SuperSport United have finally ended their striker search. Former Kaizer Chiefs star Samir Nurkovic will wear the blue colours of the three-time Premier Soccer League champions.
SUPERSPORT UNITED TO ANNOUNCE SAMIR NURKOVIC
Following his shock exit from TS Galaxy, the 32-year-old Nurkovic has reached an agreement to join United, thanks to Bradley Grobelar’s long-term injury.
“SuperSport really wanted an experienced striker, and Samir was available, so they saw it fit to improve their offer as Hunt needs him,” a source told FARPost.
“With Grobler out, they desperately wanted a striker to replace him and Samir was that player as he has the experience in the PSL.
“Samir will sign for SuperSport in the next few days. The one-year contract, which has an option to extend by a further year, will expire in 2026.
“SuperSport are also working on registering Samir as a local as he now qualifies to be a naturalised South African due to the fact that he has been in the country for five years. It looks like SuperSport wants to make more room for foreign spots ahead of the January transfer window,” the source concluded.
KAIZER CHIEFS: NASREDDINE NABI WANTED TO SIGN RANGA CHIVAVIRO
Amakhosi striker Ranga Chivaviro was one of the best strikers in South Africa and the continent. Nasreddine Nabi wanted his signature.
With 18 goals for his former club, Marumo Gallants, in the Betway Premiership and CAF Confederation Cup, Nabi, then the head coach of Young Africans, wanted to sign Chivaviro, but the 31-year-old from Ga-Kgapane, Limpopo, moved to Kaizer Chiefs instead.
“Ranga… you know, it’s true [I tried to sign him] at that moment I had Fiston Mayele, and I knew he was going to leave and we looked [for strikers] and in CAF, we played Marumo Gallants, he had two very good games,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach said via iDiski Times.
“I think for that [performances] Kaizer Chiefs signed him, because his agent talked and said no, no, go to [Chiefs] not Tanzania.
“Yes, I know there’s progress, but Ranga needs to work more, more confidence, specific work in the finishing. I think he’s made progress but he needs another striker with him, because if there’s two you progress more,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician added.
