Arsenal vs Liverpool preview

Both Arsenal and Liverpool return to domestic duties following their Champions League exploits midweek.

The Gunners were far from their brilliant best as they edged past Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 at the Emirates.

Liverpool, meanwhile, looked more accomplished as they extended their 100% winning record in the Champions League after beating RB Leipzig by the same scoreline.

But a tougher assignment lies ahead this weekend in a clash that could have huge implications on the Premier League title race.

Arsenal sit in third position with 17 points from a possible 24 having suffered a shock defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

There wasn’t huge cause for concern given it was Arsenal’s first defeat for 17 matches, and they played most of the clash without dismissed centre-back William Saliba.

But there will be concern over their swathe of absentees.

Saliba, arguably their most important defender, serves a one-match suspension, while Mikel Arteta revealed that Bukayo Saka was “unlikely” to feature.

Riccardo Calafiori sustained a knee injury during Tuesday’s Champions League victory, while it’s unclear if Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber are available for selection.

There are some reasons to be cheerful though with Arsenal unbeaten in their last four Premier League games against Liverpool.

Liverpool are looking like a very well-oiled machine as they sit top of the division with the only blemish on their record that surprise defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are the first team in the club’s history to win each of their opening six away games of a season.

They’ve won eight on the spin in all competitions whilst conceding the fewest goals than any other team in the Premier League this season (3), while they also have the lowest xG against total (6.2).

I think the absence of William Saliba could be pivotal in this weekend’s encounter.

Since making his debut, Saliba has missed 11 Premier League matches. In those games, Arsenal’s win rate dropped from 74% to 45%, while their average goals per game rose to 1.6 from 0.8.

Mikel Arteta’s side may also be without the influential Bukayo Saka, who’s created a whopping 27 league chances this season — more than Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz combined.

A weaker defence and less potent attack could well lead to Arsenal’s first back-to-back league defeats since 31st December 2023.

Goals?

Not in my opinion. Liverpool aren’t blowing sides away this season and have only won ONE of their last FIVE by more than a one-goal margin.

It’s a more controlled Liverpool this season and that’s evident from their defensive stats having conceded just THREE league goals in eight outings with the lowest xG against total.

Arsenal’s xG against total is also pretty impressive given they’ve had three red cards this season, while the pair have combined for EIGHT clean sheets.

VINTED has crashed leaving shoppers and sellers locked out of their accounts.

Over 1,000 users have complained about being unable to use the second-hand marketplace this morning.

Reports on Downdector show over 71% of customers have been unable to use the app.

Meanwhile, another 21% have not been able to log into their accounts.

People have taken to X, formally known as Twitter to complain.

One user wrote: “Is Vinted App not working for anybody I’ve got the wheel of eternity but it’s not loading?”

Others said that when they try to log on the app on their phone they were met with a message stating that something has gone wrong.

The issue comes as it is payday for thousands of workers across the UK, with many looking to treat themselves to some online shopping.

Another user said: “It’s payday and Vinted isn’t working? Like… what else I meant to do all day.”

The Sun has approached Vinted for a comment.

Vinted has skyrocketed in popularity over the past few years, as it has become an easy way for households to flog their old items for extra cash.

It has become a lucrative business for many people, with some racking up £1,000’s each year by selling online.

Vinted has capitalised on this, launching a “pro” version of the app, which allows sellers to register as sole traders and be identified as professional sellers.

The upgrade is free to use and users can sell an unlimited number of of items for free.

However, The Sun revealed the second-hand seller had paused new registrations to its new professional selling feature after it made some users’ National Insurance (NI) numbers publicly available, putting them at risk of fraud.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) advises that you should not share your NI number with anyone who does not need it to prevent identity fraud.

The Sun has learned that the Independent Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is now investigating the breach after a number of sellers reported it.

Commenting on the issue a spokesperson for Vinted said: “For a small number of Vinted Pro members, their NI number was visible on their profile page.

“While our teams were working on fixing the issue completely, we temporarily halted the ability to upgrade accounts to Vinted Pro.

“We apologise to anyone that was affected and encourage members who have questions to reach out to our member support team.”

What can I do if my money isn’t paid out?

If you’re struggling to get your cash from Vinted, first get in touch with the app and let it know you haven’t received your money.

Provide evidence to show you haven’t received the money such as your latest bank statements.

You can contact the website’s member support team directly via the app if you are still experiencing issues.

BRIGHTON great Bobby Zamora has returned to the club as a coach.

Zamora, 43, scored 90 goals in 162 appearances for the Seagulls over two spells as a player.

He will take up the role of ‘striker consultant’ on Fabian Hurzeler’s staff.

The two-cap England man is set to work with Albion’s forwards twice a week to try to sharpen their work in the box.

Zamora said: “I’m pleased to be back to help the strikers to achieve their goals, working on all elements of football on and off the pitch.

“Hopefully I can play a part in helping the club achieve further success.”

It’s been one of the great rivalries in the sport over the past decade including a fierce 2017 World Final won by the Dutchman.

MVG, 35, said: “Gary is always going to be a blockbuster. Whether you have a good or bad game, it’s always going to be a tense game.

“We don’t want to lose to each other. We know each other really well.

“I’m feeling comfortable. I feel good. I know I can hurt him on the right moments.

“We all know Gary Anderson, one of the best players I have ever saw in my life.

“But he is also a part-timer. So I need to make sure I’m going to do the right thing and bet on my own game.”

Van Gerwen also believes that his enjoyment for the game is key to his continued success.

He added: “I think Luke Humphries has had a fantastic 12/13 months so far.
