MORE than 130,000 angry drivers are begging Rachel Reeves to spare them a fuel duty hike in the Budget.
Campaigners marched on Downing Street earlier today to deliver a petition demanding she drop plans to increase fuel costs.
Senior Tories knock on the door of No10 Downing Street to deliver their petition[/caption]
The group is demanding Rachel Reeves cut or at least freeze fuel duty in the Budget next week[/caption]
Senior Tory MPs, led by Saqib Bhatti, handed over the 131,000 signatures a week before the Budget.
Mr Bhatti told The Sun: “The Conservatives proved we were on the side of families and businesses by keeping costs at the pump down for fourteen consecutive years.
“Next week, it will be Labour’s big first test to show they will be on their side too.”
Our relentless “Keep It Down” campaign alongside FairFuelUK has forced ministers to keep fuel duty frozen for more than a decade.
But fears are mounting the Chancellor could increase it by as much as 7p next week to help fill a £40bn black hole in the country’s finances.
Parliament‘s first “bionic Lord” Craig Mackinlay also joined the group to deliver the petition and urge Ms Reeves to “keep it down”.
The former Tory MP, who last week became the first quadruple amputee to sit in the House of Lords, said: “A hike would hit people very much in their pockets… and it would hit the most vulnerable.
“I am a disabled person, I like to call myself temporarily incapacitated. But if you’re disabled, seriously disabled, you can’t go out and find extra work to pay this tax.
“You have to take it out of the minimal income that you currently have, so it hits the poorest and the most vulnerable the hardest.”
Howard Cox from FairFuelUK added: “Rachel Reeves should recognise that freezing fuel duty is still the best thing for the economy.
“Putting it up could cause an amazing problem for small businesses, sole traders…
“I’m afraid fuel duty does hit the working person.”
Reform UK‘s five MPs, including party leader Nigel Farage, are also backing our campaign and wrote to the Chancellor to demand a fuel duty cut.
Last week The Sun reported on how more than 70 Tory MPs had written to Ms Reeves urging her to freeze rates and keep the 5p cut.

In one, Molly and Bambi smiled for the camera while cosying up together, as Bambi clutched onto her iPad.
A makeup free Molly captioned it: “Cheeeeeese.”
Then, in a second photo, the Love Island star could be seen chilling next to baby Bambi as they both slept.
Bambi looked adorable snuggled up in her blanket next to her famous mum, but Molly told fans that all was not as it seemed.
“Don’t be fooled… this last 20 minutes,” the influencer penned.
One in Dubai, Molly was straight into her swim wear and she snapped a photo in a window as she posed in a black bikini.
Molly showed off her impressive physique as she gazed into her phone with large shades on and her hair swept back.
In another photo, the 25-year-old posted a look at her lunch, consisting of a pepperoni pizza, chips and chicken, spag bol and meatballs and some salmon.
Molly’s trip comes after it was revealed that the star has been secretly filming a new TV project amid a series of huge life changes.
The star has now sparked a bidding war with two massive streamers who are desperate to air her show, which will follow her life amid her split from Tommy as she launches a new fashion brand.
Molly is working alongside award winning production company Navvybee and renowned producer Demi Doyle.
In an awkward exchange with presenter Ben Shepard, the boxer was pelted with questions about his split with his fiancée.
Pointing out that his relationship with the Maebe founder had been very public, Ben said: “It has been built around social media, the brand is your social media, so of course anything that goes wrong is going to be played out on social media.
“How do you deal with those critics because Molly-Mae put a statement out about the relationship, about the fact the relationship had ended, and (they) immediately jumped to the conclusion that you had done something wrong?”
Tommy replied: “Yeah, no of course. I mean there have been a lot of critics out there and there will be critics out there until the day I die.
“Everyone will jump on the bandwagon when there’s a bandwagon to jump on.
“But at the end of the day, you know, out of respect for Molly and out of respect for myself and our relationship, I’m going to let us deal with that in private as much as we can.
“I’m just happy to be here today to talk about me book, and I want to leave all that stuff to me and Molly. We owe the respect to ourselves to do that.”

