MTN8 final: Kaizer Chiefs target warns Orlando Pirates

Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien says his team wants to win the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates.

Stellies impressively eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-final of the MTN8 last month. Their next task is to beat is arguably more difficult given Pirates’ recent cup run. The Buccaneers have won five of their last six finals in the past four years.

Coming into Saturday’s MTN8 final, Pirates are unbeaten in their last 12 matches this season across all competitions. Basadien, who has been under the radar of Kaizer Chiefs, says Stellenbosch are high in confidence ahead of the final.

“The two games against Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy obviously not easy teams to play against so getting a result against Galaxy in the quarterfinal was important because we knew that we want to challenge for this cup,” he said as per GOAL.

Orlando Pirates to play in another MTN8 final

“After we got the results, no matter what team we got in the semi-final we knew our goal was to reach the final and we put in two good performances against Sundowns, home and away.

“Obviously, that boosts the confidence of the guys, we are looking forward to the final and we are hoping to go all the way,” Basadien concluded.

Although Orlando Pirates are favourites to win the MTN8 final, Stellies come into the match with nothing to lose. Fawaaz Basadien has been one of the top players this season, scoring three times across all competitions.
