‘Philippians 4 vs 13’: Cheslin Kolbe celebrates Eben Etzebeth’s big win with a verse

The Springboks the 2024 Rugby Championship after beating Argentina 48-7 in Mbombela on Saturday.

The Springboks won five of their six matches. However, their only defeat was a 29-28 loss to the Pumas in Santiago.

However, it was a win for the Boks and lock Eben Etzebeth. The celebrated lock became South Africa’s most capped player, passing Victor Matfield’s 127 test mark.

According to The South African, only seven players – out of 944 have reached that milestone.

After the full-time whistle, Springboks captain Siya Kolisi passionately tribute Eben Etzbeth, who surpassed Victor Matfield as South Africa’s most-capped player.

“I want to say, to my best friend, my eerste beste pel, Eben Etzebeth, yster, my brother, I am so grateful that I have walked this journey with you,” he said.

However, he also added, “I’m so proud of you. I’m so grateful to be your friend. I can’t wait to tell my kids I played with Eben Ysterbeth. Cheers, my brother; I love you.”

CHESLIN KOLBE CELEBRATES EBEN ETZEBETH’S BIG WIN

The Springboks captain also shared a devotional post on Instagram. Siya Kolisi. However, Kolisi joins a host of Springboks players celebrating Eben Etzebeth’s win.

Cheslin Kolbe, who reached his 100th point mark in his test appearances, also celebrated Eben Etzebeth’s big win with a now-viral post that has since left SA in tears.

Just like Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe shared a devotional Instagram post. He posted, “Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

“Elizabedii living LEGEND on and off the field mybra. 128 not out.”

Undoubtedly, his post has gained thousands of comments and reactions from fellow athletes and fans.

Eben Etzebeth had his first Springbok squad call in 2012. He debuted in the second row alongside debutant Juandre Kruger on 9 June 2012 at Kings Park Stadium, Durban.

Since then, he has been winning big with the Springboks. He was part of South Africa’s Rugby World Cup winning squad.

In 2023, he was part of the Springboks squad twice, winning the World Cup. Given his age of only 32, many were more than convinced that this could be his last dance at the 2027 Ruby World Cup.

CAREER

He started his career with West Province in 2009 and left in 2011 for amateur team UCT Ikey Tigers. In 2012, he joined the West Province senior team and has won big in the field since then.

Over the years, he has starred for several clubs, including the Stormers and Toulon. He plays for the Sharks, and his contract expires in 2027.
