Kaizer Chiefs player wants out

According to reports, centre-back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe wants to leave Kaizer Chiefs in the summer.

The 26-year-old Botswanan captain has fallen out of the pecking order, with new signings Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley taking his spot.

Ditlhokwe, who hasn’t featured all season, was suspended for the Glamour Boys’ opening game against Marumo Gallants after picking up a fourth yellow card on the final day of the 2023/24 PSL campaign.

Advice from a former Chiefs player

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould, who experienced a similar setback while at the club, has offered Ditlhokwe some advice, saying, “The Ditlhokwe situation is exactly what happened to me [at Kaizer Chiefs]. I think he’s in a space where he needs to reflect on why he’s playing football and why he moved from SuperSport United,

“He needs to go back and relive those main reasons. I got doubted also, that’s the same thing. The only way for him to correct this is to work extra hard and stay focused” he told FARPost.

“I would say to him, ‘Stay remembering that you can believe in yourself; you are the best version of yourself, and you are competing with yourself.’

“The team took his services for a reason. There is no other sweet joy than that, remembering why you were wanted. There is no time for pity party, football moves, if you stay behind it would be difficult to catch-up. But he seems like a very focused guy, he will come back and add value.”

Nabi’s wants strikers

As the upcoming transfer window looms, AmaKhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi will shift his attention towards strikers, having already bolstered defence with Miguel and Dortley.

He confirmed these whispers in a conversation with SABC Sport, saying, “For myself, I think look now, in October we don’t play, then we have November and December. Then in January, the window opens. I need to scout for the quality that I need,

“I think my strikers today and last game, they scored. I agree with you, the market in Africa is very, very short, you have maybe three, four, or five good players but all the clubs in Africa take them like Esperance, Al Ahly, Zamalek. The market in Africa is not positive in this moment.”
