Kaizer Chiefs vs. Marumo Gallants imminent, as match confirmed amid last-minute drama.
The highly anticipated clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants will indeed take place, putting to rest any doubts surrounding the match. Organisers of the CUFA Cup have confirmed that they resolved the recent issues with Gallants, ensuring that fans can enjoy this exciting showdown.
This match is a key part of the Cultural Urban Festival Africa, which kicked off at Naval Hill in Bloemfontein today. Running from October 3 to October 13, the festival promises a vibrant mix of music, arts, and cultural events in Mangaung.
Originally slated for Sunday at 15:00 at the Bloemfontein Stadium, the match faced uncertainty after Gallants released a statement just a day before kick-off. The statement raised concerns about a contractual dispute with the event organisers. Fortunately, on Sunday, the organisers confirmed they reached a resolution with Marumo Gallants, allowing the match to proceed as planned.
Chiefs focus on contract talks for star forward
In related news, Kaizer Chiefs are actively pursuing contract negotiations to secure their forward, Ranga Chivaviro, and prevent a potential free transfer. As the 2024/2025 season gains momentum, the club aims to extend Chivaviro’s stay beyond his current contract, which expires in June 2025. However, questions arise about whether this extension is premature.
Sources close to the club indicate that Kaizer Chiefs are prepared to offer Chivaviro a two-year deal that would keep him at Naturena until June 2027. The club seeks to secure his future well in advance to avoid the risk of him becoming a free agent by December. This situation would enable him to sign a pre-contract with any team.
“In most cases, the club has waited until the last minute to extend player contracts, and they don’t want to do that with Ranga (Chivaviro). That’s why they may already offer him a new two-year deal. It’s not a done deal, as there is still some work to do,” a source explained.
While Kaizer Chiefs explore options to strengthen their attack by bringing in a new striker, retaining Chivaviro remains a top priority. “What they are doing is to ensure that while looking for another striker to sign, maybe in January, they don’t lose the one they currently have in the team,” the source noted. With Chivaviro serving as the coach’s primary striker, finalising a new two-year contract is crucial, even if fresh talent arrives.
