One Springbok is ready to make history this November

The Springboks will travel to the United Kingdom this November to face Scotland, England, and Wales.

If he features in all three games, Willie le Roux, 35, could join Springboks’ elite centurion club.

The Blue Bulls fullback currently sits on 97 caps, scoring seventy-five points during his illustrious career, which has seen him contribute to two World Cup triumphs.

If—or, according to Rassie Erasmus, when—the fullback reaches triple figures, he’ll join the status of Springbok legends Victor Matfield, Eben Etzebeth, Bryan Habana, Tendai Mtawarira, John Smit, Jean de Villiers, and Percy Montgomery.

Will he reach the mark next month?

It’s not a given that he will reach the hundred mark this November as he battles for squad selection against inform Aphelele Fassi and Damien Willemse.

If not next month, there will be opportunities in the future, as Erasmus is confident he still has years left in the tank.

“Look, we want to get him to his 100th game… I think he can play another two years, I don’t think he will make another World Cup. If he makes another World Cup, it will be like Stephen Donald [for New Zealand in 2011]. But his role in the team now is to help youngsters. And when he plays, to help us win,” he explained to SABC Sport.
