Android owners must swap hidden setting before letting anyone touch phone – never hand it over until you’ve made change

DON’T just hand your Android phone to friends, family, or colleagues without changing some key settings first.

It might seem harmless – but you don’t want to risk them trawling through your personal info.

You can access guest profiles by going into your phone’s settings[/caption]

Thankfully Google has built a special guest profile feature into Android.

It means that you can very quickly and easily toggle to a locked-down version of your phone that’s fine for other people to use.

Google explains: “A guest profile is for someone using your device for a short time.

“Like a user, the guest profile has its own space on the device, but it’s easier to delete this space when a guest is done with the device.”

Google says that the guest user won’t be able to access all of the info on your phone.

HOW TO SWITCH TO GUEST USER ON ANDROID

First open up your Quick Settings menu.

Typically that means simply swiping down from the top of your screen.

You may need to swipe down a second time to access the full roster of Quick Settings.

Then simply tap on the User icon and then choose Add Guest.

Once you’ve created a guest, you’ll be able to return to the profile again in the future.

When you want to create a profile for a new guest, choose Start Over.

Or you can tap Yes, Continue to keep using the previous guest session.

Once a guest session is done, just go back into Quick Settings, tap on User, then select Remove Guest > Remove.

This will delete all of the data from the guest that was using your phone.

Guest Profiles are available even on very old versions of Android[/caption]

HOW DO GUESTS WORK

Guests are like limited versions of regular Android user profiles.

So you can quickly set them up – and remove them just as easily.

They can sign into their own Google accounts, and use apps like Chrome or YouTube without logging in.

A guest won’t be able to see your personal or private info.

TRY A CHILD ACCOUNT TOO

You might not actually need a Guest User account – if you have a kid using an Android device then maybe a Child User is what you're looking for...

Here’s Google’s official guide:

You can create a Google Account for your child under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) and manage your child’s Google Account with Family Link.

With a supervised Google Account, your child gets access to Google products like Search, Chrome, and Gmail. You can set up parental controls to help supervise them.

It takes about 15 minutes to create your child’s Google Account.

  1. Go to the create your Google Account page.
  2. To create your child’s account, follow the on-screen instructions.
    • You’ll enter info like your child’s name, the email address they want, and their birthday.
  3. To provide parental consent for your child’s account, sign in with your own Google Account and choose your preferred way to give consent.

When you’ve made the account, you get a confirmation on the screen.

So it’s the perfect way to let someone use your phone to, say, watch YouTube or check their emails.

You don’t have to worry about them roaming around your phone – they can’t escape the guest profile and access the main account without knowing your passcode.

More than half of voters think National Insurance hike would be a ‘tax on working people’, exclusive poll reveals

MORE than half of voters believe an increase in employers paying more National Insurance would be a “tax on working people”, an exclusive poll reveals.

Fifty-seven per cent of people say  the government would by default be breaking a manifesto commitment by launching the cash raid.

Small business leaders are concerned over speculation over national insurance hikes for employers
PA

Small business leaders last night warned the government against the move saying it WILL  hurt working people.

It comes after the Prime Minister said in the run-up to the election that he wouldn’t raise national insurance, income tax or VAT.

But Sir Keir gave the clearest sign yet today that he will impose a new “Jobs Tax” on bosses at the Budget.

Speaking in Downing Street, he told the BBC:  “We were very clear in the manifesto that we wouldn’t be increasing tax on working people and we expressly said that that was income tax, that was NICs etc.”

“It wasn’t just the manifesto, we said it repeatedly in the campaign and we intend to keep the promises that we made in our manifesto.

“So I’m not going to reveal to you the details of the Budget, you know that that’s not possible at this stage.”

Chancellor Rachel Reeves all but confirmed she will raise national insurance payments for bosses in the Budget  while at an investment summit on Monday.

