Relebohile Mofokeng came from the bench to help Orlando Pirates clinch the MTN8 title on Saturday evening.
The teenager scored the Buccaneers’ third goal deep in stoppage time as the Soweto giants beat Stellenbosch 3-1 to lift the MTN8 title at Moses Mabhida Stadium. A win for Pirates sees them win the title for the third consecutive time.
After Pirates’ win, Mofokeng downplayed his impact from the bench, saying everyone who played deserve credit.
“It’s not so much they trust me to come in the second half and make things happen but I feel like when I come in, I work for the team on top of the work of the players that started the match. We all worked for the team,” said Mofokeng as per KickOff.
“The players that started are the ones that wore down Stellenbosch for me to come in and do the simple things.

“So yes, I only come in to work. It’s not that they trust me to come in from the bench [and score] because I have been starting games and scoring and assisting,” Mofokeng said.
Mofokeng has been one of Orlando Pirates’ best players this season scoring two goals and also providing two assists.
“So, when you start on the bench, it doesn’t mean you won’t play, you just have to stay ready,” he added.
“I’m grateful to my teammates for helping me score. Tshego [Mabasa] was the one that passed to me so I could score.”
Relebohile Mofokeng has already won five trophies with Orlando Pirates before age 20.
