Killer Reiss finally ‘caught’ by one of EastEnders’ biggest legends

With Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) having so far failed in her attempts to get Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) to confess to killing his wife Debbie, another EastEnders legend looks set to help her get closer to the truth next week.

Reiss smothered his comatose wife to death in her care home bed earlier this year in a bid to solve his money woes, but his fiancé and Bianca’s sister Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) has since been charged with her murder.

Bianca returned to Walford on the warpath last month to help free Sonia, and became convinced Reiss is the real culprit.

Her campaign against him was bolstered when she learned that Debbie had cut him out of her will before she suffered the stroke that left her in a coma – but her plot to ply Reiss with alcohol and record a confession ultimately fell apart.

Next week, however, there’s another pair of hands to help her following her father David Wicks’ (Michael French) return to Walford on Thursday.

He’s back in town on a mission to help Bianca after being left deeply concerned about her mental health following a call from Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) about her erratic behaviour.

As father and daughter catch up, Bianca tries to convince David that she’s right about Reiss being a murderer, so David goes to talk to Reiss himself – what will he uncover?

Michael French is back in EastEnders a decade on from his last appearance as David, and this time around, Patsy Palmer – who plays Bianca – has revealed there is a ‘new dynamic’ between the pair.

‘This is a whole new era of David and Bianca,’ she teases. ‘I really love that EastEnders is exploring a father-and-daughter relationship like this, and it’s an amazing chance to see how a woman in her 40s and a man in his 60s navigate the situation they are in. Bianca was born when David was quite young, so they aren’t that far apart in age, and they can relate to each other better now.

‘David has a very different life to the one he left in Walford, whereas Bianca is stuck where she is. I want to see David swoop in and sort Bianca’s life out for her. It’s about time she had a bit of luck.’

Will he manage to help Bianca free her sister?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 7 October at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
