I tested three body creams at all price points – budget option has sophisticated formula
I GENERALLY loathe moisturising my body, but it is officially tights season – and I hate the idea of dusty legs more than the sticky feeling.
So this week I’ve put three new body creams to the test.
Budget
Q+A Hyaluronic Acid Post-Shower Moisturiser, £6 for 250ml, Boots: Firstly, I love that you apply this on to wet skin as soon as you step out of the shower, and dry off after.
It means I don’t have to think about when the best time to use it is and there’s no residue at all left behind.
It’s very lightweight, which means it’s not the most moisturising, so it is more suited to people with normal skin rather than dry or itchy.
I had to use quite a lot of product to cover my whole body, so the bottle won’t last long.
I can imagine it’ll come into its own during summer but it’s staying on the shelf for now.
Mid-range
Summer Fridays Summer Silk Nourishing Body Lotion, £28, 200ml, cultbeauty.co.uk: I am a huge fan of the brand’s Jet Lag Mask and Lip Butter Balm, and this tube contains the most sophisticated ingredients list of the three – think cocoa butter, shea butter, antioxidants, ceramides and glycerin.
So I had high hopes for this cream.
Thankfully, it lived up to them.
Because of the heavy moisturising ingredients, it leaves a slight residue, but nothing too greasy.
And I can easily go a couple of days between applying without my limbs feeling (or looking) dry.
Luxury
Glossier Creme de You, £45 for 215ml, uk.glossier.com: It goes against almost everything I believe when it comes to skincare but I much prefer tub-style packaging for body lotion.
It means you don’t have to worry about getting the packaging greasy when you need to go back for more.
It’s the thickest of the three, yet not greasy, so you can get dressed straight away.
Best of all is the fragrance, which matches my go-to perfume.
A cosy mix of musk, amber and violet and it lasts all day.
This is the one that I look forward to applying the most.
Pick of the week
I AM a huge advocate for budget fragrance.
You don’t have to spend hundreds to get great perfume, and headcare brand Arkive’s latest foray, Arkive Makes Scents, proves it.
It has launched four new unisex scents, all grounded in nature, for the price of just £30 for 50ml EDP.
If you’re not confident buying from a description, the Scents Discovery set, £25, contains a miniature of each so you can try before committing to a bottle.
