Barry Hearn warns ‘overweight’ darts stars to ‘go for a walk and watch what you eat’ in brutal statement
BARRY HEARN has urged “overweight” darts stars to walk more and eat better.
The former PDC chief arrowed a blunt warning to players – claiming they could blow away a fortune unless they get fitter.
Promoter Barry Hearn dished out an uncomfortable message[/caption]Matchroom president Hearn is one of Britain’s best-known sports promoters and rates darts “the best business in the world”.
But his verdict on oche aces might make some of them wince.
The 76-year-old reckons certain players should focus a bit more on their tummies to get a lot more from their tungsten.
He told The Barry Hearn Show: “I see a few darts players are a little bit overweight,” he said.
“So I tell them: ‘You’re in the best business in the world at the moment. It’s a licence to print money’.
“You can change your life, your family’s life, your children’s life, their children’s life. It’s all down to you.”
The former Leyton Orient chairman also believes players owe it to the public to set a good example with their lifestyles
He challenged them: “That’s the responsibility you take on. Are you up for it?

“If you are, look after yourself a bit more.
“Go out and have a walk every day. Watch what you’re eating. Just common sense.”
Hearn added: “We’ve got a limited amount of time, a limited asset, which is our life.
“And all we got to do is maximise the value of our asset.
“Fit it all in. Go for gold every day of your life. Keep smiling. Upset everybody.”
Ryan Thomas’s daughter Scarlett celebrates her 16th birthday – but Corrie star mum is missing amid feud
RYAN Thomas’s daughter Scarlett was treated to a boujee birthday celebration for her sweet 16 – but her famous mum was noticeably absent.
The ex Coronation Street stars’ relationship is still tense since Ryan accused Tina of smashing up his Range Rover with a baseball bat in 2022.
Ryan Thomas threw a part for his daughter’s 16th birthday[/caption] Scarlett’s mum Tina wasn’t at the party[/caption] Ryan pulled out all the stops for the bash[/caption]Despite their daughter turning 16 years old, the former lovers were unable to put their differences aside – instead having separate bashes for the teenager.
An insider told The Sun: “Scarlett had her party at Barca Bar in Manchester last night.
“Her dad Ryan was there keeping an eye on things, but mum Tina was nowhere to be seen.
“Ryan paid for and organised it, but because things are still tense between them Tina gave it a miss – nobody wanted a showdown.”
However another insider said Tina did intend to pop in but Corrie filming overran.
Ryan organised a party bus to take Waterloo Road star Scarlett and her friends to Barca Bar in Manchester last night.
He revealed Scarlett had banned him from the bash he threw for her because he’s “too embarrassing”.
“I’m actually gutted I’m not allowed on,” admitted Ryan.
However, he managed to convince his friend Zak to hop aboard the party bus in a hi-vis jacket to keep an eye on the teenagers.
Meanwhile Ryan was banned from entering the venue and instead waited outside spying on his daughter.
“Any other dads have anxiety at their daughter’s 16th birthday when they’re not allowed in?
“I’m keeping an eye on what’s going on.
“There’s a group of lads there… Hmm, we’ll see.”
Tina, who first played Sarah on the cobbles in 1999, began dating Ryan in 2003 after she split from Corrie actor Bruno Langley, who played Ryan’s on-screen brother Todd Grimshaw.
Ryan’s fiance Lucy was at the bash[/caption] Scarlett is well known in her own right for Waterloo Road[/caption] Tina has played Sarah Platt on Corrie for many years[/caption]Ryan dated Tina for six years before their shock break up in 2009 – a year after Scarlett’s birth.
She said at the time: “He said he didn’t love me any more.”
“Those were his words,” she added.
They managed to co-parent while Scarlett got older, but in 2019, after Ryan and his now-fiancee Lucy announced they were expecting their first child, Tina appeared to reignite their feud.
She posted: “Don’t always trust what you see on social media. Even salt looks like sugar.”
