Should Orlando Pirates beat Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 final, they would have secured an extra R10 million in their bank account.
Having reached the CAF Champions League group stages, the Buccaneers have bagged R12 million. Jose Riveiro’s me started their season in early August as they had to play in the MTN8 and CAF CL preliminary stages.
Along the way, Orlando Pirates defeated Cape Town City, SuperSport United, Disciples and Jwaneng Galaxy in cup competition matches. The Sea Robbers now have a chance to increase their earnings when they play in the MTN8 final this weekend. The winner of Saturday’s final will take home a total of R10 million.
The big price for the Buccaneers is the Champions League. CAF announced that the winners of the competition will receive R72 million this season.
Orlando Pirates still looking to earn their second star
The runner-up of the competition will receive half of that amount. The semi-finalists will be rewarded R21 million, while the quarter-finalists will take home R16 million.
Orlando Pirates are currently competing in five different competitions which include the CAF CL, MTN8, Carling Knockout, Nedbank, and Betway Premiership this season. If they were to win everything, they would secure around R110 million this campaign.
