Radio legend shocks fans as he opens up a PIE shop – months after quitting huge breakfast show
Roman Kemp has swapped presenting for pastry – and opened a classic East End pie shop.
The TV and radio star has launched the Easy Peasy Pie Shop, on New Inn Yard in London’s Shoreditch – but it’s for one day only.
Radio DJ Roman kemp outside his new pie shop in London’s East End[/caption] Roman recently quit his role in the helm of Britain’s biggest breakfast show on Capital FM[/caption]Roman, 31, an avid Arsenal fan and self-confessed meat pie enthusiast, frequently enjoys them on matchdays – and has now been given the opportunity to share his love for the snack with others.
The eatery was opened by Vodafone to celebrate the launch of One Touch Switch – now making switching to its reliable full fibre broadband as easy as pie.
And the opening of the shop, he worked alongside ‘easy cook’ Lisa Faulkner, to serve an array of the nation’s favourite pies and fillings.
Roman Kemp said: “When asked to help serve up delicious pies, I couldn’t say no.
“Pies are a staple for me, whether I’m at home or at the footie, so I couldn’t resist the chance of learning the art of making them and getting my hands on one for free.
“Lisa has taught me a lot today about the craft of a good pie, but I think I’ll stay away from the kitchen as it doesn’t seem that easy – not like switching broadband, which is easy as pie.”
The pie shop, situated in the heart of London’s East End, dished out pies for free to hungry punters for one day only.
Alongside Roman, Lisa Faulkner was seen serving up easy eats including Beef and Craft Ale, Chicken, Ham and Leek and a Vegan Jackfruit and Craft Ale, dishing up more than 400 free pies in total.
The launch of the Easy Peasy Pie Shop comes as research reveals that changing broadband provider has been anything but ‘easy as pie’ according to 63 per cent who have put off switching.
The research of 2,000 adults found 20 per cent think it’s too much faff and 17 per cent see the process as too complicated.
Whatsmore, 70 per cent would make the switch if the process was easier, and 75 per cent if someone managed it for them, according to the OnePoll.com data.
Lisa Faulkner, speaking at the Vodafone pop-up added: “Who doesn’t love a pie?
“Keeping things simple in the kitchen is priority for me so they’re a family favourite in our house – easy to make and comforting at the same time.
“Switching broadband may sometimes feel as daunting as a complicated recipe, but it’s now easier than ever.”

