GMB host confirmed to present special ITV spin-off after announcing break from the morning show

GOOD Morning Britain’s Martin Lewis has confirmed he’ll be hosting a new TV special for ITV later this month after announcing his break from the breakfast show.

Martin is returning to screens with an exciting TV special, plus another series of The Money Show.

A new series of The Money Show is also on the way[/caption]

Martin’s Money Show specials often focus on a particular theme, such as how to make your money go further at Christmas

His latest upcoming special will be dedicated to helping viewers learn to budget their money better.

The one-off Budget Special is set to air on ITV on Thursday October 31.

A new series of The Money Show with Martin Lewis will also begin airing two days earlier on Tuesday 29 October.

Martin has hosted The Money Show since 2012, along with several special instalments over the years, several of which have been live, including 2022’s Energy and Cost of Living Special and the Emergency Mortgage Special last year.

The news of Martin’s TV return comes after his wife Lara Lewington’s BBC technology series Click was axed after 15 years.

She is now joining her husband over at ITV, albeit on a different show as she takes on a new role as the technology expert on Lorraine.

Meanwhile, Martin will be scaling down his work for ITV and focusing solely on The Money Show for the rest of the year, having announced that he is temporarily stepping down from presenting on GMB until 2025.

Last week he wrote on X: “Thanks for the hugely positive feedback about @GMB today (from most anyway) and ta to the show for having me.

“That’s my last presenting shift til next year, as I choose not to do it while.

“@itvMLshow is on (it’s back later this month) so I can focus my TV energies on that (tho I’m sure I’ll pop on for the odd cameo guest slot!)”

His break comes after his interview with MP Lisa Nandy got very heated.

Martin pressed Ms Nandy on the government’s failure to reach those most in need, describing the policy as a “huge flaw.”

Current presenters:

  • Susanna Reid (presenters Monday to Wednesday and alternate Thursdays) – 2014 to present
  • Kate Garraway (presenters alternate Thursdays and Fridays) – 2014 to present
  • Ed Balls (presents on a rotating basis) – 2022 to present
  • Adil Ray (presents on Fridays) – 2024 to present
  • Robert Rinder (presents on a rotating basis) – 2024 to present

Former presenters:

But his followers thanked him for holding the government to account and said his passionate final episode was a good way to bow out.

Commenting on his X post, one follower said: “Good way to end it on a high note.”

While another wrote: “Thank you. No-one else could do what you do, with such warmth, humour & straight-talking.”

My brothers play for Man Utd and are pals with Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo Jr – I’m making my own way in MMA

THE IBRAGIMOV brothers look destined to light up the Old Trafford pitch in the years to come – but oldest brother Ibragim wants to fight there.

Ibragimov is a 7-0 MMA star signed to the Professional Fighters League – but his brothers all play for Manchester United.

Amir, 16, Gazik, 15, and Muhammad, 12, are products of United’s youth team are touted for big futures.

Even Old Trafford icon Sir Alex Ferguson has given his endorsement to Amir, who has also scored for England at Under-16 level.

Big brother Ibragimov, 20, is backing Amir to break into the first team by next season – while he eyes a sensational fight at the Theatre of Dreams.

He said: “My brother’s been training with the first team as well. I reckon this year, maybe next year he’ll be in the first team.

“My two little brothers as well play for Man United so they’ll make it too. I believe in them. So we’re going to have a Manchester United team.

“And then maybe in the future we’ll bring PFL over to Old Trafford and make it a big show.”

Amir scored the winning goal for England’s U16 against Italy in April – with Sir Alex’s starlet set for big things.

Ibragimov said: “He’s doing well right now. He’s on a good stage now. He’s about to make it first team.

“He had a picture with Ferguson, it was at the start and then he scored the winning goal for the England team.

“So it’s a big opportunity for all of us.”

Neither Amir or Gazik are at threat of being starstruck by United’s superstar squad.

Gazik captained United’s U14s to trophies, played for England’s U15s and lined up alongside Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo’s sons.

And both Gazik and big brother Ibragimov remain in touch with Cristiano Jr – playing for Al-Nassr’s youth in Saudi Arabia.