She later deleted the post, before writing: “Don’t waste your time with explanations. People will hear what they want to hear.”
Then in 2022, Ryan accused Tina of smashing up his Range Rover with a baseball bat.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Ryan doesn’t want any more drama with Tina and was left really shaken up by her actions.
“But he wants her to right the wrong when it comes to the cost he was saddled with. This incident has caused a huge amount of tension but Ryan wants to move on.”
Forgotten reality star has barely aged as she strikes sultry pose in sexy specs 18 years after fiery TV clash
IT has been nearly twenty years since Suzie Verico sparked the late Nikki Grahame’s explosive Big Brother, ‘Who is she’ outburst.
But now it seems that the years have been kind to the reality star, who has hardly aged a day since her 2006 stint in the BB house.
Suzie has hardly aged a day in 18 years since her Big Brother debut[/caption] The former model was hoping to launch her TV career after appearing on the show[/caption]The former model posed on her social media wearing wearing sexy secretary spectacles, with the caption: “Relaxing last night surfing the fashion pages.”
Indeed Suzie, 44, is the person for whom big brother fans are forever grateful for playing a role in creating TV gold.
When Suzie entered the house having won a ‘golden ticket’ from Nestle, she was informed that she must nominate a housemate. Suzie immediately chose Nikki Grahame which automatically put her up for eviction due to a twist.
The outcome enraged Nikki, who stormed into the diary room and launched into the famous rant that has been quote and copied ever since.
“‘I am feeling very venomous and angry,’ fumed Nikki.
She later concluded: ‘Who is she? Who is she? Who is she? Where did you find her? I can feel the venom pouring out of me as I breathe.’
Now living a quiet life away from the cameras, Suzie lives in Kent with her millionaire husband Cosmo Verico and their dogs.
Indeed it was Suzie’s husband who played a key role in getting her into the house, after she auditioned 3 times via the traditional route.
He purchased 60 boxes of Kit Kats looking for the golden ticket and then ended up spending £4,000 buying the longed-for item.
Like many Big Brother hopefuls, Former model Suzie had entered the show hoping to launch her TV presenting career, but it wasn’t to be.
But judging by her social media, Suzie’s life isn’t short of glamour, as she’s shared many photos of yacht excursions, fine dining experiences and luxury travel.
Limp Bizkit fans livid as UK tour with ‘criminal’ ticket prices sells out in under a minute
OASIS aren’t the only band coming in for criticism over highly-priced concert tickets which are almost impossible to get hold of.
US rockers Limp Bizkit are due to play four dates in the UK next year.
US rockers Limp Bizkit are due to play four dates in the UK next year[/caption] Fans have been left furious after tickets sold out in less than a minute[/caption] Frontman Fred Durst showed off a new look earlier this year[/caption]However, several fans have said they were unable to purchase the £90 a head tickets, which sold out in under a minute.
One X user wrote: “Tried every (sic) to get Limp Bizkit tickets and couldn’t even get to the basket stage. Wtf.”
Another suggested they’ll be making alternative arrangements after seeing the ticket prices.
They added: “Hahaha I also don’t have Limp Bizkit tickets because £90 is criminal! I’ll just watch the Wrestlemania 17 My Way package on a loop that night instead.”
A third asked: “How, in the year 2024, are Limp Bizkit charging £90 per ticket for a concert? BEFORE booking fees.”
While a fourth noted that while they appreciate ticket prices are high, it still won’t stop him trying.
They commented: “If you think for a 1 second that I’m going to spend £90 on a Limp Bizkit ticket for next year. Then you’re absolutely right, I am.”
Limp Bizkit’s 2025 Loserville UK tour kicks off in Glasgow on March 8, before heading to Birmingham, Manchester, and finishing at Wembley Stadium in London on March 16.
Between the Glasgow and Birmingham dates the band will also play a concert in Dublin, Ireland, on March 11.