Watch shock moment Billie Eilish takes a nasty fall on stage in front of thousands of fans – then shows off HUGE bruise
BILLIE Eilish became the latest singing superstar to suffer a nasty fall live on stage last night when she took a tumble in New York.
The Birds of a Feather singer, 22, was making her way down stairs inside Madison Square Garden when she lost her footing and crashed to the floor.
Billie showed off her bruise after the gig[/caption]Fortunately, Billie’s blushes were spared somewhat due to the fact the staircase was partially obscured from the audience and the lighting was low.
After the gig, Billie was in good spirits and shared her nasty leg bruise on social media.
Fans were quick to wish her well.
One wrote on X: “Ow that looks so painful.”
Another posted: “Thats bad! Gws billie.”
A third said: “Sending you all the healing vibes, Billie. Take care of yourself.”
Billie’s accident comes just days after singer Olivia Rodrigo, 21, plummeted through a trapdoor at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
The Good 4 U hitmaker had been performing in front of a 14,000-strong crowd when disaster struck.
While running across the stage with her microphone, Olivia suddenly fell through the hatch, which appeared to have been left open by mistake after an earlier part of the show.
The shocking moment was captured on video and shared across social media.
Her adoring fans’ horror was audible when Olivia briefly disappeared from sight.
However, she quickly managed to grab onto the edge of the stage and pull herself back up.
Unharmed from the blunder, Olivia reassured the audience with humour, saying: “Oh my God! That was fun, I’m OK! Sometimes there is just a hole in the stage, OK… where was I?”
The singer got a lot of sympathy from fans[/caption] Olivia Rodrigo had a nasty stage fall in Australia last week too[/caption]Prince Harry’s a ‘lamb to the slaughter’, claims ex-Vanity Fair editor who says he ‘follows Meghan Markle like a child’
PRINCE Harry has been described as a “lamb to the slaughter”, by ex-Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown.
Tina appeared on The Ankler podcast with Janice Min to promote her new Substack newsletter, Fresh Hell, and gave her views on the Sussexes.
Prince Harry stepped back as a senior working royal in 2020 with wife Meghan Markle[/caption] Former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown claims Harry ‘blindly followed’ Meghan[/caption]The former editor was asked if she thought Prince Harry would remain living in the US and be married to Meghan Markle in 10 years time.
She answered: “I think he’s pretty much in the thrall of Meghan… He’s the lamb to the slaughter in this situation. I mean, he was terribly impressed by Meghan. He thought that she knew it all.
“She persuaded him that she was the savvy Hollywood wheeler dealer, who would come in and make them stars and all the rest of it. And he just sort of blindly followed her like a child, really.”
However, she praised the Duke of Sussex for how he interacts with the public during engagements.
Tina shared: “When he goes on these much mocked foreign trips, he’s just really good at it. He’s charming, he’s funny, he’s sweet, he’s authentic again. He has a real sense of being true and real, and he’s flawless at it.
“So it’s actually very sad that he can’t go back to England and play that role, which is desperately needed, because now the monarchy is a skeleton of itself.”
The former editor claimed Prince Harry would only be able to return to the UK without Meghan, but doubted it would happen due to the alleged rift between Harry and William.
During the chat, Tina also criticised Meghan’s judgement, and said: “She has all these people, asks them their opinion, and then doesn’t follow it”.
Tina has not held back talking about the Sussexes over the years, famously describing the couple’s ‘Megxit’ and leaving the royal family as a “disaster”.
Harry’s new home?
Prince Harry is ‘keeping a door open’ to the Royal Family by buying a home in Portugal, as it “could be a very nice way in”, claimed a royal expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex snapped up a luxurious property in Alentejo, Portugal, just a stone’s throw away from Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
As reported by the Mail, the couple plan to set up a base there after being seen in the area last September following the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun Harry’s close bond with his cousin should be “encouraged” and will ” keep these avenues of communication open”.
The former editor claimed Prince Harry would only be able to return to the UK without Meghan[/caption] Tina has not held back talking about the Sussexes over the years[/caption]The royal author suggested a friendship between Harry and Eugenie’s children “could be a wonderful route in” to royal life.
Mr Vickers hinted it may provide a way to form connections with Prince William and Princess Kate’s trio, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
The Sussexes share two children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
They are similar in age to Eugenie and Jack’s two sons – August, three, and Ernest, one.
Why did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step back as senior working royals?
PRINCE Harry has always wanted out of the Royal Family and the repercussions will be felt for years, an expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex has lived in California with his wife Meghan Markle since 2020 after they dramatically quit their jobs as working royals and moved across the pond.
Katie Nicholl, who is Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show that Megxit did not come as a surprise to her.
Speaking to The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, the commentator explained: “Anyone who knows Harry is aware he’s always wanted a way out of the Royal Family.
“He’s said multiple times on the record that he wished he’d never been born a prince.
“I think he really is living the life he wants to now. It’s very, very sad that it’s played out the way it has.”
In a statement made on the Sussexes’ Instagram account as they stepped back in 2020, the pair wrote: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.
“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”
Mr Vickers told The Sun: “I think what you say about you know the connection between the Brooksbank children and Prince Harry’s children could be very significant as the years go on, because they will know their cousins as they grow up. And that could be a very nice way in.
“I have always thought that it’s very sad for Archie and Lilibet that that one day it’ll dawn on them that their cousin is going to be the King of England one day, and normally you’d really rather like to get involved with all that I would have thought, it could be a very interesting extension to life, and so that could be a wonderful route in.
“I think that’s a very significant point.”
Mr Vickers also felt there is “a big part” of Harry “that wonders what he gave up”.
The royal expert believed he would “encourage” his children to have the same options he had as a working royal – something he himself “was terribly good at”.

HEAVY hitters like Erling Haaland (£8.9m), Cole Palmer (£6.5m) and Mohamed Salah (£7.4m) are big players in the world of Dream Team but their immense popularity means their returns often have little impact on Mini League standings and overall rank.
Manchester City’s No9 appears in 72.6% of teams which means the majority of gaffers are in the same boat when he plays.
It’s often the case that the cheaper, lesser-owned players are the ones who actually make a difference.
Take Morgan Rogers (£3m) for example.
A reminder that Rogers performed this celebration before Cole Palmer[/caption]The Aston Villa midfielder is currently the top performer in Gameweek 8 having banked 18 points from two outings.
He scored against Fulham on Saturday, by virtue of a helpful deflection, but produced an even more impressive display against Bologna on Tuesday night.
Rogers assisted Jhon Duran’s (£3m) goal against the Serie A outfit and earned three bonus points as a useful cherry on top, largely because of his impressive dribbling statistics.
The 22-year-old registered SEVEN successful dribbles against Bologna to take his tally for the season to 31.
MOST SUCCESSFUL DRIBBLES THIS SEASON
- Morgan Rogers – 31
- Mohammed Kudus – 29
- Jeremy Doku – 24
- Adama Traore – 21
- Eberechi Eze – 20
- Iliman Ndiaye – 20
- Bukayo Saka – 18
- Omari Hutchinson – 18
- Savinho – 18
- Luis Diaz – 17
There’s generally a positive correlation between the most prolific dribblers and bonus points and so Rogers’ supremacy in this department is hugely encouraging.
The England Under-21 star was used sparingly in the second half of 2023/24 following his mid-season transfer from Championship side Middlesbrough but he’s established himself as a regular starter this campaign.
In fact, Pau Torres (£3.5m) and Youri Tielemans (£4m) are the only outfield players to have played more league minutes for Villa at this stage.
Rogers’ overall tally of 61 points puts him joint-12th among Dream Team midfielders but the key to his viability is his affordability.

