Kaizer Chiefs have a key player returning for their crunch Carling Knockout quarter-final clash with Sundowns. Here’s the latest.

Miguel returns to bolster Kaizer Chiefs

After sitting out the 2-2 draw with Magesi because of an accumulation of yellows, impressive Angolan Inacio Miguel should return alongside Rushwin Dortley in the heart of defence defence. Wandile Duba and Samkelo Zwane are also potential returnees. It’s also highly like Gaston Sirino will be picked against his old side. It’s a toss-up between Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi for a wide attacking berth. However, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo could come out of the side as he gradually finds full fitness again after numerous injury setbacks.

Predicted XI: Ntwari; Frosler, Miguel, Dortley, Cross; Zwane, Blom; Duba, Shabalala, Sirino; Chivaviro.

Reminder of the starting XI in the 2-2 draw with Magesi: Ntwari; Frosler, Msimango, Dortley, Cross; Blom, Maart; Vilakazi, Shabalala, Ngcobo; Chivaviro.

Chiefs vs Sundowns H2H record

It doesn’t make good reading if you’re an Amakhosi fan because Chiefs’ recent results against the Brazilians don’t paint the prettiest picture. A controversial 2-1 win for Masandawana extended their unbeaten streak against Chiefs to nine matches across all competitionsYou have to go back to April 2021 for their last win over Sundowns in any competition. Ironically, Uruguayan Gaston Sirino was a goal-scorer for Sundowns on that afternoon. Can he stick the knife into his former employers when the sides meet again? He’s returned from injury sooner than expected and got himself a goal against SuperSport which is a massive bonus for Nasreddine Nabi.