Ibragimov said: “When Ronaldo came, my little brother played with Ronaldo’s son. My little brother Gazik played with Ronaldo’s son for the same team.

“They are still good friends. So the only thing we did was send a t-shirt over to his house so he signed it and brought it back.”

Ibragimov was also once a promising player, having had trials for Manchester rivals City before taking up a career in MMA.

He said: “I was actually playing football as well, I was at Sheffield, they gave me trials then when we moved to Manchester I was at City trials as well.

“I couldn’t make it. It was a bit too late for me to make it and my brothers are there. But I’m here.”

Ibragimov returns in Riyadh on Saturday against Nacho Campos with Francis Ngannou making his MMA return in the main-event against Renan Ferreira.

Janette – who presents It Takes Two – welcomed her first child with husband and fellow show pro Aljaž Škorjanec last year.

In her honest post, the host opened up about juggling being mum to little girl Lyra with her busy life.

She wrote: “It’s tough to balance parenthood and work, but we all do our absolute best.

“It’s getting harder and harder to leave Lyra at nursery as she’s getting older and more aware, and our bond is growing stronger. But I know it’s the best for both of us right now.

“I can get to work knowing she is safe, and she develops social skills and stronger immunity to viruses all while having fun and learning.”

Emotional Janette continued “She always cries when I leave her, but she is fine after a few minutes.

“It hurts so hard to see her upset and holding on so tight to mami.

“But I remind myself that she is learning from example, a loving mami who protects and cares for her, and also works hard to provide for her family, and make her dreams come true.”

Aljaž returned to Strictly this year after leaving the show in 2022.

It came after Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima both left the programme following serious allegations.

But The Sun revealed last month that not everybody was happy with his return after he allegedly left following an altercation with a female pro.

A source said: “Has the BBC learned nothing from the past ten months?

“Amid ongoing furore around the behaviour of its male pros, they actively recruited a dancer who left under a cloud. Aljaž was touted as an unproblematic, returning legend but that couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Harvey Higgins, 15, is Blackburn wonderkid compared to Jamie Vardy who has an astonishing 100m record

BLACKBURN fans are wondering whether Harvey Higgins is the latest in a line of academy products to make it all the way to the Premier League.

There are hopes the 15-year-old will follow in the footsteps of Adam Wharton and David Raya in starting their journeys to stardom at Ewood Park.

He has been compared to Jamie Vardy[/caption]

PLAYING STYLE

Speak to people connected to the kid and there are early comparisons in the style of play to Jamie Vardy, Leicester’s irrepressible centre forward who is still going strong at 37.

Higgins loves to chase a ball from over his shoulder and run on before unleashing his strength and finishing ability.

He has scored 12 goals in his last six games for Championship Rovers’ Under-16s. They include two against Manchester United, hat-tricks against Derby and Wolves and one in a game against Liverpool.

He has already trained with the Under-21s yet is still in his GCSE year at school.

Being powerfully built and 6ft 2in he does not share Vardy’s more waspish physique but instead resembles more a young Erling Haaland.

But even those close to this hot prospect say there is much work to be done before genuine comparisons can be made.

Nonetheless, he is making his presence felt at Ewood Park, and elsewhere.

a poster of a soccer player named harvey higgins

Higgins already has a commercial contract with sportswear giants Puma and is attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

RISE TO THE TOP

Harvey comes from a grounded family. He played for his school, district, and county team but that is being reduced now as his hopes of a professional career blossom.

Being so strongly built, he looks a lot older than his years. He previously trialled at Manchester United, Liverpool and Man City at Under-7s but is now a young jewel in Blackburn’s crown.

WHAT ARE THE EXPERTS SAYING?

There are some at Rovers who prefer to keep quiet about Higgins because he is still so young and very much a work in progress.

However, it is hard to keep stats like his goals under wraps and the fact that he has previously been clocked running the 100m in 11.01 seconds. Lightning for a young footballer.

NEXT 12 MONTHS

He is too young to loan so steady and accelerated progress through the youth ranks if all goes well and Higgins continues to meet the challenges being set for him at Rovers.