Craig Beaumont, of the Federation of Small Businesses, said:   “Hiking the jobs tax without looking after small employers would do the polar opposite – hitting working people’s jobs, pay & pensions, and increasing economic inactivity.”

Concerns was raised by 61 per cent of people who said if taxes go up on business then costs are passed on to “ordinary people” like them, the Portland Communications poll found.

Shadow Business Secretary Kevin Hollinrake said: “Opening the door to a Jobs Tax is sowing further uncertainty and chaos for businesses.

“It’s obvious to all that hiking employer National Insurance is a clear breach of Labour’s manifesto but, crucially, also a tax on jobs that will further hit confidence and damage economic growth.

“Not content with strangling businesses with red tape, Labour’s jobs tax would make it more expensive to hire people, driving up prices and slowing wages.

“Rachel Reeves was right when she first said this policy was anti-business. If they were as pro-business as they claimed, they would not pursue this damaging policy.”

FBI reveal major update on probe into Prince Andrew’s friendship with paedo billionaire Jeffrey Epstein

THE FBI’s investigation into Prince Andrew and his friendship with paedo Jeffrey Epstein has been “parked”.

US cops have paused their probe until “new evidence is presented that can move the case forward”.

A source close to the case told the Mirror: “The agents and attorneys who have, for years, worked diligently looking into Andrew’s friendship with Epstein are beyond frustrated.

“They’re angry that the probe has been parked.”

The source also said that no new evidence has been presented to the investigation for some time and so the case had stalled.

FBI agents are now spending their time investigating other alleged high-profile rapists like Sean “Diddy” Combs, Mirror sources went on to say.

Geoffrey Berman – the US attorney who indicted paedo Epstein – slammed Andrew in 2020 for providing “zero cooperation”.

THE decision comes after the Duke of York’s disgraced pal Ghislaine Maxwell had her appeal against sex trafficking convictions thrown out.

Four savvy ways to brighten up your garden during the colder months – from twinkling bulbs to fire-pits

THE weather can be grey and miserable at this time of year, so why not cheer up your outdoor space?

A few easy moves can quickly work wonders.

Four savvy ways to brighten up your garden during the colder months – from twinkling bulbs to fire-pits[/caption]

Here’s what to do . . .

LIGHT UP: Twinkling bulbs look pretty after dark or on gloomy days.

But you don’t have to save the fairy lights for Christmas.

If you have some sitting in storage, try getting them out and decorating bushes or trees. Or you can currently get 100 LED string lights for £11.99, down from £14.99 at Robert Dyas.

Solar lights can still work at this time of year and won’t add any extra to energy bills.

BERRY NICE: Attracting more wildlife is a great way to get more enjoyment from your outdoor space in colder months.

If you have a gap in the garden, try planting shrubs that produce berries, such as rowan, hawthorn and holly. Not only can this provide food for birds, it adds colour, too.

Bird feeders with seeds and nuts, and fresh, clean water will also help bring more feathered friends to your garden.

POT LUCK: Plant a few seasonal blooms in pots that can sit around your doorway and provide extra cheer. And you can easily switch up and refresh your display whenever you like.

Chrysanthemums and Calluna are two plants that provide excellent and long-lasting colour, as well as ornamental chilli peppers, advises Dobbies garden centres.

Lidl this week has different shades of British cyclamen, as well as autumn heather coming to stores, with prices starting from £1.99.

STAY WARM: If you want to spend more time in your outdoor space, you could create a fire-pit area.

Prices start from £15 at B&Q and this is a more affordable option than a patio heater.

Watch the flames crackle while roasting marshmallows for a seasonal treat.

Steam players can grab ‘thousands’ of free demos as Next Fest 2024 kicks off

STEAM’s Next Fest 2024 is now live, giving PC players a week to try ‘thousands’ of upcoming games for free.

There are free games to play across all genres, with plenty of indie titles that rarely get into the spotlight.

