COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A fast-casual Mediterranean eatery is now open near New Albany, taking over the storefront previously home to a bakery that closed earlier this year.
Med-Mix Grill is now welcoming customers at 6457 N. Hamilton Road after launching on Sept. 16, owner David Alzuraigat confirmed told NBC4. With past restaurant and convenience store experience, Alzuraigat said market trends motivated him to open a Chipotle-style restaurant with ingredients made in house.
“The style of serving food nowadays is different, people are more into fresh-served food options,” said Alzuraigat. “Chipotle being one of my favorite quick stops, I wanted to implement that with Mediterranean.”
Med-Mix is launching inside the former home of Fat Girl Bakery, a confectionary that was known for vibrant cakes, cookies and cupcakes. The bakeshop closed in March after it had relocated from its Lewis Center storefront in May of 2023.
Now, Alzuraigat is serving up a Mediterranean menu that includes build-your-own wraps, pitas, bowls and salads. Like how customers move down the line at Chipotle to make their selections, patrons visiting Med-Mix can pick their protein, like gyro meat or chicken shawarma, along with a number of sauces, spreads, vegetables and other toppings.
“It’s a fresh food service, we make everything from scratch,” said Alzuraigat. “We make all the spreads, sauces daily. We import our spices, to get the authentic Mediterranean taste.”
Med-Mix is open for delivery, pick-up and dine-in from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
