Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin has responded to Emmerdale’s Tom King (James Chase) and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) abuse storyline, amid Cleo Mcqueen’s own ordeal.
Cleo is currently in an abusive relationship with manipulative Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti), who has subjected her to months of coercive control.
She is currently being held captive in a secret room by Abe, who told her loved ones that she had gone away – even going so far as to send them fake postcards from her.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale is also tackling an abuse storyline with Tom and Belle. The couple got married last year and Tom turned violent almost immediately.

Since then, he has subjected Belle to physical and mental abuse, as well as using technology to spy on her and keep track of her every move.
Thankfully, Belle found the courage to open up about her ordeal and leave Tom, after a special episode that gave viewers a glimpse into the future and how things could play out for Belle.
‘They are doing the storyline from the angle of the couple having split up, which I think is incredibly real,’ actress Nadine praised the ITV soap as she discussed the similarities between the storylines with Inside Soap.

She went on to discuss her reaction to Cleo’s current situation, having been kidnapped by Abe over a year ago.
‘I screamed when the producer told me. And I wonder how long they had planned it because where they built the secret room Cleo is in is literally an extension of her and Abe’s flat, there was already space there for it.
‘I can’t wait to film the moment when she escapes, but we don’t know when or how that will be.’
