Former Kaizer Chiefs hat trick hero joins Persian Gulf Pro League, according to iDiski Times.
Ex-Chiefs striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana has officially joined Zob Ahan in the Persian Gulf Pro League. Since his departure from the Chiefs, the towering Burundi forward has faced significant challenges in his career. After signing with Libyan giants Al Ahli Benghazi, he unfortunately left the club without making a single appearance due to a season-ending injury suffered while on international duty.
After recovering from a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury, Bimenyimana now sets his sights on reigniting his club career in Iran. His determination to bounce back is evident as he takes this crucial step forward.
Impressive stats during his time at Kaizer Chiefs
During his time at Kaizer Chiefs, Bimenyimana showcased his talent, appearing in 21 matches—17 of which were starts—where he scored eight goals. He made an impact early on, netting his first goals for the Chiefs in a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory against SuperSport United.
Bimenyimana joined Amakhosi as a free agent in August 2022, after leaving Kaysar FC in Kazakhstan. He made history as the second player from Burundi to feature for Kaizer Chiefs, debuting in a 0-0 draw against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership on September 3, 2022. Notably, he etched his name into the club’s records by scoring a hat trick of penalties in a 3-1 win over Stellenbosch on October 9, 2022, becoming the first Chiefs player in the PSL era to achieve this feat.
Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final sold out
In other news, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final tie between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, November 2, is officially sold out.
The two teams previously met in the Betway Premiership earlier this season, where Sundowns secured a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners. As they prepare to renew their rivalry, Chiefs will seek to avenge their earlier defeat, while Sundowns aim for back-to-back wins against the Soweto giants.
Late Thursday, ticket sales exceeded 55,000, and by Friday morning, the PSL confirmed that an impressive 87,364 tickets, including hospitality options, had sold out.
