At this point, there are more Big Bang Theory spinoffs existing in the world than I can count, with another one rumoured to be in the works. But will our favourite original characters such as Penny or Sheldon be making an appearance in the Big Bang Theory spinoff? Well, they’ve both weighed in on the matter.
The recently announced spinoff will feature round three of the least interesting characters from the series, no offence if anyone loves them, in the format of comic book owner Stuart Bloom, his girlfriend Denise and Bert Kibbler.
Of her role as Penny in the original Big Bang Theory, Kaley told People: “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to Chuck Lorre. It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
“I would absolutely reprise that role. 100 per cent. I love that character, and I always will.”
But her co-star Jim Parson who played the main character Sheldon in the series seems like he’d be less enthusiastic about reprising his role for the Big Bang Theory spinoff.
In an interview on the Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? podcast, Jim revealed whether he’d ever return, admitting: “As we sit here now, no. But also I never say never to anything, because life just changes so much.
“One of the things is that it was so special as what it was and as what it is, and they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason. You can be certain [a revival] wouldn’t be that, and so why would we be doing it?
“I don’t know, that’s how I feel on that right now. But like I say, God willing, life is very long.”