There is even hope that by the end of this season he may even be granted a first-team debut, even if just for a few minutes, to raise his head above the parapet and be seen by football at large.

Quality Street has made a big change to a popular Christmas chocolate box – but shoppers will love it.

QUALITY Street has made a big change to one of its chocolate pouches before Christmas.

Nestle, which makes the iconic sweets, has added a new chocolate to its Quality Street “Favourites Golden Selection” pouch.

a bag of quality street favourites golden selection candy
Quality Street has added a new flavour to its golden pouch

The bags feature some of customers’ favourite Quality Street sweets which come in a golden wrapper.

Before this year only the Toffee Finger and the Caramel Swirl were featured in the 283g bag.

But Quality Street has confirmed that now the Toffee Penny has been added.

Fans have been delighted by the news, with one writing commenting on X, formally Twitter, that it was “amazing”.

“It’s going to be a great Christmas,” said another.

“Toffee pennies have always been my favourites. Thank you!” said a third chocolate lover.

Shoppers can buy the Favourites Golden Selection pouches from a range of different supermarkets.

One of the cheapest on the market currently appears to be Asda, which is selling a 283g pouch for £3.50.

Nestle has been making Quality Street pouches for quite some time to offer customers an alternative to the traditional plastic they are served in.

They come in a range of different flavours including a creme selection and a pouch of just Strawberry Delights.

Nestle has made a number of changes to Quality Street ahead of Christmas 2024.

This includes launching entirely paper tubs.

The recyclable box is available to buy in around 60 Tesco stores as Nestle trials more sustainable packaging.

Fans were not impressed by the move with one stating it had taken the “sparkle and excitement out of Christmas”.

The introduction of the new paper tubs does not signal the immediate end of its plastic and metal tins.

Its 600g and 800g tubs are still available to buy at supermarkets and online.

Return of a classic

Nestle has also brought back a Quality Street fan-favourite for the second Christmas in a row.

The coffee creme flavour chocolate was last seen in Quality Street tubs over 20 years ago until the chocolatier reintroduced it last year.

Nestle has confirmed that the sweet treat will be available once again this Christmas.

However, fans won’t find the iconic flavour in the usual Quality Street tubs.

Instead, the coffee-flavour fondant wrapped in dark chocolate has joined the 11 other Quality Street sweets at pick-and-mix stations across selected John Lewis stores in the UK.

They are also available in a limited-edition cracker at Waitrose and John Lewis stores for £5.50.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Ore, who won Strictly in 2016, wrote: “Hi guys. Portia and I are said to announce that we separated earlier this year.

“We’re so grateful for all the love you’ve shared with us both over the years.

“And we want to thank you in advance for respecting our privacy as we navigated this difficult transition.

“We will be making no further comment. Be kind, always.”

Ore and Portia met and fell in love back in 2010 at Loughborough university, while studying.

He then proposed to her four years later, with the couple marrying the following year.

The couple got married at Penshurst Place in Kent in November 2015.

Speaking about their wedding day, Ore previously told The Mirror: “On my wedding day I cried from 11 in the morning until 2am that night.

“There’s a picture of me wailing, my best men there laughing and Portia absolutely cracking up next to me – I am the only one crying.”

In early 2018 Ore revealed Portia had given birth to a baby boy on January 9.

The couple named their son Roman.

The couple’s second child, daughter Genie, was born in 2021.

Strictly curse

The Newsfound presenter won Strictly alongside Joanne Clifton in 2016 and famously said the experience helped his married to Portia – and the Strictly course was not an issue.

He said: “For us, it brought us closer together but it’s not easy for some people. It’s a bubble. If people dear to you are not there, factions can occur.”

In another interview, he told The Sun: “The show is so 24/7 and I didn’t want Portia to feel like an outsider. The three of us went out for dinner and bowling together. I won.

“But Portia and Jo got on so brilliantly, I was the third wheel! If anything, the curse has stolen my wife because I feel left out when we all hang out together.

“I really couldn’t have been more fortunate than to get two brilliant blonde bombshells in my life.”

