CHRIS BROWN ANNOUNCES JOHANNESBURG CONCERT DETAILS
The multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and dancer first made headlines last week when he took to Instagram to reveal his scheduled tour to South Africa.
Against the news, Mzansi has been trying to connect the dots about his performance.
However, Chris Brown has since revealed that his concert is slated for 14 December in Johannesburg at the FNB Stadium.
The Ten Toes hitmaker posted on Instagram, “Breezy in Jo’burg. Johannesburg, SA December 14th, 2024. Tickets are on sale Thursday, Oct 3rd at 10 am [sic].”
A LOVE AFFAIR WITH SA
However, this will be arguably his fourth visit to South Africa. He was in the country in 2012 during the Carpe Diem world tour.
The muso visited South Africa before his X Tour. In April 2015, he performed live at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg and the Moses Mabhida People’s Park in Durban.
South Africa was also included on The Chris Brown Experience Tour in 2021. In addition to performing in South Africa, he has starred in one of SABC’s most-watched soapies, Generations.
Chris Brown was cast as himself in 2008, and his storyline was to encourage Ajax, played by Sipho ‘Psyfo’ Ngwenya after he was involved in a motorbike accident days before he was set to go on a musical tour.
However, during one of his visits, Andile Ncube hosted Chris Brown and tagged Mzekezeke, who mocked Chris Brown live on TV.
In addition to his visits, he has worked with several South Africans and even featured 14-year-old Naledi Aphiwe in 2023.
MAKING HEADLINES
Despite being among the most sought-after stars, his failed relationship with Rihanna is often implicated in his tours.
Despite his big wins, Chris Brown has had his fair share of drama. He was once dragged to the courts for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
According to reports in one of the incidents, he assaulted Rihanna in a Lamborghini the night before the 2009 Grammys.
Ahead of his X Tour in South Africa in 2015, several organisations wanted his tour to be cancelled because of his assault cases.