Earlier this year British concert-goers at Download Festival in Derby were shocked at the difference in the appearance of Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
In June, the now 54-year-old Durst took to the stage sporting a big bushy grey beard – a far cry from the small brown beard he became synonymous with during the band’s nineties heyday.
Oasis fans were equally livid earlier this year despite initial excitement at the warring Gallagher brothers finally putting their differences to one side to reunite for a tour.
The brothers’ reunion followed their acrimonious split 14 years ago.
Would-be concert goers were enraged to discover they were being charged much higher prices for gigs – more than doubling in cost.
'It’s a huge win for Oasis fans who were left empty-handed during the initial frenzy'
BY Callum Wells, Showbiz Reporter
For Oasis fans who missed out on tickets for their comeback tour, there’s finally some good news! The band are adding two more gigs to their schedule.
When Oasis announced their upcoming shows, the excitement was off the charts.
The chance to see Noel and Liam Gallagher back together on stage had fans buzzing.
But when tickets went on sale, they sold out in a flash, leaving many frustrated and without a seat.
For so many, seeing Oasis live isn’t just about attending a concert – it’s about reliving their youth and being present for a piece of musical history.
So, the latest update is a huge win for those who were left empty-handed during the initial frenzy.
It’s a chance for fans to finally enjoy the live experience they’ve been eagerly waiting for.
Not only is it a nod to the dedication of their supporters, it’s a way to make sure as many people as possible can be part of the reunion – while, of course, raking in even more cash.
It also highlights how the band remains ever-relevant and beloved, even years after their 90s heyday.
It’s a reminder that, despite all the time that’s passed, Oasis’s music still resonates with fans old and young.
This was due to a system called dynamic pricing being used – which raised the cost of tickets depending on demand.
However, the resulting backlash has been so severe that a potential new law has been proposed.
The Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) Bill has been put forward to the House of Commons.
It would see concert-goers have guaranteed knowledge of maximum ticket prices before joining an online queue.
Fred has been part of Limp Bizkit since its very beginnings[/caption]My boyfriend turned into a different person after declaring his undying love
DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER declaring his undying love to me, my boyfriend suddenly dropped me, saying he didn’t have time for a relationship.
But he had time to slide into my friend’s DMs – a friend he’d said he didn’t even like. I’m so confused and hurt as I really believed he was the one.
I’m 30 and he’s 34. We were in a relationship for six months.
When we got together he seemed so sweet and caring, and he had no confidence, even though he was handsome and funny.
We spoke a lot about our lives, and he really opened up to me about his mental health issues.
He said he could talk to me in a way he couldn’t talk to anyone else, and that I was his soul mate.
Sex was amazing with him too – so intense because of the connection we had.
We were even planning to move in together.
Then, one night, a few weeks ago he messaged me out of the blue saying he wasn’t in the right place for a relationship. He wouldn’t explain, even when I begged.
He said he couldn’t even be friends because he had too much going on. I was gutted.
The next thing I heard, he’d sent my friend a message asking if she’d like to chat.
I love him so much and don’t understand how he can do this to me.
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: Finding out your relationship was over so suddenly and coldly must have been a huge and distressing shock.
Unfortunately, it sounds like your ex has decided he doesn’t want to be with you, and you can’t make him change his mind.
He may not understand why himself or he could be making excuses to move on to your friend.
Contacting her was disrespectful, and perhaps is a sign that he isn’t as kind and caring as you believed.
He likely has a pattern of behaviour like this. You deserve so much better.
Whatever his reason, what’s important now is that you put this behind you. It’s better that he doesn’t want to be friends – that would keep you hoping and wanting more.
My support pack, Mending A Broken Heart, should help you to start to heal from this relationship.
In time, it will hurt less.

Drivers over 70 face being forced to pay £85 to resit driving test if they want to keep licence under strict new rules
DRIVERS over the age of 70 could be required to take an £85 resit of their driving tests under new rules.