Delta Force reimagines a classic tactical shooter series, and the Next Fest demo will showcase its multiplayer modes[/caption]

Running from October 14 to 21, 2024, at 6pm UK time / 1pm ET, Steam Next Fest also features hundreds of developer livestreams, showcasing upcoming titles.

With so many demos to choose from, we figured we’d highlight some of the best demos from Steam Next Fest 2024.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector

Citizen Sleeper was one of the best indie games of 2022, and players can finally try a demo of its sequel.

Inspired by tabletop RPGs, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector continues the first game’s story set in a cyberpunk sci-fi world.

While keeping the base dice-based gameplay and well-written narrative of the original, the sequel deepens all existing mechanics and adds new abilities and a bigger world to explore.

Delta Force

The reboot of old-school shooter series Delta Force is also getting a demo at Next Fest, which, unlike previous playtests and betas, is available for everyone to try.

The new Delta Force reimagines the series as an operator tactical shooter with free-to-play multiplayer modes and a new paid Black Hawk Down single-player and co-op campaign.

The demo players can try this week shows off the game’s multiplayer modes.

For more on the game, check out our Delta Force preview from June.

Tavern Keeper

Tavern Keeper is a gorgeous business sim game where you manage your own tavern.

From building it and hiring staff, to decorating the interiors and stocking up on ingredients, the game lets you own the high-fantasy pub of your dreams.

The demo allows you to run a tavern for a few days and get familiar with a lot of the game’s systems and mechanics.

This teaser experience is designed specifically for the demo and will not be part of the full game when it launches sometime in 2025.

Permafrost

Permafrost is a brutal survival game that will put you and your friends in a harsh permanent winter environment.

Solo or in co-op mode for up to four players, the demo lets you learn the ropes of survival by introducing you to the game’s exploration, crafting, building, and hunting gameplay.

Windblown

Windblown is a new roguelite from the creators of Dead Cells that can be played alone or in three-player co-op mode.

Unlike Dead Cells’ pixel art sidescrolling levels, Windblown features gorgeous 3D levels from an isometric perspective, similar to Hades, another great roguelike.

The game promises lightning-fast action, and you will wield powerful weapons and absorb the memories of fallen warriors to unlock special abilities.

Windblown will launch into early access right after the demo period, on October 24, 2024.

My wife will only have sex with me if it’s a special occasion

DEAR DEIDRE: GETTING old needn’t be depressing, but I’d love to have sex with my wife again before I get too old and lose the ability.

My wife rarely allows me to have sex with her unless it is ‘a special occasion’. She’s 62 and I’m 64. We’ve been together a long time but my love for her has never changed.

We both keep fit. She’s never been with another man apart from me, to my knowledge.

She had a strict upbringing and was an only child.

I always want sex and I try to make her feel good but I can count on one hand the number of times she has initiated it. The answer is four –  when she wanted to get pregnant.

We have two grown-up kids.

I regard myself as a very attentive and talented lover who is always more interested in her pleasure than mine.

I’ve tried for over 30 years for something to spark her sexually but nothing has changed.  I love the bones of her but I’m so scared I will die a frustrated and unhappy man.

DEIDRE'S STORIES

Cooper isn't happy about his girlfriend going out

DEIDRE SAYS: My guess is that her upbringing has completely tarnished the way she thinks about sex. Sadly, she’s never felt liberated enough to fully understand how wonderful a good sex life can be.

Her parents may have been religious and felt that sex was only for procreation and that ‘good girls’ were never supposed to enjoy sex.

Sex may have been thought of as a taboo subject or dirty in some way. These moral principles are hard to shift.

It is unlikely she is going to change now but she may allow intimacy to resume in other ways – with massage and kissing and touch – if you talk to her about how much you love her and miss having this as part of your lives.

My support pack on Sex Therapy will show you where to find professional guidance to help.

