Kaizer Chiefs’ next three fixtures: Nine points up for grabs

Kaizer Chiefs have to win their next three fixtures if they are to compete for the league title this season.

After making it to the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals, they will be back in action in the Betway Premiership, facing SuperSport United once again this weekend.

Having won two out of their first three league matches, Amakhosi currently sit in sixth place on the log. Under Nasreddine Nabi, Chiefs have shown positive signs, played with intent, and are shaping up to be strong contenders for trophies once more.

Kaizer Chiefs need to win their next three fixtures

In their last match, the Glamour Boys triumphed over Matsatsantsa with a 4-0 victory at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Carling KO Cup. They will face the same team again on Saturday. On the other hand, SuperSport will be looking to bounce back after a 2-0 loss to Pirates mid-week. Gavin Hunt’s side has struggled throughout the campaign, and another encounter with Chiefs might provide the motivation they need to turn their season around.

Following the SuperSport match, Kaizer Chiefs have two challenging fixtures against Magesi and Royal AM. This will be followed by a Carling KO Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns scheduled for early next month. Both teams have already played this season in the Betway Premiership.

Nasreddine Nabi will need to secure victories in the next three games in order to keep pace with the likes of Orlando Pirates and Sundowns. On paper, Kaizer Chiefs’ fixtures look winnable but given how the league started this season, more surprises are still to come.

Can Chiefs compete against Pirates and Sundowns for the title?