TV fame

Ore is well known for hosting Newsround as well as various other TV shows.

Since his glorious stint on Strictly he has appeared in the West End and made his debut in Grease.

He was most recently in Pretty Women, which has just finished touring the country.

Who is Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry?

MAYA Henry and Liam Payne announced their engagement in 2020, but endured a rocky on-off relationship until they split in 2022.

After falling from his hotel room’s third-floor balcony, the former One Direction singer has tragically passed away.

On October 17, 2024, the 31-year-old was in Buenos Aires for pal Niall Horan’s tour when he tragically fell.

He was staying at Hotel CasaSur in the neighbourhood of Palermo.

Here’s what we know about his ex Maya Henry, who has broken her silence following the tragic news.

Who is Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry?

Maya is a 23-year-old from America with 970K Instagram followers.

Her dad is multi-millionaire Thomas J. Henry, a top lawyer in charge of a personal injury law firm based in Texas.

Her mum, who is separated from her dad, is named Azteca, and she also has an older brother — Thomas Henry Jr.

Maya‘s £4million 15th birthday party included performances from Pitbull and Nick Jonas, and had a total of 400 guests.

How Maya and Liam met

The pair were first pictured together at a One Direction meet-and-greet when Maya was just 15.

Maya said they then met a couple of other times in Buffalo and Dallas.

It’s rumoured that it was her brother who put the two in touch in 2019.

Maya has said that she’s used to rubbing shoulders with celebs, and she’s often pictured with big names such as Justin Bieber.

Were they engaged?

In August 2020 it was reported that Liam and Maya had got “engaged”.

He is said to have proposed with a £3million diamond ring.

MailOnline reported that Liam popped the question with the huge rock.

I love all of the fans so much but please stop sending me these pictures of my fiancé wrapped around another woman

Maya HenryPeople

But in June 2021, he announced he had called off his engagement to the model.

He spoke about the split on Steven Barlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast.

Liam told the host: “I’ve just not been very good at relationships.

“And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.

“I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.”

Later in March 2022, Liam confirmed to PEOPLE that the two were still engaged and had come out of Covid “stronger.”

“She’s still my fiancée,” he said alongside Henry in March 2022. “We’re still here together, and we’re very, very happy at the moment. Probably the happiest we’ve been.”

Two months later on May 23, 2022, reports emerged that the former couple had once again broken off their engagement.

A representative for Liam later confirmed the split.

PEOPLE also reported that Henry commented on a fan-made post of Liam with another woman.

“I love all of the fans so much but please stop sending me these pictures of my fiancé wrapped around another woman. This is not me and it’s hard enough knowing this has happened without seeing it. Enough now.”

What’s Maya Henry’s job?

Maya has said that she’d like to be a human rights lawyer.

Her brother is a model, and she’s also starting out in the world of modelling.

Maya has a charity called Maya’s Corner, geared towards children, animals, education and poverty, which she founded in 2008.

She was in a YouTube reality show, Hangin With Los Henrys, which follows the planning of Maya’s big budget party.

What Maya said following break up and tragic news

Liam’s ex-fiancée has broken her silence after his sudden death.

A representative for Maya told DailyMail.com: “She is understandably in shock.”

Just two days before the heartbreaking incident, Maya instructed her legal team to send a cease and desist letter to the pop star accusing him of repeatedly contacting her and her loved ones.

In a statement to The Sun, a spokesperson said: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information.

“She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”

I’m an energy-saving whizz – the ‘ideal temperature’ your home must be to stop condensation, mould and damp this winter

WITH condensation appearing in more and more houses across the country, if you want to banish the wet stuff from your windows, fear not, we’ve got just what you need.

Experts have shared their top advice to tackle this damp dilemma – and it turns out there’s an ‘ideal temperature’ you must keep your home at to ensure condensation, mould and damp don’t take over this winter

If you want to ensure that your home is mould-free this winter, you’ve come to the right place[/caption]

And if condensation is building up on your windows and you’re looking for a super simple way to get rid of it for good, you’ll need to check your thermostat[/caption]

Ava Kelly has shared the sweet temperature spots for each room in your house[/caption]

Getty
Steve Cox advised opening windows for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening to allow enough fresh air to enter without allowing too much warm air to escape[/caption]

Steve Cox from SES Home Services explained: “Condensation is caused by cold temperatures outside reacting with the warm temperatures inside the home causing air moisture aka water droplets, to form.”