Even now, after a spree of 41 points from his last five appearances, he’s available for just £3m prior to Gameweek 9 – although his price will inevitably increase when the next changes occur.
To put that into perspective, only two other players among the top 50 in the overall rankings are currently available at a lower price – Christian Eriksen (£2.8m) and Dejan Kulusevski (£2.7m), who both have fewer points than Rogers.
This is all to say Villa’s No27 offers exceptional value for money.
A Dream Team gem in terms of value-for-money[/caption]Rogers, who features in 9.7% of teams at the time of writing, has passed the eye test from the get-go but it was notable that his returns didn’t align with the impressive nature of his performances across the first few Gameweeks of the season.
However, he’s reaped his deserved rewards more recently and looks a solid long-term selection.
Essentially, Rogers is a key player for a top-four side, one with European fixtures to bolster their schedule, and an excellent enabler at £3m.

English manager SACKED by EFL club after leaving side rooted to bottom of League One table
BURTON have SACKED manager Mark Robinson with the club rock bottom of League One.
Robinson, 58, left his previous job as Chelsea’s development squad boss to become Burton head coach in June.
But Robinson has been dismissed just five months after joining, with Brewers already 11 points from safety.
Burton are winless in League One this season, having lost seven and drawn four of their opening 11 games.
Robinson has only won only ONE of his 14 games in charge – in the EFL Trophy.
And the club’s Scandinavian owners decided enough was enough following Tuesday’s 3-2 home loss to Wycombe Wanderers.
He was the first appointment made by Burton’s new owners – the Nordic Football Group – when the Sweden-based consortium took control of the east Staffordshire club in the summer.
Sporting director Bendik Hareide said that they ” had great regret over the fact that this has not worked out in the way any of us would have wanted”.
He told the club website: “We have to be objective with our decision-making, and we feel we have reached a point where a change is necessary to improve the team’s results.
“We believe we have a talented squad, and we remain committed to our football strategy. Now is the time to re-group and look to deliver a positive season for our fantastic supporters.”
Burton have conceded 24 goals this season, second behind Peterborough have sunk 25 – but also scored that many as well.

I get random men to finance my life but still shop at Poundland – staff say I should be banned for being too rich
A WOMAN who gets random men to finance her life, has revealed that staff have tried to ban her from her local Poundland for being too rich.
Saffron Boswell, 25 uses her “pretty privilege” to go “fishing” in posh Mayfair bars for rich men who want to spoil her.
Saffron said that staff have tried to ban her from her local pound shop[/caption] She said she loves the budget store, despite being loaded[/caption]She claims that she has been gifted over £40,000 in handbags, clothes and jewellery, and added that men have even paid for her to have plastic surgery.
However, despite being showered in gifts, Saffron said that she still adores heading to her local Poundland to pick up bargains.
“The lady on the till said I shouldn’t be shopping in the pound shop if I’m earning so much money“, she revealed in a recent TikTok video.
“But I love a bit of pound shop.”
Saffron then made a beeline for the bargain store’s clothing section, and picked up a selection of clothes from their Barbie range, including a hoodie and a crop top.
She was tempted to buy the whole outfit, but unfortunately the trousers didn’t fit right.
She then picked up a t-shirt from the children’s section and purchased it to wear as a tight fitting crop top.
Saffron had to carefully scurry around the store, to try and avoid the checkout girl who tried to ban her for being too rich.
“She really doesn’t want me to be here”, she said.
However, she managed to make it around the whole shop without getting discovered, and also picked up some bleach and a Disney water bottle.
“When I got to the checkout, the woman still wasn’t there, today was a safe trip to the pound shop”, she said.
Saffron’s (@saffronmariexx) video has gone viral, amassing over 871,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.
What is a sugar daddy and how does the relationship work?
A sugar daddy is a generous older man who spends lavishly on his mistress, girlfriend or boyfriend.
He’s often a businessman, who considers himself too busy for conventional dating – and isn’t short of a few bob.
A sugar baby, meanwhile, is normally an attractive younger woman who can’t afford her luxury lifestyle.
The couple will usually establish a financial agreement early on – as well as their boundaries, such as whether or not they’re considering a sexual relationship.
Some sugar babies ask for a monthly allowance, while other get ‘expenses’ in the form of glam holidays and shopping sprees.
While a growing number of sugar babies are university students, who turn to their ‘daddy’ to pay their fees.
One person said: “No matter how much money I have I’d always go on a pound shop trip.”
A second person said: “How dare she come with that talk to you.
“It’s not her business anyway, you are a normal customer going to the shop. “
A third person added: “Whether I had £1 or £1k, I’d still go to Poundland.”