The proposed resit would be prescribed by GPs, based on patients’ ability to drive safely.
Drivers aged over 70 may be required to take a resit of their driving tests under new rules[/caption]The plan by charity IAM RoadSmart aims to address the high number of accidents involving old-aged drivers, according to the Department for Transport.
The data, released last year, suggested that drivers over 80 were more likely to be involved in serious accidents than younger drivers.
Under current rules, drivers over 70 are forced to renew their licences every three years.
However, there are no measures to ensure older drivers are up to road safety standards, according to the charity.
Director of Policy and Standards Nicholas Lyes said: “We’re concerned there’s nothing formally in place to help older drivers who want to keep their driving in check, and moreover, no process for GPs to be able to refer an older driver who they have serious concerns over their ability to drive.”
It comes as charity Age UK warned against damaging “caricatures” of older drivers – many of whom are able to drive without issues.
This week, motorists over 70 were also warned that if they failed to renew their licences every three years, they could be slapped with brutal £5000 fines.
And, they could even face prosecution – with community service or even prison sentences.
Age UK said: “When you reach the age of 70, your driving licence expires – but this doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stop driving.
“If you want to continue, you just need to renew your licence. You’ll need to renew it every three years after that. Renewal is free of charge.”
Fortunately, it won’t be down to drivers to remember as they’ll be reminded by DVLA.
Drivers can either apply online or through a physical D46P application form, which will arrive in the post with the return address.
To apply, you’ll need your email address, home addresses for the last three years, National Insurance number and UK passport number.
Applications should take around three weeks to process after being sent back.
Current rules about licences after you turn 70
YOU will need to renew your British driving license if you’re 70 or over, or will be 70 in the next 90 days.
Once you reach 70, you must renew your license every three years
To renew your license is completely free
Around three months before you are due to renew the DVLA should contact you
They will post a form which you can sign and send back – this will take around three weeks
Alternatively you can renew online which may be quicker
If you would like to, you can change the photograph at the same time
Failure to renew your license could lead to severe penalties, including a £5,000 fine
My mobile hairdresser has signalled she’d like to offer more than a head massage
DEAR DEIDRE: MY mobile hairdresser has made it very clear she would like to offer me more than a head massage and I’m so tempted to have an affair with her.
I’m 40 and my wife is 42. We’ve been married for 13 years and have a son, seven.
Our hairdresser is very attractive and in her early 30s.
I do love my wife, and we get on brilliantly – except in the bedroom.
She shut up shop sexually after our son was born.
For a while, she’d go along with sex just to make me happy. But I could tell she didn’t enjoy it, and that was a turnoff.
Eventually, I stopped asking. I felt too rejected and unattractive.
But I’m still a young man and I am extremely frustrated and miserable. I don’t want to be celibate.
This hairdresser started flirting with me whenever we were alone.
Originally we’d all have our haircut on the same evening, but then my wife’s hours changed so now she cuts my hair in the day and my wife and son’s in the evening.
From them on her head massages definitely became more attentive and I admitted they were the best thing I’d felt in a long time.
Quick as a flash she said ‘what a shame, and a waste’. She went on to tell me I was a good looking man and that she wasn’t only good at cutting hair.
Since then, I’ve fantasised about sex with her and am on the brink of messaging to ask if she wants to meet.
Would it be so wrong to do this, when my wife has made it clear she doesn’t desire me?
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: Having an affair is never the answer, especially if you still love your wife.
You’d feel guilty, might get caught, and it wouldn’t solve the issues in your marriage.
Of course it’s flattering but you’d be wise to start visiting a barbers to avoid temptation.
Instead, talk to your wife and tell her why intimacy is so important to you and how much you’re missing as a couple.
Ask her if she will have couples counselling with you. My support pack on Counselling tells you more about this.
The College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (cosrt.org.uk) can put you in touch with reputable counsellors.
My support pack, Reviving a Woman’s Sex Drive, might also be helpful.
