Mamelodi Sundowns star signs with new Betway Premiership side, according to iDiski Times.
Polokwane City has officially signed former Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi on a one-year contract. This move marks a new chapter for the 29-year-old player, who aims to make an impact after a challenging stint at Sundowns.
Sammy Seabi joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Polokwane City in 2019 after impressing Pitso Mosimane at the time. Over five years at Sundowns, Seabi won two league titles but often found himself on the bench or in the stands. After his release, he sought greener pastures and found a new home with Polokwane City.
Seabi has already begun training under head coach Phuti Mohafe and his technical team as he prepares for the current season with Rise and Shine.
Recent changes in the Polokwane City squad
In related news, Given Mashikinya, a former midfielder of Sekhukhune United, is set to join a new PSL club this season. After parting ways with Polokwane City following the 2023/2024 campaign, Mashikinya remains a free agent and is poised to sign with Baroka FC.
At Polokwane, Mashikinya made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and contributing an assist. Under the previous coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, the team finished eighth in the league, securing a spot in the MTN8.
Mashikinya’s potential impact at Baroka FC
Trusted sources indicate that Mashikinya is heading to Baroka FC on a free transfer. The 33-year-old midfielder’s experience will be invaluable. As Baroka aims to return to the SA top-flight after being relegated in the 2020/2021 season. That season ended with a disappointing bottom-place finish, accumulating only 25 points from six victories, seven draws, and 17 defeats.
Currently, Baroka FC has had a slow start in the 2024/2025 season. Accumulating just nine points in six matches with two wins, three draws, and one loss. The club began the season under coach Morgan Mammila but fired him after two matches. They now operate under interim coach Amukelani Foster Hlungwane as they search for a permanent replacement.
A new beginning for Seabi and Mashikinya
Both Sammy Seabi and Given Mashikinya are set to embark on new journeys in their football careers. Seabi aims to rejuvenate his career at Polokwane City, while Mashikinya looks to contribute to Baroka FC’s push for promotion. Fans can expect exciting developments as these players settle into their new roles in the PSL.
