I spent over £40k getting my nails done – trolls say I look like Edward Scissorhands but I say they’re worth every penny

A MAN has revealed that he has been nicknamed Edward Scissorhands after spending over £40,000 getting his nails done.

Lash technician Ryan’s nails are always four to five inches long, and he only ever cuts them to get a new set put on.

His nail appointments can last up to eight hours, and he spends around £760 every two weeks on his nails.

The 25-year-old, from New York, has been getting his nails done extremely long for over four years, and said his clients are often worried that he won’t be able to do their lashes properly because of his nails.

Ryan said that the household tasks he struggles with the most are washing small cups or getting into small crevices whilst cleaning.

“I would say it’s a challenge because it requires patience, and it probably just takes a little bit longer than the average person, by like a minute”, he told Truly.

However, despite the challenges, Ryan said that he can do everything anyone else can with his nails, even cracking an egg.

“People are always amazed that I can crack these”, he said.

Ryan said that the inspiration for his unconventional nails came from his grandma who always had very long nails when he was growing up.

He said he loved the sound they made, as well as the crazy designs she had on each nail.

“I always knew that one day I would do my nails like that.”

Ryan often posts videos of himself doing basic tasks like tying his shoelaces or opening doors, and the videos often go viral, racking up millions of views.

Many are impressed by Ryan’s ability to be able to carry out tasks with his huge nails, but he has also faced lots of criticism from trolls.

“Everybody is just outraged that a boy has such long nails”, he said.

Comments from trolls have ranged from saying that the nails look like “overpriced garbage” to likening Ryan to the titular character in Tim Burton‘s classic film Edward Scissorhands.

“You can never compare these nails to garbage, garbage will never cost $1000”, he said.

Hitting back at the trolls, Ryan said that he thinks his nails are “beautiful”, adding that just because they are not to everyone’s taste does not mean that there is anything wrong with them.

Ryan said that a lot of people think he gets his nails done for “attention”, but he said that this is not the case, and he just thinks that they are beautiful.

He added that he doesn’t think that he will ever go back to having short nails.

“It would probably have to be a life or death situation”, he said.

Ryan said that he thinks his nails have helped his confidence, as he can express himself better with them.

“Haters are what has pushed me to keep going and get to where I’m at.”
