KAIZER CHIEFS TO PROMOTE ROYCE MALATJI?
After becoming a development superstar in 2023, Amakhosi‘s 16-year-old Royce Malatji has attracted the attention of senior coaches. According to Soccer Laduma, Malatji, who can play on either side of full-back, wings and central midfield, is moving close to first team football.
The report added that Malatji will continue playing for the Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team, while also training with the senior team.
THREE MILLION WATCHED AMAKHOSI MATCH
Remember the Betway Premiership match between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns last month?
The date was 28 September on a Saturday at the FNB Stadium. Ranga Chivaviro opened the scoring for Amakhosi before Sundowns responded with two goals by Iqraam Rayners and Lucas Ribeiro.
According to Bizcommunity, the match was a delight for the relevant sponsors. No less than 3.26 million watched the match on SABC 1 and SuperSport 202.
Kaizer Chiefs’ kit sponsor enjoyed R1.9 million in advertising value, Vodacom enjoyed R1.6 million, while Absa, Toyota and SuperSport earned R1.5 million worth of brand exposure each.
Meanwhile, the two teams have another battle this coming weekend. The mighty Sundowns will again visit Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium for the Carling Knockout quarter-finals. Kick-off will be at 18:00.
