COOLMORE splash £5.1 million on retired Ramatuelle days after she was dramatically kicked out of the Breeders’ Cup
COOLMORE splashed a whopping £5.1 million on Ramatuelle days after she was dramatically booted out of the Breeders’ Cup Mile.
The filly was second-favourite for the $2million race in Del Mar until a PET scan on Friday revealed there were signs of bone remodelling.
Ramatuelle will join the top quality ranks of Coolmore’s broodmares[/caption]French trainer Christopher Head decided against running her despite the fact she would have been his first-ever Breeders’ Cup runner.
Instead, it was announced she would head to the Fasig-Tipton November sale in Lexington, Kentucky, where she fetched the huge price tag on Monday evening.
The three-year-old has some impressive form and was last seen winning the Group 1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp three lengths ahead of Kinross.

She also put in a huge performance in the 1,000 Guineas, being beaten into third but finishing only half a length behind the winner Elmalka.
John Magnier said: “She’s a lovely filly, and in fairness to Christopher Head, he’s done an incredible job with her.
“Arthur Hoyeau, in fairness, spotted her as a yearling, and everybody else didn’t really. She’s a very good filly, and well done to them.”
Neal Clarke of Bedouin Bloodstock said: “I thought the sale was great, we’re very happy, obviously the owners are very happy.
“She’s a beautiful filly, she came in just the last 24 hours. She’s been a complete angel and a princess, never put a foot wrong the whole time she was here.
“She was very popular all day. She has the kind of speed that I think they’re looking for. She was a catch, there’s no doubt about it. It’s been a great sale for us, we’re tickled with it.”
Ramatuelle will head straight into retirement following her stellar season, where she will be joined by fellow Coolmore filly Opera Singer.
Aidan O’Brien’s Nassau Stakes winner was placed in the Coronation Stakes and the Irish 1,000 Guineas before going on to clinch the big one at Goodwood.
She was last seen finishing fifth behind Bluestocking in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp.
Magnier said: “We had to retire Opera Singer as well, so I think what we will do is send the two of them to Wootton Bassett next year.
“That’s what the guys want to do at the moment anyway, so I would say that is most likely what will happen.”

Phil Taylor, 64, reveals plans for future with new job after retiring from darts
DARTS legend Phil Tylor revealed he would like to do match commentary after retirement.
Taylor, 64, is pencilled down as a commentator ahead of the World Seniors Darts Masters, which kick off on Friday and end on Saturday in Sunderland.
And the Power is very much looking forward to his new gig at the esteemed tournament.
So much so that the experienced thrower would be open to commentating on a regular basis after stepping away from the oche.
However, the Stone-on-Trent native would like to avoid being away from home “week in week out” like he used to be as a player.
Taylor said: “Some of the older players are coming to retirement age now and I think you’ll see an influx of a few more household names which will help the Seniors.
“I’m looking forward to it [commentating], depending on what games they give me!
“If they want younger people [in the future] that’s fine. I’m not too worried about it.
“But I wouldn’t want to be away from home week in week out like I used to be.
“With my experience I can sometimes tell what pressure they’re under and what they’re thinking at that particular time.

“Sometimes you can just tell they’re not going to hit the double.”
Taylor was originally supposed to play in the Seniors but had to pull out because of an injury.
And now the experienced thrower is focused on calling the action during this weekend’s competition.
Taylor added: “It’s great that darts is coming back to the North East. I love the North East. I’ve got some good friends up there and have family that live in Newcastle.
“The fans always turn out in their droves in the North East and they enjoy themselves and make it a good atmosphere.
“I just hope the players perform well enough for the people who are paying to watch!”
Porsche recalls 200 cars including iconic 911 after ‘manufacturing defect’ which could cause WHEELS to fall off
PORSCHE has recalled 200 cars after discovering a “manufacturing defect” that could cause the wheels to fall off while driving.
The firm has issued a notice on three of its most popular models, including the iconic 911.
Porsche has recalled almost 200 cars from 2023-24[/caption] A ‘manufacturing defect’ could result in a loose wheel nut and even the wheels falling off at speed[/caption]Owners of the 992-generation 911, as well as certain 718 and Panameras have been urged to “stop driving immediately”.
Porsche revealed in the recall notice that it had detected a fault with some of these models which can result in the central locking nuts on the wheels being “defective”.
As a result, the nut can be prone to breaking and failing to secure the wheel to the frame of the car.
This means that the rotation of the wheel could cause it to come loose while in motion, especially at higher speeds.
The notice added: “Loosening of the wheel can result in a loss of the wheel and a loss of control over the vehicle.
“This can increase the risk of accidents, damage, injury or death to vehicle occupants and road users.”
It went on: “For safety reasons, Porsche urgently requests owners to stop using the vehicle until the remedial measure has been implemented.
A total of 199 cars are affected, with all of them manufactured between 2023 and 2024 and sold in Australia.
This includes the 911 GTS, 911 GT3 (including the RS version), Cayman GT$ RS, Boxster Spyder RS and Panamera GTS.
You can check whether your vehicle is among those impacted on the Vehicle Recalls service website.
Affected drivers can contact their nearest Porsche dealership to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.
All repairs will be carried out free of charge.
You can locate your nearest dealership on Porsche’s website, using the tab called “dealer search”.
It comes after horrifying pictures revealed the shredded wreck of a Tesla Cybertruck after a huge crash – but all four passengers miraculously survived.
All affected models were sold in Australia[/caption]
