Orlando Pirates is making headlines after winning their third MTN8 final in a row.
Over the weekend, the Soweto giants archived this feat after beating Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
ORLANDO PIRATES COMPLETES MTN8 CUP GLORY
Stellenbosch FC star Lehlohonolo Mojela scored the opener with Orlando Pirates’ Monnapule Saleng levelling the score in the 43rd minute.
Orlando Pirates went ahead in the 91st minute, with Tshegofatso Mabasa opening his goal account late in the game.
Relebohile Mofokeng sealed the win in the 96th minute with a clinical goal after dribbling past Stellenbosch FC’s defence and the goalkeeper.
However, with the win, the club went down in history as the first to win the final three times in a row.
Orlando Pirates are now two cups away from equalling Kaizer Chiefs’ record of 15 titles in the tournament.
After all the wins, the Orlando Pirates also received R10 million in prize money. The club was undoubtedly R22 million richer after securing R12 million from CAF after reaching the group stages.
THABISO MONYANE’S DREAM MORNING
Against the win, Orlando Pirates players and fans have since flooded their social media feeds with some wild celebrations.
However, Thabiso Monyane stole the attention with his recent Instagram posts. After hours and hours of celebrations, Thabiso shared one of the coldest pictures on the internet.
The star shared photos while in his bed with the MTN8 trophy. He captioned the now-viral photo, “MaBuccaneer DUMELAAAAANG! HISTORY.”
No doubt the photo has since gained thousands of reactions and comments since it dropped online.
What seemingly made it viral is the fact that Lionel Messi once pulled the same celebrations after winning the World Cup with Argentina.
In 2022, Messi posted ‘Good morning’ after winning the FIFA World Cup. The star shared photos hugging the golden trophy.
Despite being posted seemingly two years ago, Messi’s post is among the most liked in Instagram’s history.
After all, it seems the iconic celebration is Thabiso Monyane’s favourite. The Orlando Pirates star pulled the same celebration after winning the MTN8 in 2022.
CAREER
Thabiso Monyane has won big with Orlando Pirates. He was promoted from the club’s youth academy in 2019 and has since had over 60 appearances for the Soweto giants.
The Orlando Pirates star has also had his fair share of success with the Under 17, 19, and 23 teams. He has also starred for the national team in the COSAFA Under-17 and the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
