Five people were killed while five others sustained serious injuries following a high speed head-on collision on the R102 near Darnall in KwaZulu-Natal.
The accident happened on Saturday night, 5 October.
FIVE KILLED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION
According to emergency service IPSS Medical Rescue, on arrival, paramedics established that two vehicles had collided head-on at high speed.
“Reports from the scene indicate that one person sustained critical injuries and five others sustained injuries ranging from serious to moderate.
“Sadly, five people were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on scene.”
In a separate accident, a truck and light motor vehicle were also involved in a collision.
On arrival it was found that the light motor vehicle had been struck on the driver’s side, sending it down and embankment and into a palisade fence.
The truck driver and passenger of the light motor vehicle were lucky to escape with minor injuries, and were treated on scene by IPSS Medical Rescue. Sadly the driver of the light motor vehicle sustained fatal injuries, and was declared deceased on scene and was extricated from her vehicle.
