Mamelodi Sundowns fans are never certain Neo Maema will be selected for the next game. How is he managing the struggle for game time?
NEO MAEMA ACCEPTS TOUGH COMPETITION
Maema, 28, moved to Kabo Yellow in July 2021. While the Bloemfontein-born star played 48 minutes this term, he only managed 16 appearances last season, half of them from the bench. According to the player known as “Billy,” this all comes with the territory of playing for a team like Sundowns.
“Every player wants to play but we’re pushing each other and supporting whoever is playing because at the end of the day, I’d like to believe that whoever is playing needs the support,” Maema said via the Citizen.
“We can’t all play at the same time and the one that’s playing needs to make sure that he keeps the consistency when it comes to Sundowns. The amount of players we have, it’s interesting when it comes to midfielders because we give different things to the club,” Maema added.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STATEMENT

“Considered one of the greatest players of all time, Neeskens was the Head Coach of Mamelodi Sundowns between July 2011 and December 2012.
“We pray that the Almighty God comforts and strengthens his family, friends, the Dutch Nation and the world at large.
“The legacy, life and memory of the beloved Johan Neeskens will live on beyond our time,” Sundowns concluded.
