The photo has since gone viral and has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped online.

Little is known about when the photo was taken, but Mzansi was more than convinced that they boarded the same plane and seemingly in the same seat row.

The two were all smiles. Zungu captioned the viral photo, ‘So happy to meet the legend.’ During his illustrious stint that spanned years, Samuel Eto’o won over 15 individual accolades, including:

  • FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball 2010
  • Four-time African Player of the Year
  • Pichichi Trophy 2005/2006

FAILED WAYDAD ATHLETIC CLUB

On the other hand, others quickly put Bongani Zungu’s career into the mix. Since the Mamelodi Sundowns this year, Zungu hasn’t signed up for any club.

Rumour mill has it that his deal with Waydad Athletic Club is off the hook, and he is unlikely to join the club despite training with them for two weeks.

Reports have it that he has since left the club, where he was invited to train under coach Rulani Mokwena.

Mokwena, who made it known that his fitness was of concern, has opted against the gamble. Could the now-viral photo have been taken during his recent trip from Morocco?

CAREER

At 18, Bongani Zungu was already making headlines; the rest was history. Bongani Zungu started his youth career with Dynamos before making his senior debut with the University of Pretoria in 2012.

He joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2013 and left in 2016 for Vitoria Guimaraes. From Vitoria Guimaraes, he joined Amiens in 2017 before leaving in 2022 for Rangers on loan.

In the same year, he returned to Mamelodi Sundowns for a second stint. His return made him one of PSL’s highest-paid stars.

However, his second dance with Masandawana was not as picture-perfect as many had hoped. Injuries affected Bongani Zungu’s performance, keeping him out of the game for months.

He left the club in 2024 and has yet to find a new one. Some fans have made it known that he still has two seasons on the card, while others have urged him to consider retiring.

DOES ZUNGU HAS TWO MORE SEASONS ON THE CARDS?
