Kaizer Chiefs star player on the radar of European clubs after a great start to life at Naturena.
Just a few games into the new season, Bafana Bafana and Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has caught the attention of European clubs. Sources close to the player and Chiefs confirm that an unnamed Russian club is showing interest after Dortley’s standout performances for both club and country.
Insiders reveal that the Russian club is only one of several teams keeping an eye on the talented 22-year-old. They have already inquired about Dortley’s availability. “From what the club is saying, the interest was there even when he was at Cape Town Spurs, and the club in Russia is just following up on that. Yes, they have inquired about him, but with coach Nasreddine Nabi having so much belief and trust in him, I don’t think anything could happen soon. It will take a lot from the Russian team to convince Chiefs to sell Dortley at this point, but I can tell you the interest and inquiry has been there,” a source disclosed to Soccer Laduma.
National team performances fueling interest
Another source emphasised that Dortley’s form with Bafana Bafana significantly contributes to the ongoing interest from European teams. “As much as he is doing very well for the club, the European team interested in him is more impressed with his national team performance. Not just in these recent games but also during the COSAFA Cup with coach Helman Mkhalele. So they have been monitoring him for some time now,” the source explained.
Since joining Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the season, Dortley has made his mark, featuring in all four of the team’s matches and earning regular appearances for the national team. His strong performances have not gone unnoticed, and fans are eager to see how this potential transfer saga unfolds.
Chiefs face tough decisions ahead
As European interest in Dortley grows, Kaizer Chiefs may soon face a challenging decision about the young defender’s future. With his impressive play for both club and country, the next few months could prove pivotal for Dortley’s career and the Chiefs’ defensive lineup. Will he make the leap to Europe, or will he continue to shine at Naturena? Only time will tell.
