A veteran star may be closer to finding a new home after being released by former club Kaizer Chiefs recently.
Chiefs released five players at the start of the transfer window, with just two of them finding a new club.
Chiefs released five early in the window then two more on loan
Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Sifiso Hlanti and Jasond Gonzalez were all allowed to leave after last season. Ngcobo has since signed on at Sekhukhune United, where he is set to play in the CAF Confederation Cup. Sithebe returned to his home province of KwaZulu-Natal to team up with the ambitious Richards Bay FC. Gonzalez has returned to his native and his parent club after his loan. The duo of Dolly and Hlanti are yet to secure new homes ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Both players are not thought to be short of options, however. Hlanti, for example, has attracted the interest of two Durban sides. According to Soccer-Laduma, the veteran left-back is the subject of interest from Golden Arrows.
“Yes, there is interest from Arrows and they are talking to his representatives about a possible move as soon as they can. You know they need to replace Bradley Cross (who signed for Chiefs) and they are looking at Hlanti’s experience to help them in that position and that’s why they are talking to him.” Said one source.
A second source says Arrows are pursuing Hlanti because they believe they’ve been short at left-back.
Arrows interested in Hlanti?
“They have looked at their performances in the two games they lost and they feel like they didn’t do well in defence and that is why they are looking at strengthening left back with an experienced defender and Sifiso (Hlanti) is the one they are looking at. The advantage is that he is a free agent and they can sign him any time. So, it’s not late for them,” said the second source.
Does Hlanti still have value for other PSL clubs after leaving Chiefs? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings below in the comments!
