Popular actor Msizi Njapha says he is onto bigger projects as his role on Umkhokha the Curse comes to an end.
MSIZI NJAPHA: ‘WE HAD SO MANY SIMILARITIES’
The actor Msizi Njapha who played the fan-favourite role of Khulekani Mthembu on Umkhokha the Curse tells Sunday World that he enjoyed playing the character.
“I really enjoyed playing Khulekani, we had so many similarities and differences. But I guess it’s time to let go,” he said.
“I know there’s a rumour that seems to suggest that I was becoming big-headed and egoistic on set. But this is not true.”
Njapha adds that his role ended at its peak, when he was still enjoying it as writers felt they needed to change Khulekani’s direction.
The actor also reveals that he’s already working on something big, and he cannot divulge much for now except that he’ll be making a huge comeback in the next few weeks.
He thanks everyone he worked with onset of Umkhokha: The Curse as the Mvelase family became his second family.
‘UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE’ ENDS
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announces that Umkhokha: The Curse may not be renewed for a third season.
“Umkhokha: The Curse ending. The curtain looks set to fall on the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela when its current season ends. The show will end its current season in March 2025 and is yet to be renewed. Barring extenuating circumstances to keep it, the show is done,” writes Mphela.
TVSA reported in September that the show is currently the second most-watched telenovela with over 800 000 viewers on Mzansi Magic.
Zimoja reports that actress Sphelele Luthuli who plays Nokubonga has also left the show
Sources from the show reveal to the publication Luthuli was let go because producers did not know what to do with her character anymore.
This comes after entertainment commentator Jabu McDonald revealed that actors Kwanele Mthethwa and Angel Zuma have also left the show.
Mthethwa took over fan-favourite actress Kwezi Ndlovu’s character as Nobuntu in 2023.
The faith-based telenovela is completing season two and there is still no word from Mzansi Magic whether they are renewing contracts for season three or not.
