High Street, Birmingham

‘Better than Centreparcs’

Heather Main, 39, a married mum of two from Worcester, says: “This is the UK’s biggest Primark at 160,000 sq foot over five floors and has three places to eat, including a Greggs. I wonder if I should cancel my family trip to Centre Parcs and spend half term here instead.

“As I meander through the store, voted the best in the UK by Fab Daily readers, I am amazed to see every collaboration collection is fully stocked, unlike in my local branch in Worcester. My favourite section, the womenswear, is laid out over two floors and the clothes are neatly arranged.

“The beauty section of the store is epic too and offered a variety of in-store treatments. If I’d had more time I’d have loved to stop and get my eyebrows done .”

Banbury Gateway Shopping

‘Fantastic flower shop’

MARRIED mum of two Rachel Tompkins, 44, from Bicester, says: “I’ve been after some Rita Ora knits so I was delighted to see them right by the door when I arrived at Banbury Primark.

“Though only two storeys high, I was impressed by the organisation – but sadly, there wasn’t much left in the celeb collab jumper section.

“The women’s section had lots of lovely coats and dresses, and there were reduced items on rails, but they were a bit messy. The changing cubicles were clean and airy.

“I was blown away by the home section, which had a huge array of homeware. My highlight was the flower shop – a stall of artificial plants and flowers. I hope they open a cafe – then I’ll go for a whole day.”

Broadmead, Bristol

‘Great designer dupes’

HELEN O’BRIEN, 45, from Bristol, says: “Walking into Bristol Primark, I was impressed. It was spacious, clean and tidy – even the fitting rooms were zen.

“I was drawn to the Nike Dunks dupes and a silver sparkly minidress.

“There’s a state-of-the-art and reasonably priced beauty bar, too. Eyebrow threading was £8.

“The excellent Wornwell concession sells pre-loved clothes from quality brands like Adidas, Levi’s and North Face.

“On the down side, none of the nine tills on the top floor were in operation. I queued for 11 minutes at a till on a lower floor and one customer was shouting for more staff to come. Aside from the long queues, it was a relaxed shopping experience.”

Monks Cross, York

‘Super stocking fillers’

Alex Lloyd found great stocking fillers at Monks Cross Primark, York[/caption]

MARRIED mum-of-two Alex Lloyd, 43, from York, says: “Mums will love this out-of-town store and not just for the roomy lifts.

“The first floor has a vast kids’ section, with plenty of each size and brands such as Disney and Minecraft.

“There’s an ace toy section, perfect for pocket money and stocking fillers, while the homes section is wall-to-wall seasonal specials.

“The two-storey store is tidy and well-stocked, while the changing rooms are clean and offer male, female and unisex areas. Crucially, the curtains stretched right across, with no gaps.

“The ground floor, which is devoted to womenswear, has its new Paula Echevarria line taking centre stage, while the Rita Ora range is spread around.”

Ventura Retail Park, Tamworth

‘Calm, clean experience’

Katy-Rose Meaney says she can see why Tamworth’s Primark was voted in the top six

KATY-ROSE MEANEY, 38, a mum-of-three from Wolverhampton, says: “Although it is much smaller than many stores, I can see why it was voted in the top six. It is bright and airy, really clean and well organised over two floors – a refreshing change from the chaos of larger ones and makes for a more relaxed shopping experience.

“The downside of a smaller store is less choice – I struggled to find a decent date-night lingerie set.

“But with seven staffed tills on the top floor, the short queue in front of me disappeared quickly and every staff member was polite, friendly and happy to help.

“Sadly, the store isn’t big enough for a themed café, nail bar, salon or dining experience.”

Broadgate, Coventry

‘Points for pre-loved’

Linda Aitchison was impressed by Broadgate Primark, Coventry[/caption]

LINDA AITCHISON, 56, a mum-of-two from Wolverhampton, says: “I love Primark as much as anyone, but I was blown away by Broadgate.

“The 60,000 sq ft, three-storey shop is light and airy.

