Pirates sweating over fitness of the two key players ahead of final

Orlando Pirates are sweating over the fitness of their two players ahead of the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC.

The Buccaneers take on Stellies in the final on Saturday evening at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Monnapule Saleng and Olisa Ndah both missed Saturday’s match against Richards Bay which Pirates won 1-0.

Saleng has already netted two goals this season and his injury came at a time when he was banging goals for his time. When asked about the player’s availability for the final, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was unsure if the duo would be fit.

If you remember our last game against Polokwane City, both Olisa and Saleng were subbed because of two different injuries,” he said

“That’s the reason they’re not here is because they couldn’t make it. They were not available for selection.

“And actually it’s not 100% sure that they are going to be there in the final as well. So, we’re not saving anybody because like I said before we’re taking every game like a final.

Pirates to miss Saleng and Ndah for the final?

“We are giving the same respect to Richards Bay as the respect we are going to give Stellenbosch in the final.

“And that’s the way we want to do the things. So, there’s nothing like saving players, no not at all,” he said as per FARPost.

Orlando Pirates will play in their fifth successive final, having won their past four in the last two seasons. So far, the Buccaneers are unbeaten this season, having won eight matches.
