Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada returned to the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after finishing with nine wickets against Bangladesh in their first Test match.
The 29-year-old bowler took nine wickets in Mirpur, helping South Africa to a seven wicket in the first Test match. Rabada also became the fastest to 300 Test wickets on the first day of the Test match, overtaking Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood to take the top spot.

‘KG’ was on form again in the second test helping the Proteas bowl out Bangladesh for just 159 in the first innings. The number one ranked bowler took five wickets at an economy of 4.11.
Kagiso Rabada had first topped the rankings after the Newlands Test against India in January 2018 and held the top spot for much of the next 12 months.
Proteas opener Tony de Zorzi scored a career-best 177 in the second Test match as Proteas posted a total of 575/6 before declaring.
“Once you get in, it becomes pretty much just [about] your decision-making and your ability to stay focused. It’s definitely mental but you also have to be physically fit enough to be able to do it and be able to concentrate for long periods of time; be able to switch on and switch off,” he said.
“I’d say to do it for a long time, you’ve got to be 100% present as much as you can and focused.”
