Orlando Pirates management look set to reward a first team player for his consistency!
Days after winning another trophy at the Buccaneers, goalkeeper Sipho Chaine will reportedly receive a contract extension offer from the club!
Chaine joined Orlando Pirates in a rather surprise move from Chippa United back in June 2022, and as the saying goes – the rest is history!
The 27-year-old goalkeeper has already racked up 61 appearances for the Buccaneers, keeping 21 clean-sheets in the process.
And now, the Bafana goalkeeper looks set to extend his contract at the club. Take a look at the details below.
Chaine to receive contract extension at Orlando Pirates
“Chaine has done well at Orlando Pirates and the club wants to reward him by giving him a new contract before the current deal expires,” an insider told Citizen.
“I hear it’s a three-year plus one deal. The technical team and the club management are happy with Chaine.
“They want him to stay at Pirates for a long time hence they want to give him a long-term contract. The offer will be tabled to him soon so that it can sign it before January.”
In other related news, Jose Riveiro’s time at Orlando Pirates has been extremely impressive thus far.
The Spanish tactician has already lifted five trophies in the space of just over two years.
Not only are Orlando Pirates lifting trophies, but their brand of football displayed under the Spanish tactician has been equally impressive.
Riveiro has allowed the likes of Monnapule Saleng, Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng to shine. And now, his star man is hoping the club’s management keep him around for years to come!
Mofokeng praying for long-term Jose Riveiro stay
“The only important thing is we work and get along well together. So, I will be happy if he stayed for an extended time,” Mofokeng said following Orlando Pirates’ MTN8 triumph as quoted by Citizen.
“Staying with him is a good thing because he helps us with a lot of things. I would love to stay with him for another season.”
Is this an indication that Relebohile Mofokeng is planning to remain at Orlando Pirates next season?
