Lorde has concerned fans with her latest Instagram post which features pictures of her sporting a black eye in what is the only tile on her grid.

The Ribs singer, 27, shared several photos with her 10.9 million followers showing her black and blue right eye from several different angles.

Lorde, real name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, shared four selfies that all show the large bruise alongside some other cryptic pictures.

One picture in the post showed a disc featuring the words ‘ProHealth Advanced Imaging’ before the next photo saw Lorde tucking into a large ice cream sundae, and another was a picture of a cap with the words, ‘Do you have the stones?’ sewn on.

Fans were quick to share their concern about the injury in the comment section, but many also asked about her peculiar caption, which read: ‘DYHTS? © 𝑳ĿŁု⑷♶⚤”.

‘MYYYY GIRLLL WHAT HAPPENEDDD????’ asked follower htyngmann_, while fan account lordecontent asked: ‘GIRLLL ARE YOU OKAY???’

marissacatanese2 added, ‘Girl, so confusing!!!! But fr are you okay?’ while ratjackson_ asked: ‘what happen to my queen.’

Some theorised the cryptic caption – as well as this post being the only one on her Instagram page – could be pointing to music news.

‘DYHTS’ could refer to a seemingly innocuous image she posted of a grey cap which reads ‘do you have the stones?’

Reddit user Numerous-Chocolate15 thought, however: ‘DYHTS is sounds like Do You Hear The Silence. So L4 soon.’

Amumumyspiritanimal added: ‘The caption is 99% a reference to her next album and the lead single. DYHTS? sounds so much like a title shorthand.’

The same user also wrote: ‘The four stylized L’s are probably a reference to the distinctions between her albums and how they feel, since the last L with the overcircle isn’t used in any language from what I read.

‘The recycling 4 is the symbol for low-density polyethylene that’s used in everything from playground slides to packaging of fast fashion products.

‘The last symbol is the bigender(or hermaphroditic in old fashion) symbol. I have no idea what it is but maybe it’s a reference to the album returning to form and taking inspiration to her previous holy trinity, with a lot of ambiguity and play around gender and gender roles? idk.’

Referencing the disc Lorde shared a picture of, L2tog wrote: ‘When I saw this part of me wondered if maybe she’s had a medical procedure, bruising can be common after certain routine procedures. But why she would post it… who knows.’

Mother-External-6000 reasoned: ‘As bad as the connotations of a black eye are I assume she would only be posting with no explanation if it was some sort of accident?’

It comes after the Royals singer shared a health update last year and seemed to confirm her split from music executive Justin Warren.

‘It’s different but the same,’ Lorde reportedly wrote, as per multiple publications.

‘I ache all the time, I forget why and then remember. I’m not trying to hide from the pain, I understand now that pain isn’t something to hide from, that there’s actually great beauty in moving with it. But sometimes I’m sick of being with myself.’
