Kaizer Chiefs flops Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat have returned to South Africa for different reasons. What’s happening there?
Dolly training with Matsatsantsa after Kaizer Chiefs exit
According to SoccerLaduma, Keagan Dolly is training with SuperSport United where he was rumoured to have held talks at the start of the season. Kaizer Chiefs released Dolly at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign. Matsatsantsa boss Gavin Hunt opted to sign Vincent Pule from Pirates ahead of Dolly. The 31-year-old former Montpellier and Sundowns star made only eight appearances in his final season with Kaizer Chiefs. Unfortunately for the attacking midfielder, injuries were a constant theme in his three-and-a-half years at Naturena.
Billiat scores to steer Zimbabwe to a win over Namibia
Khama Billiat is excited to return to South Africa after stints with Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs. The Zimbabwe forward scored the winner for his country against Namibia at Orlando Stadium.
“I am excited about this opportunity and to be back in South Africa, where I spent the better part of my playing career,” Billiat said. “I am grateful to Prophet Walter Magaya, who gave me another chance at Yadah, where I’ve been able to rediscover myself and make my way back from international retirement.”
Cufa Cup action is coming soon
32-year-old striker Ranga Chivaviro battled in his debut campaign for Chiefs but things are looking a little rosier in 2024-2025. The former Gallants man, incredibly prolific for his old team, has scored in back-to-back Betway Premiership matches, recently against Sundowns. Ranga bagged an astonishing 17 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Gallants in the 2022-2023 campaign so the Limpopo-based side knows all about the threat he poses. Gallants and Chiefs meet in the friendly Cufa Cup on Sunday13 October.
Tau is leaving Egypt
According to SoccerLaduma, Percy Tau won’t stay at Al Ahly beyond the end of the current campaign. Egyptian outfit Cairo24 are reporting that the 30-year-old Bafana star won’t extend his contract which expires at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign. This, therefore, is his final season with the Caf Champions League holders. This is down to his advancing age and unsustainable wage demands.
Do you think Dolly still has the minerals to play in the Betway Premiership?