NS&I has announced that it will slash Premium Bonds prizes from December[/caption]
The Treasury-backed savings provider has revealed that prize fund rates will be reduced to 4.15% from 4.40% currently – weakening the chances of you winning big.
NS&I, which is backed by the Treasury, has a duty to balance the needs of savers, taxpayers and the wider financial market.
Andrew Westhead, NS&I retail director, said: “As the savings market continues to change, we need to lower the rates on some of our products to help us meet our net financing target, while also ensuring we continue to balance the interests of our savers, taxpayers and the broader financial services sector.
“Even with the changes, we’re still expecting to pay out over 5.7million prizes worth over £435million in the December Premium Bonds draw.”
Not only that but for the first time since November 2020, NS&I will cut interest rates for Direct Saver and Income Bonds.
From November 20, the variable interest rate for Direct Saver and Income Bonds will change to 3.75% AER (annual equivalent rate), from 4% at the moment.
A new two-year issue of British Savings Bonds has also gone on sale offering 4.10% AER for the Guaranteed Growth Bond option and 4.09% AER for the Guaranteed Income option, both down from previously offered rates of 4.25%.
What do the experts say?
Finance experts at AJ Bell revealed that most Premium Bond holders will never win a prize.
Recent figures from an FOI obtained by AJ Bell showing two-thirds of those holding the bonds have never won.
Laura Suter, director of personal finance at AJ Bell, said: “Premium Bonds will see their ‘effective prize rate’ drop to 4.15% and their odds reduced to 22,000 to 1 from the December draw, something which may prompt some of the around 22.5million bond holders to reconsider their position.
“The prize rate only accounts for the average rate paid out on prizes, but in reality there is no guarantee of receiving any return as many bond holders will never win a prize, particularly those with smaller amounts of cash saved in the bonds.”
When you factor in that many people will have been holding Premium Bonds for decades, perhaps receiving them as gifts when they were young, that means they may have missed out on significant returns in a higher paying cash account or by investing.”
She also said the change is a sign that the savings market is preparing for more interest rate cuts from the Bank of England.
She said: “Despite the interest rate cuts, these accounts are still likely to continue to be very popular as they are backed by NS&I and many savers have huge brand loyalty to the organisation.
“But with another interest rate cut now expected at the next Bank of England monetary policy meeting in November, as well as potentially a further cut in December, savers should remain alert to the changes in the savings market and explore the best rates where they can.”
Sarah Coles, head of personal finance, Hargreaves Lansdown, agree that the news reflects the market and that the Premium Bond prize rate has “finally been hit with the business end of the savings rate scythe”.
She explained: “This was always going to happen eventually. NS&I has a duty not to overpay for the money it raises for the Treasury, which means the prize rate needs to be middle of the pack within the easy access savings market.
“After the Bank of England rate cut, these have been heading downhill, albeit impressively slowly. Moneyfacts figures show the average easy access account is currently offering 3.04% – compared to 3.13% two months ago, and Premium Bonds have finally succumbed.”
Ms Coles did point out that the prize rate doesn’t reflect what you’ll make in these bonds, and because of the “lumpy” way that prizes are awarded, the average person with £1,000 in bonds will still win nothing in the average month.
“The lengthening of the odds of a win should be food for thought for anyone who is holding money in these accounts and losing money after inflation,” she added.
Referring to the rate reductions on the new launch of British Savings Bonds, Ms Coles added: “You can do far better elsewhere, with the best on the market offering 4.6%.
“And while the Treasury guarantee of your savings and the attraction of the brand will go a long way, for plenty of people it’s not going to make up enough ground. These bonds look unlikely to shake or stir anyone.”
Where to find the best savings rates
Many savings accounts offer miserly rates meaning that money is generating little or no return.
However, there are ways to get your cash working hard. Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to make sure you money is getting the best interest rate.
Easy access savings accounts offer flexibility for customers, meaning they can dip in and out of cash when needed. However, the caveat is that rates can change at any time.
If you’re keeping your money in an easy access account, you’ll need to keep checking whether it’s the best paying account for your circumstances and move if not.
Check in at least once a month to see what is happening in the market.
Check what is offered by your bank – sometimes the best rates are for customers only.
But do search the wider market as often top savings accounts are offered by lesser known providers.
Comparison sites are a good place to check for the top rates. Try Moneyfactscompare.co.uk or Moneysupermarket.
You can search by different account type. You’ll usually get a better interest rate if you can lock your money away for a fixed amount of time, but it’s always a good idea to keep some money in an easy access account in case of emergencies.
Don’t overlook regular savings accounts often pay some of the best rates, but you’ll need to commit to monthly payments. This can be a great way to get into a savings habit while earning top rates at the same time.
What are Premium Bonds?
Premium Bonds are a type of savings account that don’t offer interest payments like conventional accounts.
Instead, you’re given the chance to win a prize worth up to a whopping £1million every month.
Premium Bonds can be bought from the government-backed National Savings and Investments (NS&I) which also offers a variety of other savings products too.
Because Premium Bonds are government-backed, your money is safe and there’s no risk of losing your cash.
You can put money in and take it out whenever you want but need to put in a minimum of £25 to get started and you can invest up to £50,000.
Each £1 you put in Premium Bonds is an entry into the monthly prize draw.
What are the Premium Bond prizes?
The draw is held each month and the winning number is picked by a computer called ERNIE (which stands for electronic random indicator equipment).
There are three kinds of prizes:
Higher value prizes of £5,000, £10,000, £25,000, £50,000, £100,000 and £1million
Medium value prizes of £500 and £1,000
Lower value prizes of £25, £50 and £100
How likely am I to be a winner?
The chance of winning a prize with an individual bond right now is 21,000 to one.
Each bond has an equal chance of winning and the more you buy, the more your chances improve.
You can check your odds depending on how many bonds you have and how long you’ll keep them using MoneySavingExpert.com’s helpful calculator.
This makes it easier to see if Premium Bonds are right for you, or if you’d be better off with another savings account.
It’s also worth noting that Premium Bond winnings are tax-free.
Anyone who has used up their annual ISA limit or personal savings allowance could benefit by saving into Premium Bonds.
How do I check if I have won?
You can use the NS&I Premium Bond prize checker online to see if your numbers have come up.
You’ll need to know the numbers of your Premium Bonds which you can find on your Bond record or online account.
If you’ve lost track of your numbers you can reach out to NS&I and ask for them.
There’s also an official app for iPhones and for Androids for checking prizes too, and even an App for Amazon Echo which means you can just ask Alexa.
For this, you will need to use your NS&I number rather than each Premium Bond number.
It’s 11 digits long and should be on any communication you’ve had with NS&I.
You don’t always need to check your numbers as you can get prizes under £5,000 paid straight into your bank account, or automatically buy more Premium Bonds.
For higher value prizes worth more than £5,000 NS&I will contact you by post and if you scoop the £1million jackpot, someone will pay you a visit to let you know!
Note that NS&I will no longer send out prize cheques in the post.
Before you sign up, it’s important to check how it compares to the rest of the market to make sure you get a good deal.

