it wouldn’t be an especially desirable job.

The good news for United is that their new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, is a very decent judge of a manager.

He has been instrumental in three previous managerial appointments — Gareth Southgate for England, Graham Potter for Brighton and Eddie Howe for Newcastle.

None were wildly popular at the time, all were conspicuous successes.

Interestingly, Ashworth’s No 1 choice for the Newcastle job was Unai Emery, who turned him down to stay at Villarreal but has since proved that judgment right by excelling at Aston Villa.

And the Spaniard would be an excellent fit for United — yet there is next to no chance that he would abandon Villa’s Champions League campaign to take the Old Trafford job, not least because he isn’t a stark raving madman.

Howe would be another good candidate to succeed Ten Hag but, although he has become frustrated on Tyneside, the Saudis would surely not allow Ratcliffe to poach Howe, as they reluctantly did with Ashworth.

Potter is available but his Chelsea experience and lack of charisma would make him a tough sell.

Which brings us to Southgate, who remains close with Ashworth and is an excellent man-manager who was seriously considered by United last spring.

Yet, despite having led England to two of their three major finals, Southgate’s reputation for over-caution was only enhanced during the Euros.

Mauricio Pochettino, passed over twice by United, is out of the equation having taken the United States job.

Thomas Tuchel would also have been a popular and gettable option – but England got in there first.

Likewise, Roberto De Zerbi, now at Marseille after his brief Brighton stint sparkled then fizzled out.

Kieran McKenna — a gifted former United coach who has won back-to-back promotions with Ipswich Town — is an intriguing candidate but the imminent vacancy may come a year or so too soon.

Marco Silva, the extremely under-rated Fulham boss, has been on United’s radar and should not be discounted.

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim, last season’s ‘next big thing’, was passed over by West Ham as well as Liverpool this summer and is not an easy man to pin down.

Zinedine Zidane, who has taken over from Alan Curbishley as a 20-1 shot for every Premier League job, is a ‘figurehead’ manager and not an Ashworth type.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former United goal machine who joined Ten Hag’s coaching team in the summer is the bookies’ favourite. Simply because he’s in the building and he’s Dutch.

So, yes, getting rid of Ten Hag is the easy part.

He was spotted leaving his home shortly after the sacking, ducking in his car to avoid the cameras.

United released a terse 87-word statement to confirm Ten Hag would be leaving the club, with his assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy taking temporary charge.

It came after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham, with United guilty of missing a host of chances to wrap up three points.

Shock moment balaclava-clad sledgehammer gang smash up TANNING BEDS in late-night shop raid

THIS is the shocking moment a balaclava-clad sledgehammer gang smashed up tanning beds in a late-night shop raid.

Thugs have broken into TanTastic in the East Sussex seaside town of Worthing three times since it opened in August.

Footage from the first break-in on September 30 shows two men in balaclavas slipping into the salon after nightfall.

One of them is seen wielding a sledgehammer – which he used to smash a tanning bed.

The two men also slathered the smashed-up bed with thick bitumen paint.

TanTastic’s owner Peter Bills said the salon’s windows were also attacked with a hammer earlier this month.

And a fire has since broken out at the business – gutting its interior and forcing 40 neighbours to evacuate.

Peter told the Argus: “The CCTV images showed someone attacking the key box and taking it off the wall.

“An hour later two lads came back. They smashed them up with a sledgehammer and threw paint over them.

“The business is destroyed now. We took it on the chin the first two times but now staff are losing money because they can’t work.”

Cops are now probing the alleged arson on October 21 and have appealed for witnesses.

A 61-year-old man from Hampshire was arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger.

The man has been released on conditional bail until January 24, cops said.

Witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 1408 of 21/10.
