Kaizer Chiefs’ Tebogo Potsane’s exciting return to Bloemfontein, according to Soccer Laduma.
Chiefs gear up for their third visit to Bloemfontein in quick succession, bringing joy to midfielder Potsane, a proud local. After facing Young Africans in the Toyota Cup and Marumo Gallants in their Premiership opener, Chiefs return to Mangaung on October 13 for the CUFA (Cultural Urban Festival Africa) Cup, where they’ll clash with Dan Malesela’s Marumo Gallants at the Toyota Stadium.
This high-profile friendly aligns with Chiefs’ international break preparations, featuring additional friendly matches, including one against Mamelodi Sundowns. With the stakes high, fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere as the team seeks to rebuild momentum.
Tebogo Potsane’s personal connection
Ahead of this significant match, Tebogo Potsane expressed his excitement about returning to his hometown. He stated, “As someone from Bloemfontein, I am honoured to be back home to attend the launch of the Cufa Cup.” He noted that the Chiefs eagerly anticipate their third visit in just ten weeks, underscoring the strong connection between the team and the local community.
Reflecting on previous matches, Potsane highlighted the incredible support from fans: “We played in front of capacity crowds against Young Africans on 28 July in the Toyota Cup and faced Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on 14 September.” He added, “We know people of Mangaung love football, and we look forward to another sold-out crowd when we return on 13 October.”
Overcoming challenges
Unfortunately, Potsane has faced significant hurdles this season, having not played any football due to an injury concern. His last appearance for Chiefs was on December 30. The 30-year-old’s struggles intensified following the loss of his mother just before joining the club. Adding emotional weight to his time at Naturena.
As he aims to reclaim his position, Potsane’s performance this season becomes vital. With no full shifts in his 11 appearances, and yet to score as an attacking midfielder. He must prove his value to secure a future at the club. He signed a three-year deal last year after transferring from Royal AM, taking on the jersey once worn by Khama Billiat.
Chiefs will resume their domestic campaign on October 26 against SuperSport United. And fans will eagerly await how Potsane and the team perform as they strive for success.