Ryder Cup 2025 ticket prices revealed at nearly TRIPLE price of last year as golf fans fume ‘we need to boycott’

GOLF fans have threatened to “boycott” the Ryder Cup after prices were revealed for the 2025 tournament.

Team Europe will hope to defend their crown against the US at the Bethpage Black Golf Course in New York from September 26 to 28 next year.

With demand extremely high to watch the iconic event, supporters have to enter a “random selection” ballot for tickets and complete a registration by October 22.

If successful, they will then be presented with a chance to book their spot on the course at some point next month.

But fans have been left fuming after finding out the price of tickets they’re applying for.

The “random selection” ballot only includes “Ryder Cup+” seats.

A single ticket to any of the three days of action are priced at an eye-popping £574 ($750) each.

While the cost of a pass to the practice sessions earlier in the week will set you back between £195 ($255) and £324 ($423)

However, “Ryder Cup+” tickets do include “access to unlimited food and non-alcoholic beverages at all market concessions throughout the grounds and no extra cost”.

But despite the the added benefit of unlimited food and drink, golf fans are still seething with the astronomical prices and took to social media to react.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

One fan raged: “I would like to go on the record now and say that if Europe wins the Ryder Cup at Bethpage because the crowds were turned into a polite snooze fest by the insane ticket prices, it’s going to go down as a massive own goal.”

While another joked: “I need to sign a LIV deal so I can afford Ryder Cup tickets.”

Some fans weren’t taking such a lighthearted approach to the decision.

One even suggested that the event should be boycotted, writing: “We all need to unify and boycott this. Then we can move on to groceries and housing next”.

The 2023 Ryder Cup at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club near Rome offered fans a much more reasonable price for general admission.

The Italian event had tickets priced between £38 and £46 ($50 and $60) for practice days.

While weekend tickets were priced at £200 ($264) for the Friday and Saturday and £210 ($275) for the Sunday.

My hair fell out after finding husband’s porn stash – he was the main star

DEAR DEIDRE: THE shock of stumbling across my husband’s homemade blue films made the hair fall out of my head – literally.

We’ve been married for 23 years and I thought he was satisfied with our sex life. But judging from the contents of the secret folder I found – he has needed a lot more risk.

When the pandemic happened, my husband seemed to find it so difficult to be in the house with me 24/7.

We were arguing and he became distant. Next, he was sleeping in the spare room. I’d try to talk to him and he’d ignore me. Things went from bad to worse. I didn’t know what to do.

He went back to work and things improved. He owns three barber shops but I don’t work.

Large amounts of cash were disappearing from our bank account, but he always said it was to pay a contractor, or for a new work coffee machine.

He then upgraded his iPad and gave our 17-year-old daughter his old one.

Tasked with clearing out his old files, I opened a couple of private ones and was so shocked with what I found.

There were lots of explicit films and videos of women engaging in sex acts with him – most of them looked like they were in their early 20s – just a few years older than our daughter.

At that moment I realised they were sex workers and that’s where all his money had been going.

I’ve been sick with worry but he’s completely oblivious. He hasn’t even spotted the growing bald patches on my head. I’m not sleeping well and I’ve lost over two stones in six months.

My hair is now coming out in lumps when I shower. I think it’s stress. We are both 47.

I'm a married lesbian but after wild sex with first boyfriend I'm so confused

DEIDRE'S STORIES

Cooper isn't happy about his girlfriend going out

DEIDRE SAYS: Alopecia is often brought on by stress so it’s no coincidence that this has happened when you’re coming to terms with this huge change in your marriage.

You must find a moment to talk to your husband and tell him how unhappy you are – and what you found. You weren’t snooping on him but the evidence was there.

Ask why he’s looking elsewhere for attention and why he’s staying with you if he’s so unhappy.

If he insists that things are good, find a local counsellor through BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) (www.bacp.co.uk, 01455 883300) so that you can decide if there’s a marriage worth salvaging.

My support pack Hair Loss will help too.
