Talented actor Siyabonga “Siya” Sepotokele discusses his role in Law, Love & Betrayal.
SIYA SEPOTOKELO: ‘WE HAVEN’T HAD A LEGAL SHOW IN SA’
The actor Siyabonga “Siya” Sepotokele stars in the Showmax Original legal drama Law, Love, and Betrayal as Thabo.
His character is a good guy who always tries to do the right thing but often ends up making the wrong decisions.
“Thabo is Gugu’s childhood sweetheart; they’ve been together for a long time. They started off as best friends and eventually became lovers. He has been by Gugu’s side through everything, from their school days to her professional career. He’s a good guy who always tries to do the right thing but often ends up making the wrong decisions”, says Sepotokele.
He adds that he originally auditioned for the role of James, played by Anelisa Phewa and later received a callback to do a chemistry test for Thabo.
When he did the chemistry test with Dineo Rasedile, he immediately knew she was perfect for the role. The Smoke and Mirrors star plays Dineo Rasedile’s boyfriend.
WHAT MAKES HIM EXCITED ABOUT ‘LAW, LOVE AND BETRAYAL’?
The actor Siyabonga “Siya” Sepotokele also reveals what makes him excited about Law, Love and Betrayal.
“We haven’t had a legal show in South Africa for a while now. We’ve had shows that include a bit of law as part of the storyline but, in this series, law is at the center of everything.”
“There are several big storylines, but we spend most of our time in court. Here we have full-on cases being argued.”
The actor stars alongside Pearl Modiadie, Dineo Rasedile, Nimrod Nkosi and Anelisa Phewa in the legal drama.
Modiadie plays the character of Ayanda Gumede, Rasedile portrays the role of Gugu Mabaso, while Nkosi plays the role of Gatsha Gumede, the founder of Gumede & Associates.
The drama series premiered on Showmax on 5 September 2024, consists of 13 episodes with new episodes on Thursdays.
