Orlando Pirates star has new admirers in Europe, January offers are forthcoming

Orlando Pirates will be bracing themselves for big-money offers for their best superstars from Europe in the January window. Will they be busy with their own purchases?

Saleng is cooking again

Monnapule Saleng has started 2024-2025 in fine form, scoring four goals across all competitions. According to Soccer-Laduma, Belgian Jupiter Pro League side Standard Liege has taken notice. It’s not the first time European sides have looked at the talented wide attacker.

“It’s not like the interest in Saleng died off. It’s just that last season he was not playing that much so it was hard for the teams interested in him to monitor his progress but they were checking what was going on. Now since he is back in the thick of things the interest has arise again. It’s Standard Liege that has shown interest. Actually last season they were also interested in Mohau Nkota while Monaco SC were interested in Saleng. So now it’s believed that the Standard Liege scouts are looking at Saleng since Nkota has not been playing much since his promotion,” said the source.

Pirates’ next six fixtures

The Sea Robbers must wait until later this month to resume their quest to win the Betway Premiership. They’ve started with three wins from three, so the signs are good. Upcoming are three league fixtures on the bounce and then a tricky trip to Algeria where they could be on a collision course with former Cape Town City man Khanyisa Mayo. Caf Champions League holders Al Ahly visit Orlando Stadium in early December in a crunch group clash which you simply can’t miss.

R22 Million in the bank for the brilliant Buccaneers

Pirates are back at the top table of African continental competition following their routine aggregate win over Jwaneng Galaxy. They’ll participate in the 2024-2024 Caf Champions League group stages, and they bank a minimum of R12 million in the process. Advancement to the quarter-finals would swell Pirates’ earnings to R15.6 million and the money keeps on getting better the further they go. Add the R10 million they just banked from their MTN8 final and the shareholders are laughing all the way to the bank.