He stressed that this moist menace can cause serious harm to your home, as he added: “This can cause damp, mould and damage to the window sills, and cause wooden window sills and flooring to swell.

“Therefore, it is important to take preventative measures to ensure that condensation is kept to a minimum.”

Luckily for you, energy whizz Ava Kelly from Love Energy Savings has shared the sweet temperature spots for each room in your house.

She revealed: “To ventilate homes and prevent condensation and mould, the ideal temperature for living rooms is 20 degrees, 23 degrees for the bathroom and children’s rooms, and 16 degrees for the bedroom and kitchen.”

Plus, she shared a crucial tip that’ll keep your home cosy and mould-free, as she continued: “It’s also recommended that you never let the temperature of your home fall below 14 degrees.”

And with winter fast approaching and many of our purses feeling tighter than ever, it’s time to get savvy with your heating.

The experts stressed that it’s far more efficient to keep your home heated at a lower temperature for longer periods, rather than cranking up the heat in short bursts, which will also help prevent pesky condensation patches from forming.

Steve recommended that homeowners should maintain a “consistent temperature” throughout their homes.

He also warned that failing to heat and ventilate rooms that aren’t in regular use, particularly during winter months, could lead to dampness and mould issues.

Not only this, but Steve also suggested: “The best way to avoid condensation is to open the window trickle vents, this allows air moisture to move out of the building which lowers the chance of condensation occurring.”

Trickle vents are small openings fitted at the top of window frames, designed to let in a controlled amount of fresh air.

Cheap gadgets to help you stay warm

MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert shared six gadgets that can help you keep the heating off but stay warm.

Heating “the human not the home” means you warm yourself instead of turning on the heating and heating the whole house.

This can save money on your heating bill and means you don’t have to sit in the cold.

  • USB gloves – initial cost £10, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Heated insoles – initial cost £10, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • USB hand warmers – initial cost £15, cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Electric gilet – initial cost £50 (including battery pack), cost to run less than 1p an hour
  • Microwaveable wheat bag – initial cost £4, cost to run less than 1p per hours
  • Reusable hand warmers – initial cost £5 for a pair, cost to run less than 1p per hour

These nifty little features are key in combating condensation by allowing humid air to escape without letting all the heat out.

Steve then shared his top tip that could help keep your home drier and don’t worry, it won’t cost you a penny.

5 Money-saving tips for autumn/winter

1. Draught-proof your home

It takes time and money to heat up your home, so it’s important that you do as much as you can to keep in the warmth. Close your doors and windows, and fill any gaps with a draught excluder.

2. Dial down your thermostat

According to Energy UK, turning down your thermostat by just one degree Celsius could cut your heating bill by up to 10%, and save you around £85 per year. Plus, if you don’t have a thermostat, installing one could save up to £70 per year!

3. Move furniture around

Make sure not big, bulky furniture like sofas are blocking radiators.

4. Wash clothes on a lower temp and add an extra spin

Unless it’s bedding, towels or really dirty items, dial down the temperature to 20 or 30 degrees, and do a double spin to remove excess water.

5. Heat the person not the home

There’s not point heating up a room that no one is sitting in, so be mindful about which radiators are on.

He recommended: “Try opening them for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening to allow enough fresh air to enter without allowing too much warm air to escape.

“Ensure the windows are open as wide as possible as this allows the process to happen quicker, as a short intense blast of air is much better to ensure not too much heat is lost.”

But before you rush to let in some fresh air, Steve advised turning down the heating first, as he explained: “This will prevent warm air condensing in cooler rooms.”

Ava chimed in with another solution for stuffy spaces, as she recommended: “Automatic ones are best, as once your home reaches 60 percent humidity they will automatically switch on and prevent mould developing.”
