Social media has reacted to the news of former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane resigning from the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF).
In a letter that she posted on X(formerly Twitter), the 54-year-old politician thanked the EFF for the support.
“Today, I’m saying goodbye to you, Fighters. After careful consideration and talking to my family, they advised and felt I needed to go away. Spend time with them, rest, and continue to fight for the vulnerable where possible.
Social media feels Mkhwebane will join MK Party
“In my time of need, you Fighters extended a helping hand, becoming a refuge for me over the past 12 months. Your unwavering support has been a beacon of hope, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Now, it is time for me to focus on spending cherished moments with my family,” the letter read.
Mkhwebane exited just a few months after Floyd Shivambu and Mzanele Manyi also left the party. She joined the EFF last year following her impeachment as Public Protector.
Mkhwebane’s resignation letter from the EFF circulated on social media on Wednesday. Many felt her exit paved way for her to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party.
@SithaleKgaogelo wrote: “Busisiwe Mkhwebane also leaving the EFF? This was imminent.. The EFF taking these people to parliament was a blunder, enemies of my enemy never end well.”
@maemu_ncube wrote: “The EFF humiliated Zuma, called him names, made fun of him, now Msholozi and the MK party are eating that elephant piece by piece. Mkhwebane is leaving, Mpofu will leave soon, then Ndlozi.”
Will Mpofu join Mkhwebane?