2 weeks agoNewsComments Off on My partner constantly talks about her ex and it worries me
DEAR DEIDRE: THERE isn’t a week that goes by without my partner mentioning her ex, even though they’ve been apart for over a decade.
I feel as though I’m so much more invested in our relationship than she is.
I’m 42 and my partner’s 39. We have been together for two years. She has kept all the numerous posts and pictures of her ex on social media, while there is only one of us together.
She continues to own a house with him even though he moved away years ago.
She has done nothing to sell the house. She still argues with him in exactly the same way as she’s always done.
She half-heartedly blocked him on WhatsApp but they still contact each other on social media.
He and his family constantly come up in our conversations. She has been telling me for weeks that she doesn’t have any money.
I’ve helped her out and had no issue paying for things. It then transpired that she had a few thousand pounds she could draw upon at any time.
I’ve asked her to be open and transparent with me, so I actually feel as though I’m a part of her daily life and not just a weekend boyfriend but it never happens.
If I ask her what she’s been doing she becomes defensive and accuses me of being controlling.
DEIDRE SAYS: Your feelings are understandable. They share history, but she’s giving him the time and attention she should be giving to your relationship.
Tell her how you feel and ask her to reassure you. Perhaps you can also ask if she could spend less time talking to her ex, and more with you.
My support pack, Standing Up For Yourself, may help you to chat to her without making her defensive.
A caring partner will acknowledge your concerns and try to work with you to set boundaries with her ex.

2 weeks agoNewsComments Off on How can I be sure my new partner won’t cheat like the last two?
DEAR DEIDRE: THEY say ‘third time lucky’ but after my last two partners had sex behind my back, how can I be sure my new love won’t cheat?
Afterall my wife cheated while I underwent cancer treatment and then the nurse, who I got together with after my marriage broke down, got pregnant by someone else.
I’m a disaster.
I am 53 and my current partner is 51. We have been together for two years but I’m convinced history will repeat itself after she admitted she had cheated on her husband with someone she worked with.
Her explanation was her ex was emotionally abusive and she was miserable.
She has assured me that I don’t need to worry because she knows what she wants. She said she would talk to me if she has any issues and so far we do seem to communicate well.
My wife never let me know what she was thinking and wasn’t supportive at all.
So when I underwent chemo and radiotherapy, there was always an empty space by my side. She simply didn’t turn up.
I discovered she was sleeping with another man when she racked up a huge phone bill.
We divorced soon after and I quickly met someone new – one of the nurses who had cared for me during my cancer treatment.
Our relationship developed fast – too fast. The warning signs were there but looking back I ignored them until she became pregnant.
I knew she had cheated as my cancer treatment affected my fertility.
I moved on with my life as best I could, vowing to stay single.
However I met my current partner a couple of months later through a mutual friend. We got on so well and exchanged numbers.
Part of me is saying let go and enjoy being with her, but the other part of me is saying run.
I love her and her two sons. Everything has been so easy going with her.
DEIDRE SAYS: It is not easy when someone has had previous unhappy experiences. Betrayal can shatter your trust, and it’s incredibly hard to regain that.
The fear of being hurt is a self-defence mechanism telling us that it might happen again.
But you risk driving a wedge between you and your partner and pushing her away.
Counselling could help you to move on. My support pack How Counselling Works explains more about it and how it works.