“I’m not the world’s best when it comes to recycling, but it was great to see a pre-loved clothing collection point by the door where all you have to do is drop off your old stuff.

“While the women’s and kids’ sections are currently packed with vibrant colours, festive fun and sparkle, the men’s selection seemed lacklustre with rows of grey and black attire.

“But Britpop fans could be ‘mad for it’ with the choice of men’s anoraks that look just right to celebrate the Oasis reunion.”

Exact tiny ‘mark’ missing from rare 50p coin sold for 200 times its value & what it means if you have one

A RARE 50p coin, sold for 200 times its usual value, had a particular tiny “mark” missing – but what does this mysterious mark mean?

The King Charles Atlantic Salmon 50p was advertised as having “no privy mark” on eBay.

It later sold for a whopping £102 following 23 bids from eager collectors.

A privy mark is a tiny crown symbol stamped onto some coins on the “heads” or “obverse” side – or on the rim.

In the case of the King Charles Atlantic Salmon 50p, first minted in 2023 in celebration of Charles‘ ascension of the throne, the privy mark is a small Tudor crown.

It can be spotted just behind the King’s head.

Only a small number of coins in circulation have a privy mark, as they’re only etched onto coins produced for special occasions – such as coronations and jubilees – and for collector’s editions.

The limited number of coins with privy marks means they have greater collectability factor – and are generally more valuable.

But, confusingly, 2023 Atlantic Salmon 50p coins are actually more valuable without privy marks.

There were only 200,000 of these mark-less coins put into general circulation, making them even rarer than the Kew Gardens 50p – and therefore extremely valuable.

As well as the recent £120 sale, another example of the same coin sold for £110 this week.

By contrast, you quite easily can buy the version with a privy mark – which were never released into circulation – direct from the Royal Mint.

They are sold as part of “Definitive Annual Sets” for £34.

So, if you come across a King Charles Atlantic Salmon dated 2023 and without a privy mark in your loose change, you may just be in for a hefty profit.

In fact, a bag of these plain-looking coins sold this week for a huge £1,700 after a bidding war.

How to spot rare coins and banknotes

Rare coins and notes hiding down the back of your sofa could sell for hundreds of pounds.

If you are lucky enough to find a rare £10 note you might be able to sell it for multiple times its face value.

You can spot rare notes by keeping an eye out for the serial numbers.

These numbers can be found on the side with the Monarch’s face, just under the value £10 in the corner of the note.

Also if you have a serial number on your note that is quite quirky you could cash in thousands.

For example, one seller bagged £3,600 after spotting a specific serial number relating to the year Jane Austen was born on one of their notes.

You can check if your notes are worth anything on eBay, just tick “completed and sold items” and filter by the highest value.

It will give you an idea of what people are willing to pay for some notes.

But do bear in mind that yours is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

This is also the case for coins, you can determine how rare your coin is by looking a the latest scarcity index.

The next step is to take a look at what has been recently sold on eBay.

Experts from Change Checker recommend looking at “sold listings” to be sure that the coin has sold for the specified amount rather than just been listed.

What are the most rare and valuable coins?

Antony leaves Fenerbahce stadium on crutches after Man Utd star carried off on stretcher in Europa League clash

ANTONY left Fenerbahce’s stadium on crutches following Manchester United’s Europa League draw.

The Brazilian initially came off the bench on 73 minutes with the game level at 1-1.

Antony left Fenerbahce’s stadium on crutches

But Antony was forced off himself just before the final whistle after going down with what looked to be a calf injury.

The winger was stretchered off by the physio team and was later pictured leaving the ground on crutches.

Antony has struggled for form this season with just five appearances and one goal to his name.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring in Turkey before Youssef En-Nesyri levelled five minutes after the break.

It means United have drawn all three of their Europa League matches.

And under-fire manager Erik ten Hag spoke out following Antony’s unfortunate injury.

He said: “It’s really unlucky for him. I feel real compassion for him, when he worked so hard in training.

“His training performances are that good that he deserved to come on. When you have to come off so quickly, that is really sad to see.
