Orlando Pirates are sitting pretty after a perfect, 100% start to their Betway Premiership title charge. What’s next for the Sea Robbers?
Pirates are getting the job done
Jose Riveiro’s side is digging deep to win fixtures regardless of their performances and they’re also sharing the goals around. The team’s most recent success was a 2-0 win at TS Galaxy courtesy of strikes from Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng. Teenager Mohau Nkota was the hero as his brace secured a 2-1 win over AmaZulu on Friday.
Next five fixtures for high-flying Pirates
Riveiro’s men have a trio of league encounters to prepare for in the next five weeks and they’ve also got two tasty Caf Champions League clashes on the horizon. The visit of African champions Al Ahly on 06 December is one to et in the diary.
- Pirates vs Richards Bay: Tue, 05 November, 19:30
- Belouizdad vs Pirates: Tue, 26 November, kickoff time TBC
- Pirates vs Stellenbosch: Sat, 30 November, 15:30
- Gallants vs Pirates: Tue, 03 December, 19:30
- Pirates vs Al Ahly: Fri, 06 December, kickoff time TBC
Riveiro warns Nkota
“It’s just the beginning for him,” he told SuperSport TV via iDiski Times after his debut for the club in their 3-2 defeat to Magesi in the Carling Knockout.
“He needs to understand that he needs to understand that this is just one game. He needs to improve a lot of things still.
“I think he played 65 minutes with his own personality. What matters to me, with some accuracy and some mistakes.
“But it’s just the beginning for him because in professional nothing comes for free.”
Mofokeng to Europe?
Former Bucs development coach Mandla Qhogi isn’t pulling any punches about where he sees Rele’s future playing out.
Via SoccerLaduma:
“For me, it will be a good time for him to go overseas. It is the right time and there are things that he would learn if he were to move now at this stage of his career. The more we keep him this side it could mean that we are delaying him. He is 20, and I think it is the right time for him to move if he has to be sold overseas,” said Qhogi.
Will the Sea Robbers continue their excellent start to the season as we approach 2025?
