Dave Grohl reportedly believes his marriage to Jordyn Blum is ‘salvageable’ and is working to regain her trust after admitting he fathered a child with another woman.
The Foo Fighters frontman, 55, shocked fans last month after announcing in a bombshell Instagram post that he had cheated on his wife, 48, during their 21-year marriage and fathered a child out of wedlock.
‘I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,’ he wrote. ‘I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.’
Dave went on to say he loves his wife and their children, Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, and said he is ‘doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.’
He turned the comments off on the ‘last-ditch effort’ post, which sources claim was made after Jordyn gave him an ‘ultimatum’ after finding out about his lovechild ‘well before the world found out.’
Now, speaking to the Daily Mail an insider has given an update into the status of the couple’s relationship, stating the Everlong singer is trying to ‘divert his focus’ so that he can be there for his wife and support her for the ‘day-to-day things she wants’.
‘He thinks the marriage is salvageable so why not try to fix it?’ They said.
According to the source, Jordyn hasn’t felt like his ‘number one’ for a long time now: ‘She gave him an ultimatum to figure it out and he wants to regain her trust,’
‘He has to focus on her, that will be his best chance at getting back to what they had. Dave is focusing on her needs.’
The source continued to say that Dave openly told his wife about his affair and always had intentions to stay with her: ‘He would rather remain married,’ the source said.
Despite the insider’s claims, earlier this week the rocker was seen during a casual outing in Encino, California without his wedding ring.
Dave wore a black t-shirt with an illustration of a moth on it, khaki shorts, and a cap with his hair tied back. He looked glum as he ran errands around the neighborhood.
It comes amid news that the Foo Fighters are considering an indefinite hiatus as their frontman works to earn his family’s trust back.
It was devastating news for fans who were already upset after the band cancelled their appearance at Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut, US, days before they were due to perform.
‘The band need time to be with their families and focus on regrouping,’ a source told The Sun.
‘It’s been a turbulent few years, with the loss of their best friend, drummer Taylor Hawkins, the death of Dave’s mum and now the birth of his new child.
‘He wants to be at home and focus on earning back the trust of his family.’
Jordyn is Dave’s second wife, as he was previously married to photographer Jennifer Leigh Youngblood from 1994 until 1997.
Dave later admitted to being unfaithful to her, which led to the demise of their relationship.
