Siya Kolisi’s book has resurfcaed on social media amid his divorce with his wife- Rachel Kolisi.
In 2021, the Springboks captain published his book “Rise: The Brand New Autobiography by Siya Kolisi.”
In the book, Kolisi reflects on his life prior to turning to God and transforming himself.
He further discusses his challenging journey to becoming one of the most successful captains of the Springboks and his struggles with substance abuse, porn addiction and bullying.
SIYA’S BOOK RESURFACES ONLINE
On Tuesday, Siya and his wife Rachel Kolisi released a joint statement announcing that they are headed for divorce. The couple said they had decided to call it quits “after much reflection and open conversations.”
In a passage from Siya’s book circulating on social media, Kolisi expresses his awareness of grappling with various challenges, including pornography addiction, lifestyle decisions, and the pressures of being in the spotlight.
He mentions that Ben is firm with him and calls him out on his mistakes and poor life choices.
“He said to me, ‘You need to stop drinking because when you drink, that’s when you do dumb things.’‘
He mentions that Ben suggested he quit drinking, which made him realise there were deeper issues at play.
Siya adds: ‘I was struggling with a lot of things: temptations, sins, lifestyle choices. I struggled with porn too, like many men. I was in demand as the first Black Springbok captain; everyone wanted to know me,’ reads part of the book.”

The couple did not reveal why they had decided to end their eight-year marriage.
Announcing the shocking news they said “This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.
“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.
“We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for respect as we navigate this transition.