A MYSTERY pro athlete had to step in and stop a drunk Sean “Diddy” Combs from allegedly sexually assaulting a businessman at a party, claims a fresh lawsuit.

Pictures included in the lawsuit – where certain people were blacked out – show Diddy at an event believed to be the same one where the altercation took place in 2022[/caption]
Diddy was hosting a Ciroc launch party according to the claim[/caption]
The alleged victim – identified only as John Doe – claims Combs stripped off to his pants and exposed himself in front of the luxury car salesman in the rapper’s private office, claim court papers.
Combs was believed to have been hosting a star studded event celebrating the launch of his Ciroc vodka brand.
The jailed 54-year-old allegedly took the man into his office alone before grabbing at his genitals, the lawsuit claims.
The man was left “shocked, disoriented and frozen momentarily” by Comb’s inappropriate advance, the papers revealed.
Court documents say Combs only stopped the alleged attack after a sports star intervened after entering the office.
The businessman is then said to have fled the room and immediately left the party, according to the papers.
The businessman is said to run a Los Angeles-based company that rents out luxury cars and jewelry.
He says he only went to Combs’ party because the mogul had been a customer of his for years.
Combs allegedly made it clear that “high-profile guests in the music and entertainment business” would be there as well.
The alleged victim said in the suit that he managed to snap a photo of Combs sitting on a couch with “other high profile individuals”.
This image was included in the court files.
The Sun has reached out to Combs’ representatives for comment.
This is the latest in a string of allegations against Combs in recent months since he was arrested.
Over 100 civil claims have been brought against him while he also faces criminal charges for sex trafficking and racketeering.
Combs has denied all of the allegations against him.
On Sunday, he was hit with seven new abuse allegations made by four men and three women.
One claims Combs laced the baby oil used at his ‘Freak Off‘ parties with a date rape drug.
A lawsuit claims that Combs was known for dosing his guests with the date-rape drug GHB, mixing it in drinks and body oils, the New York Daily News reported.
The pair were at a Manhattan hotel penthouse in 2022 when Combs told him that “he could make him a star”, say court files.
Over 100 civil claims have been brought against Diddy[/caption]
A court sketch of Diddy as he faces criminal charges for sex trafficking and racketeering[/caption]
The complainant alleged that Combs drugged him with a drink he handed him when he arrived.
Combs is then accused of grabbing the underage boy’s hand and forcing him to lay down in a bedroom full of several other people, according to the court docs.
He then allegedly molested the teen’s genitals “for an extended period of time” trying to get him aroused.
The former Bad Boys Record producer has reportedly now demanded to know the names of his alleged victims.
BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest on Monday night, it had been highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.
His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”
The development also came after Diddy was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.
Aside from the Tupac probe, Diddy was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.
Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Diddy’s mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.
In addition to his federal criminal charges, Diddy also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.
Music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Diddy forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.
Diddy has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.
He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.
Diddy has also been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at a VMAs afterparty in 2000[/caption]

DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband is so tight with money that he makes Scrooge look generous.
I am a 38-year-old mother of two. My husband is 41. I am the main earner and pay the mortgage, buy all the kids’ clothes and pay everything for them.
My husband is a good dad and gets the children to school each day and is there for them in the evenings too.
He is known to be extremely stingy and is always squirrelling money away. His older brother told me it is because they were poor growing up, but nobody else in his family is like this.
I am at my wits end and feel as though I’d be better off alone.
He does buy some food and thinks this is enough. Am I being unreasonable expecting him to contribute more to the household?
I sometimes feel he is taking me for a mug.
He loses his temper and shouts when I try to talk to him about it. What can I do?
DEIDRE SAYS: It does sound very one-sided. In a quiet moment talk to him and explain how this makes you feel. It is only fair he pays his fair share.

She stopped to admire the kitten and held it up to her cheek for a kiss.
Katie matched her outfit to her pink and black pram, which also held another larger Sphynx and two dogs..
Charity PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has also insisted there needs to be an injunction stopping the mum-of-five from owning pets.
Katie’s cat walk comes after she took another barbed swipe at her ex-husband Peter Andre on The Louis Theroux podcast.
The mum-of-five reignited the drama with her ex-husband Peter, claiming he was “jealous” during their relationship.
Katie, who was married to the Mysterious Girl singer from 2005 to 2009, says his jealousy played a massive part in their split.
She revealed that while their relationship looked perfect from the outside, especially on their reality shows, Peter couldn’t handle the attention she received from men.
She added that she was pair more and they had “separate contracts” when they worked together.
She said: “I was worth more than Pete, I was always paid more than him when we did OK shoots.
She continued: “He’d just come out of the jungle.
“Who was he? He’d just met me and I was his lucky day”.
